Would anyone recommend this game for someone who enjoyed Symphonia? I recently bought an Xbox 360 and saw this game while at Blockbuster a while ago, but I figured I'd look at some videos to make sure I'd like it. So far from what I've seen, I'd say it looks a lot like Symphonia, with some unique characteristics of its own.

@blackhorse1988 He means in battle, the characters are yours to move around and attack other monsters, it gives it a whole new element, you should defnitely try out Tales of Destiny for PS1, Tales of Symphina on GC, or Tales of the Abyss on PS2 (my fave one) or this one Tales of Vesperia. They are all fucking great games. Theres a whackload more, but those are the ones that I like the most.

I love those endless combos. Right now I´m in my first playthrough (collecting 7 fell arms and trying to unlock 100 man melee and then finish off duke).

Has anybody got some tips for combos or especially how to learn such long (arte-)combos. I rushed a little through the tutorials but I´d like to get some ideas and helpful tips for learning and using combos.

may not really answer much for combo but use Destruction Field. move hits like a truck.

Shining Fang > Dragon Swarm > Ghost Wolf > (They are on the ground now) Pick them up with Wolf Strike > Shining Fang > Dragon Swarm > Ghost Wolf > (You can substitute Wolf Strike with Guardian Field and vice versa) For a finish turn the dragon swarm into a burste arte, then follow it up with a mystic arte.

Honestly, if you get the "Super Chain" skills, you can chain anything together. I used to do 8 move conbos kind of midway thru the game w/ stuff like Tiger Blade-> Shining Eagle -> Shining Fang-> Guardian Field -> Azure Storm -> Raging Blast -> Destruction Field -> Lone Wolf Storm (provided this was like my 3rd playthrough, so I was able to get altered artes easily). Also for high levels, a simple little combo is Ghost Wolf -> Final Gale, then you can be creative. It's all up to you.

Well, it's a Tales game. Basically the new ones, (Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, etc.) all use the Flex-Range Linear Motion Battle System, seen above.

So yes, different characters, same essential system.

Its the same series. The Tales series is made by Namco, and is EPIC!!! Tales of Legendia and Tales of the Abyss(my absolute favorite) are for the PS2 and Tales of Vesperia is for the 360, though if you own a PS3, wait a while since they are going to release it on the PS3 with ALOT of extra including a new playable character. They made a sequel to Tales of Symphonia on the Wii and will soon release Tales of Graces, which promises to be the longest yet, also on the Wii

Judging from both Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, you characters each get a Special Skill called "Special" at level 30. Activate that skill, and then go into Over Limit. Then hold the Primary attack button while executing an Arcane Arte, or a High-level Spell.
