  • The sword is simply shitty.

  • Some facts about swords:

    1) If two swords have the same wenght, width and thickness and are made roughly of the same material they will most likely weigh the same.

    2) If saide two swords have the same point of balance, they will be similar in handling.

    3) Sharpness is determined by the angle in whick the blade is sharpened.

    4) The Celts made pattern weld swords aprox. 1500 years before the Japanese did. But metallurgy took a different turn in Europe, favoring different techniques.

    5) Both swords had to stand up to the same level of stress and where subsequently designed to do so in the best possible way.

    6) Pattern welding of steel has little to no effect on the durability compared to tempered steel swords. All it does is even out th carbonisation of the steel.

    7) A sword is not faster, sharper and more durable, just because it is japanese. THe only way a sword can be better than another is, if it was made by a better smith.

  • @BadMartini And since both Japan and Europe have a long standing tradition of weapon smithing it's safe to say they are equal each other in this craft.
