John Macaluso, storico metal drummer della scena mondiale, porterà on stage a Dicembre la musica degli Ark, con un tributo al loro album di maggior successo: "Burn The Sun". La band: John Macaluso - Drums Valentina Petrossi - Voce Fabrizio Agabiti - Chitarra Danilo Carrabino - Chitarra Emanuele Calvelli - Basso Giulio Cattivera - Tastiere + Noumeno (Instrumental Progressive Metal) Venerdì 9 Dicembre 2011 @DissestoMusicale Via del Barco, 7 Bagni di Tivoli Ingresso: 5 euro
Its ok,but its a shame the vocals sound like they were sung through a cheap mic' and recorded in a back bedroom. Otherwise ok. Sounds a little like Ronnie James Dio.........in my opinion. !
@royalty890 I don't even recall watching this vid haha. Glad you agree with my thumbed down comment, meaning you're not a brainless ass who denies facts.
@xkhuongdox The song is shitty, no emotion behind the vocalist at all and sounds too much like anything else I've heard. No dynamics to it, just to me lacks emotion of all sorts.
Thanks to Progpower we do not have ANY LIVE FOOTAGE from the reunion of Conception in 2005. No cameras allowed. You're even banned from the festival if spotted with a camera.
if this is the band that was formed after Conception, then I believe that there's a curse following those Norwegian guys :D I can't believe that such great bands like Conception and Ark are still underrated and not widely known !!
I find myself listening to this album every day. Just when I found out about Ayreon, I listened to his albums all the time as well... Ark, Ayreon and DT are still my favourite bands ever, with this album at absolute first spot.
@frehleyscomic - I've read that he's also recorded on the new Masterplan album, but I don't know if they're touring it. It would be pretty impossible to write and record an album with a band while also touring with a completely different band.
WHy? They are not the same at all. ARK is progressive intelligent music, JORN is rather boring powermetal. Wish he would go back to the progressive stuff.
not too many singers like him and Russell Allen anymore. Their voice are deep and powerful, like Gillan's voice was when he was in his prime. I like their collaborative effort. Really good stuff. This song kicks ass
but who can't sing, perhaps? My neighbor has a great voice but can't sing for shit. I can sing but have horrible voice. Allen and few others have both. Depends what you consider great voice with ability to sing. That's all...
@thedude1414 exactly.. Roy Khan, Tobias Sammet, Jorn, Russel Allen, Singer from Seventh Wonder, Marco from Northern Kings and Tarot. Rhapsody of Fire, just to name a few
He is more towards the middle, I think to try to put him in prog rock would a bit of a stretch but it would be interesting to see what would've happened if he went for more complex stuff. He sure has a powerful voice and he could do wonders with it. Clean intonation, too. He is very comfortable with even more difficult parts and flows through them effortlessly.
omfg, did you just call Jørn Lande an amateur? And Neon2 ... dude, seriously:
1) They don't even have an EN wikipedia page
2) This is prog metal; they're not related to prog metal as far as I could tell. Why would people here listen to *them*?
3) There must be at least 100 other bands out there better than those guys. Want emotion? Try Fireroses Dance by Vanden Plas or Opeth's album Damnation, just to mention a few. Oh, they're not for emo kids though. Beware.
John Macaluso's druming on ARK albums is perfect. But when he was a session musician of Y. Malmsteen on the album Alchemy he was playing awfully...
Just listen to the song "Hangar 18 Area 51"!A horrible real-time recording, sometimes too fast, too slow, and the rest of the grooves, breaks, fills aren't played on time... mistake from a professional like Mr. Macaluso:-(
Imressive, you picked up on something that an amazing drummer and Yngwie as producer both missed. Maybe they like the raw rise and fall of a rock song when the whole band is doing it together. Maybe you're the one who is missing the point. Just saying.
They were formed in 1990, released two albums in 1999 and 2001 and have apparently split up in 2002. Before forming ARK, pretty much all of these guys used to play with Yngwie Malmsteen.
god Jorn's voice at the beginning of this song always reminds me of Circus Maximus' vocalist, Michael Eriksen
