@tonyalexa They're internal 64-bit processing. But they're not native 64-bit to various DAWs. if you were to launch either Ozone or Alloy in Logic for example. The plugin is 32-bit AU.
@F1Filter - OK. It's definitely 64 bit in Cubase 6 (PC version) as the installer has both a 32 and a 64 bit version VST. I have them installed. I guess it's not yet 64 on the Mac.
@tonyalexa It's a bit puzzling. Alloy and Ozone are showing up as 32-bit AU's. But Nectar shows up as native 64-bit. Go figure. It's not a complete deal-breaker for me having to use the bit-bridge or launching a session in 32-bit mode though. BTW. I'm not singling out iZotope about this. There's plenty of other vendors out there that are still stuck in 32-bit land. UA should be getting their act together annnnny day now. Surely...
Question for you guys: Is there seriously zero-latency? I've been looking for a great master bus compressor and limiter to add some glue to a live set (everything is mixed ITB, guitars, and drums, before being sent out to the FOH)...
@yankeesstink27 Go the the Alloy page on the iZotope website and click "See how Ozone and Alloy compare". Basically, Alloy is for mixing (you use it on the individual tracks/channels) in your project while Ozone is for mastering (you use it on your final mix (typically a single wave-file) and thus affect the entire song all at once).
@ken322able No. Reason does not support third party plug-ins like the products from iZotope, though I can not exclude the possibility there may be some workaround. Try Google.
Very good plugin for my small home studio! Worth every penny and then some! Especially the ZERO LATENCY parts! Thanks guys! ow I gotta get this to use with OZONE4! LOL
Wow nice. I am totally pleased with Ozone 4, And I really like the looks of this as well. Great user interfaces. Way better than waves. I think I will try this one out about 10 days before I have the money to buy it.. Thanks!
clipping only matters for the master except for how some plugins work. but those levels top out at 0db so unless they are lit all the way full they are not clipping.
so it looks like it just comes close to clipping at some points but doesn't.
usually meters go to 0 and then have + values, but not these ones. because they are not faders, only used to judge clipping, so there is no need for any boost part of the level meter.
Yeah, finally you get info? really info? L316 is a LIMITER multiband maximizer, DON'T HAVE EQ, EXITER, TRANSIENT MOD, DYNAMICS, DE E>S>S>E>R! and of course, LIMITER! is a fully integrated tool for channel manipulation, all in one plug, not only maximizer... with Waves ($6000) you need all for separate... may be waves is only a commercial tools... with this mony I buy a good hardware processing tools. good luck
I use ozone 4 for mastering.. And I am going to buy Alloy for individual tracks..if anyone thinks different please post... When I try to use ozone 4 on a vocal track for example I get latancy beyond believe .. Even on the master fader my click track is off by an unacceptable margin .. So I assume most of us have this problem.. Or is my setup?? Will Alloy be the same??
I notice that happens as well. But I love using izotope on my overall mix. Unfortunately I'm still learning about how the individual effects actually affect each track, sound and the overall mix.
Looked into the clipping, it's clipping both meters at first... then he applies a little expansion and a little compression and only the input is steadily clipping but the output still has some peaks.. then he drops the limiter on and the peaks stop... It must have just been for dramatic effect.
I think it just keeps the clip light on if it has peaked in the last few seconds.. kinda like channel strips set to hold the peak level and show headroom.... not sure though...
Or maybe he was just trying to show the effect in a more dramatic way..
There is no headroom above zero in Digital, each time you clip the input or the output or anything else in between, it will sound bad, not to mention that normal digital meters are not that accurate because they don't show inter-smaple clipping. Lastly in digital audio you achieve nothing dramatic by pushing the sound past above its limits, Give yourself a nice 20db headroom on all channels, master peaking around -10 is pretty good.
By headroom, I was speaking on db below zero. That's what I've always considered to be headroom when speaking in digital terms. Mastering is all about preference and highly dependent on genre in my opinion...But what I was really speaking about is that perhaps he was using a clipping signal on purpose to demonstrate the effect that the plug could have.. it's more likely, i think, that he could have been pushing the gain pre-Alloy to clip into the plug than it is that his raw file was clipped.
Ozone is for mastering while this is more for the mix stage. It's low latency so you can use it on buss channels and groups. This one has sidechaining and much more creative control of the modules, which would suit mix engineers perfectily.

Any idea when we'll see native 64-bit versions of this and Ozone?
F1Filter 9 months ago
@F1Filter - They're already 64 bit. I don't know if there were prior versions of Alloy, but Ozone's been 64 bit since at least version 3.
