Spies can fake it better than you give them credit for. They were selling their roles to the Raniers' handlers. The only part that was real was when they were tied to the chair and threatened by the Raniers' handler and thugs. The sex was faked as proven by Ziva when she kneed Tony in the balls. Tony says, "What was that for?" Ziva replies, "That was definitely NOT your knee." That implies they were NOT suppose to have actual penetration to sell the ruse and she re-drew that line for Tony.

I agree, I like Ziva better than Kate. She(the character) was annoying. It was sad to see her get killed off the show, but still. Ziva is so hardcore badass.
