Stealing turtle eggs? Outrageous. Justice would mandate an especially hot place in hell for such thieves. (Unless of course the person or his family is starving and they plan to eat the eggs.) If this poor mother turtle had been laying eggs on my property I would have put up a fence or posted a sentry. I can only hope that any golfers playing behind us on the links that day were able to overcome the temptation to engage in a fling at turtle egg thievery.
Fair question. Curiousity mostly. I've never witnessed such a thing before---never seen even a chicken lay an egg, come to think of it. I'm pretty sure it's not a routinely observed occurrence around here---is it in your part of the world?
Why would one NOT want to see an egg laid by a turtle? I pity one whose world-view is so jaded that an egg-laying turtle is not a subject commanding attention - yea, even respect. Perhaps one ought to take a break from the shopping mall and get out into nature a bit more, at least in places such as Upper Michigan where nature is, at present, still tolerated.
