  • $70,000?

"... definitely a lot of money, but it's not an outrageous amount of money."

No, that is outrageous. No. I will not pay that much green to drive green.

  • Joe Biden claimed that the $862 Billion failed stimulus ($400 remains unspent) “created or saved” 750,000 jobs. Economists don’t recognize jobs saved, and the jobs saved may have been keep local agencies afloat. When the money ran out, the people lost their jobs. Currently States are considering filing bankruptcy for spending. watch?v=IqmeT5ykKf0

The Govt owns 61% of GM, GOOGLE, “GM's electric-car fantasy running out of gas” and read links. The Green Movement should be free market driven

  • Kool Aid Anyone?

  • at 70,000 i dont see to many buyers

  • This is part of the Better Place business model, and one of the reasons electric utilities are increasingly fond of the idea of EVs - soon thousands, eventually tens of millions of intelligent storage batteries that'll also become onsite UPSes when their charge capacity drops below 75% of new.

  • what he is pluging in at work then after a long day he gos home plugs his car in to his home and gets "free" power not just for his house but the block , crap i live next to the wronge pepole

  • Is it clean car if it uses electricity what comes from nuclear shyt?

  • Yes, hippies. The by product of nuclear energy is nothing but heat and water vapor when compared to coal based power plants, it's way cleaner. If global warming morons got off their high chairs and stopped scaring people about nuclear energy, CO2 emmissions would have curbed decades ago. Instead it got worst.

  • What about waste? Radioactive?

And I'm far from hippies... :D It seems that you are more than me.

  • 2:23 - the wheels doesn't look like they are rolling :)

  • What the hell is the point of this car? Makes no damm sense. Plus the price. $70k for a Scion? Stupid.

Why don't you use that idea for your house then you charge your car?

  • Where are the' zero point energy' cars, generators etc....we know its out there.

This is rubbish, the car just sucks energy then puts it back.

  • I want one

  • me too !!!!

  • Interesting idea, especially for places with reoccuring power outages... the only problem is that the circuits bringing power into the car lose something on the order of 15% give or take and if you need to put that power back into the grid you lose ANOTHER 15% or so... you losing a lot of energy giving back to the grid as heat...

  • Exactly what I was thinking. Whats the point? That is a 27.75% loss of power, assuming 85% efficiency with the car's charging system(very conservative and I guess it is lower than that), when charging the car and then discharging back into the grid again. Very inefficient, and I don't get the point. Also, these cars carry a very small charge in the scheme of things. Not to mention peak demand is in the middle of the day, when these vehicles will be on the road. I think he's stealing power.

  • so he takes electric charge from the uni ,then takes it home and powers is house /grid

mmmmmh wont be long before they work out what hes doing

    lol

  • my thoughts exactly. stealing power...

  • So he runs a car on electricity that comes from burning fossil fuels. Cool.

  • Where I live we get electricity from nuclear plants. So if I had this car it would really be clean and green.

  • What exactly is your point? I stated that my electric provider is a nuclear plant. So using an electric car for me would be a near zero carbon footprint.

  • I was joking but telling the truth. Sorry I was tired and I went around trolling people on youtube.

  • very efficient.

  • he states-

that the car is only as green as the electricity source, which solar and wind, as well as oceanic and thermal are taking hold.

  • Hey guys it's EXPERIMENTAL.... it's not ready to be bought at WalMart yet. He's just showing that a car can be more than just a user of electricity. He was getting his power from a power station, that is a place where he is supposed to plug his car into, not stealing. WATCH the video and make an effort not to be a slug.

  • Why not power your fucking car!!!!!

  • What? Do you know what you are saying right now?

  • yep...it's conspiracy...

  • Much the same as me taking all the sweetener packets at the coffee shop, this guy runs his efficiency studio apt off of power he gets from work. wow. I always wonder if people this fussy ever become millionaires

  • So everyday he goes to work and steal electricity from the university and then dump it back to the grid to get paid when he gets home. Nice.

  • I agree, not a good way for everyone to steal electricity though because of initial investment. I mean he got his 70K from the university too LOL.

  • how do u keep videos playing one after another without having to click on what video u wanna watch

  • Comment removed

  • $70.000 are you kidding ?

Put a brushless outrunner motor in each wheel + Li-po batteries and you have a very efficient car for for $10.000

If GMC would have invest in electric cars 5 years ago, it would not be in banckrupsy now.

Or maybe GMC don't want to hurt his friends USA oil compagnies .....

  • a 70,000$ toaster oven, put it in a better designed car and it might be worth it.

  • Thats awesome stealing money from power grids YAY

  • So from what I've hear is this guy charges his car quickly at the university and when he gets home back feeds power into the grid powering his home with enough extra power to power half his street?! How is this guy still working there wouldn't this be stealing from the university? electricity isn't free someone is always paying for it. the college is paying for it and then he is selling the power back to the electric company when he gets home?

  • $70,000 for a Scion lolololol.

  • this is too expensive, ill surely buy a electric car of about 30.000$ not more

  • $70,000 is alot of money....

  • how old is the original post and video ?

  • petrol if despairing , we must then adopt such an invention like this Electric car , we must encourage it to be the future car , we don't need anymore to rely on petrol ... am i right ?

  • Yes. Have you heard of the GM EV1? It was an EV that was crushed by GM.

  • Not really -- right now America uses 47.4 Million Barrels of Oil Equivalent (meaning converting coal, hydroelectric, wind, solar, natural gas, etc.) of which 19 Million Barrerls/Day of oil is used and 11.9 Million (Barrels,Equivalent)/Day is natural gas. Adding that up we see that 30.9 Million BOE is from petroleum. Therefore 30.9/47.4 is the fractional amount (and multiple that number by 100) to achieve the percentile amount of energy we use per day from petroleum.

  • Wind and solar comprise a dismal 76,000 BoE/Day of our energy needs. Sure, doubling that output every two years will be easy because right now about 0.16% of our energy comes from these sources. From my understanding this car takes a charge from the power plant (which may be coal, natural gas, or some other form of energy) and simple charges like a normal car yet has the ability to backfeed into the grid during peak times when power plants struggle to meet demand.

  • hahaha, the nickel metal gets extracted from somewhere in Canada, then it is being taken to Europe for a further process.... It is being taken to China later on for another process and it finally ends up in Japan to be able to fit into the battery of an electric car. It is being said that electric cars actually do cause more harm to the environment because of they way they are being made......

  • This isn't a Prius. The vehicle uses Lithium Ion batteries, not Nimh. Please try again. Realize that 80-85% of the energy used by a car in it's full lifecycle is expended during the actual driving. And do you think once we get serious about making these cars (we haven't even started yet right now) we'd still be shipping around materials all over the world? No, we'd be building the batteries right here in the USA. This is why Obama's supporting battery manufacturing in the US.

  • $70.000 no thanks I'll convert my own for 10,000.

  • @edstar83 I converted my own for $2000. hahaha.

  • yea this is genius, he steals electricity from the university and uses it to drive around for free, the uses it to power stuff in his house!

  • why expend the effort on a lost cause.

things should have been done long ago.

immigration will get worse. immigrants are far more powerful than the populace who let them in. everybody who reads this will see HOW lost it is. envorinmentalists TOLD YOU 50 FUCKING YEARS AGO TO CUT IT OUT. what was YOUR response? make babies as fast as you can, support MASS immigration, and give immigrants MORE BENEFITS FOR MORE KIDS. Did any of you FOOLS think this could go on forever with no consequences?

  • yes our grandparents were foolish, but should we repeat the mistake or simply make it worse?

  • I hate youtubers. Look at the mess here about something so simple. What is happening to us all?

  • the same thing that has always happened to us, we are bombarded from every side by little bits of truth mixed with alot of misinformation and we fight and create divisions amongst ourselves over trivial things because it is easier than finding the points where we agree and actually doing something about it.

  • Thing is, I don't see it as easier to find arguments. I see it as an effort. I guess it just comes naturally to some people. Haha.

  • some arguments are worth having :^ ) i just notice that alot of the people who argue on YT will be basically on the same side about most common issues, but still find ways to make an argument about it. like the 2 guys that were arguing when You first commented here- one was for environmental issues and one was about population control...both fall into the same catagory, but the one was so busy insulting the other that there was no way to agree. that is what's killing humanity in the long run

  • i'll say it again, there is NOTHING that you CLOWNS can do with your energy juggling that is going to make ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL. you WILL make more babies and you WILL allow mass immigration, and that will ruin you, congest you, pollute you, and you deserve it. every one of you.

  • FUCK YOU! You have no idea.

  • no idea of what, fuck you?

    SHOW me where im wrong.

so many of the world's problems stem from overpopulation. energy alone. where are we gonna get more energy? from fuck you? LOL

  • first off, why do you say "you guys" i believe you're a part of this. secondly, yes we waste alot but overpopulation is not a very big problem and will not become one. Third why the hell do you say "you deserve it." If ur such a fucking tree hugger do something about it and i don't think we deserve it since humanity has done some amazingly wonderful things on this planet. we're not as bad as you think.

  • i didnt say "you guys" i said you CLOWNS.

im a part of what?? OVERPOPULATION IS NOT A VERY BIG PROBLEM? and will not become one LOL! i say you deserve it because most of you GUYS are making babies, many of you cant even support them! im not a FUCKING tree hugger LOL! do what about it? THIS is what im doing about it. making people aware of what THEY DONT WANT TO THINK ABOUT, POPULATION GROWTH AS IT RELATES to the environment, overcrowding, natural rescources and energy. AND economy!

  • you guys you clowns you know what i meant. i mean you are a part of the problem to so shut the fuck up! you make it sound like everyone deserves to die except for you. lol ur not a tree hugger eh? lets look at your username: GREENxiSxDEAD green is dead. hmm i wonder what that could possibly be referring to...

  • keep wondering FOOL.

    "invironment"?

just ANOTHER shit for brains trying to make an argument. someone far lesser than me can top you faggot...

The MAKE BABY, MAKE BABY BREEDING SOWS AND THEIR UNFAITHFUL STUD HUSBANDS have brought about their own demise. they already breathe polluted air and DRINK RECYCLED TOILET WASTE. they dont like the taste of the CHEMICALS put in the water to mask the TASTE OF THEIR OWN SHIT so they complain about THAT instead of the massive influx of aliens who hate them

  • Why not at least try? More babies will be made, true. Hopefully the mass immigration B.S. stops. But doing shit the same sloppy way, with tons more people, will just be unhealthy and lazy.

  • 500,000 for a fuel cell car? i am going to be rich. when i come out with my car. it runs on water but i will sell it for 10k

  • kamak894, what's the difference? a truly demented person could just as easily bomb your house rather than tamper with a chord. Every new technology is considered dangerous at first

  • doesnt matter WHAT you clowns do with energy. you will continue to make babies and encourage your filthy immigrants to make babies. the populaiton will continue to soar, and ALL the benefits of your little tricks will be WIPED OUT.

  • yes mate, you're in the new world order, good luck with the rich selfish c&&ts that want your fellow humans dead.

  • the new world order is the OBAMA-NATION. nothing having to do with me. c&&ts? CUNTS! ... rich selfish? you just showed your (albeit confused) hand. youre jealous of other peoples money. so please allow me to respond in a way that even you can understand!!!

    Fuck you.

  • densz do you even know what the new world order is? is has nothing to do with the invironment

  • Yes I do, and yes it does.

  • lol @ invironment. Are you full-retard?

  • Is it safe to leave your car feeding energy like that? What if some truly disturbed person tries to tamper with your car or the cord or the electricity source ?

  • So he powers his home on power he stole from work. Now am I the only one who thinks he should taxed on this. Maybe it is time for the IRS to come see him.

  • What's the point? The university has a more eco-friendly way of making electricity than the local power company, so he charges his car at school and uses it to power his house? That's the dumbest thing ever!

If that car actually has enough electricity to power several houses and still drive back to work in the morning, the whole back end of it must be nothing but batteries. So he designed a giant battery on wheels to steal power from his employer and sell it back to the electric company?

  • racq, you hit the nail on the head when you said "steal power from his employer and sell it back to the electric company" Actually this whole concept is a big lie. Physics predicts that energy conversion...of any type such as charging batteries or feeding power back into the grid is a net loss operation. Battery charging alone burns up at least 10% of the energy in heat. By not telling about the real efficiencies of the process he is telling a half truth. What government grant paid for this?

  • Comment removed

  • I would have rather heard your opinion, even if I disagreed...than some BS about the car being gay. If you would like people to persieve you as having a valid opinion, then have an opinion. Do not reply with senselessness...If there is people susceptible then there are those that are not. Those that are not should have more opinions than gay. Sorry for the assumptions but...what else could I get out of a comment like that?

  • yer pretty gay.

  • That's just what we need, a $70,000 automobile. My house isn't even worth that much anymore! Bring back the Model T (concept). People who want to be green can drive a nice electric golf cart for $4000! Street legal with lights and turn signals. We need practical solutions not this ivory tower stuff. I'm converting my car to methane made from compost. Cost of conversion? Less than $1000 for two 30lb propane tanks, RV tank switcher valve, new fuel line & labor.

  • So he's taking electricity from the university and transferring it to his home.. smart man.

  • LOL!! ROTFL!

The car's going to be a net consumer of electrical energy (To charge it's batteries...duh.) Why are you going to go the other way and sell it back? I must be missing something.

It DOES give the owner a way to get part of his $70K back...Charge it from A (The University lets say.) and sell it back at "B" (Your house.) The possibilities are GREAT! Run a cord to your neighbors garage in the middle of the night, and steal some juice and get $! LOL

  • Karma by Fisker blows this car away

  • One problem I have with electric cars are the batteries.

Has anyone done research on batteries and the process of making/disposing/recycling them?

Are batteries more safe than gasoline?

Trees take the CO2 from burning the gasoline and convert it to O2. There are other substances that are not good for us or anything else for that matter.

Oil is dead organic matter, mostly carbon.

Take a look at everything you can find on batteries before you make a decision.

  • we will run out of Electric! lol

  • maybe a more aerodynamic car?

  • This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

Drain power out of the grid into tiny inefficient batteries and then feed the tiny amount back again? How is this "saving" any electricity?

  • I agree. I'm guessing that the process that this car uses to generate energy is not very efficient. Leave power generation to devices that are built for just that. (power plants)

  • An efficient generator would have to be the size of that car no space for people, cargo battries, ect to provide all the energy needs for 2 or so homes Just becoUS someone says it dosent mean its true .

  • Charge it at work, put back into grid at home. Save on home electric bill.

  • Right. Stick it to the man. That is, until you're fired because too many employees are hiking up the firm's energy bill.

  • Perpectual motion is impossible.

  • nice, i love it, we need this.

    i saw a lotus electric 0-100 in 6 seconds

    its for sale in holland

  • you fuckers aren't doing anything to help the environment! You are just using another source of power that is just as damaging as petrol! hasn't anyone heard of free engergy!!

  • free energy dosent exites, energy can not be genrated from nothing but I transforms from a form to another

  • You are correct that matter cannot be created or destroyed. It is merely redistributed into other forms. Once solar panels are capable of charging a car such as this Scion eBox, electric vehicles can easily become mainstream and bigwigs in the oil industry will be a thing of the past.

  • wow! Thatz cool! *****5/5***** i think about to make my bycicle electric :)) lol

  • è tardi....

  • More "Green Think" that stinks. Sigh.

  • Gay - this only LEVELS peak demand which fluctuates throughout the day, it does not address the problem of base load usage exceeding base load supply. If anything, it makes it worse as more people will be filling their cars with 'electricity' instead of gas. That would help with carbon emmissions, but it would not help the grid very much at all. Lame

  • Unless the cars were also fitted with the new generation of solar cells now being developed. In that case cars not being driven will be powering the grid. It addresses also a cost effectiveness issue by making the car battery dual use.

  • It's too bad the government is suppressing this technology as well as many others. The automakers could make electric cars that get 300 miles per charge, but the oil companies wouldn't like that. No wonder the big 3 are going doing. They deserve to, and they don't deserve shit for bail-out money if they're just gonna continue their old ways. Now they're just gonna take that money and move their plants to South America. Why the hell should I pay taxes to these criminals!!!

  • your one crazy mother fucker... first off the us has a free market economy the government cant control shit other than taxes nd the norm.. and anyone can do anything but depends is putting a battery though those loads gonna last very long u have to think bout it being used in the normal persons life

  • You're living in a dream world dude. If you haven't figured out that the major auto companies and the oil companies are conspiring to keep us on oil for as long as they can, you're in for a rude awakening. Ford has already made a diesel car called the Fiesta ECOnetic that gets 65mpg, but guess what, they won't sell it in the U.S.!!! Wake up.

  • i wish the would sell the Fiesta in the us,why dont they?

  • with mass production the price can be brought down to the price of the Scion it was made from. if everyone had such cars we could get rid of the power company. commerical buildings can make their own power. since everyone has 2 cars they put a lot of power into the grid.

  • v2g sounds like a big waste of money. if purpose of v2g is to have carbon free vehicle, then more power to you. however, if they want to push power back onto the grid (because more electricity is being consumed than produced?), then it's a futile attempt. people in general waste electricity because it's cheap. if you want to address the power consumption problem, people should be looking at the demand side (save electricity; eg. turn off lights when leave room), not the supply side.

  • If this guy ever crashes, all the houses on his block are going to go dark. That's a lot of pressure.

  • This is interesting, I'd like to see it get more funding... as parts become readily available I imagine the cost to produce would go down.

He claims his car is providing power to his neibourhood... A previous poster mentioned that the idea would be the cars would be used en-masse to store our renewable power, with refinement and funding this looks really viable to me...

In contrast a common tactic of oil companies now is to use their tankers as storage and only unload when price is up.

  • Just get a hybrid lol, they dont cost 70 grand.

  • this is dumb, that car's battery probably only has a working range of 50 miles or so. It cannot feasibly feed power back into the grid, or else you will just have a empty battery and a car that needs to be recharged before it can move again.

Plus, you are losing electricity each time you charge the car/ plug it back into the grid in the form of heat. I bet that charger is only 80-90% efficient.

  • this is awesome

  • A key issue the video didn't explain very well but that this car helps is that one of the biggest criticisms of intermittent green power like wind, wave and solar is that it isn't necessarily available when electricity is needed. So many such cars plugged into the grid could act like a storage bank for the solar, wind and wave energies.

  • another soso university pipe dream...

  • thats a good idea but u need money to charge it at home and well.. ya

  • electric cars is an old idea that has been proven to work but will it be mass produced? naa i dont think so. i wont buy one nothing like a big old toilet going down the road and doing 2 miles per gallon

  • That engine looks cool.

  • Gay....

  • As if, unless you think this car takes it up the tailpipe than I guess it's not gay. Really, if you are going to waste the space here at least have a valid opinion...not sit there like some G unit drone, spewing drivle for attention. THEY SAY IT ONLY TAKES 10% OF US TO CHANGE THE WORLD. Obviously you are not one of them...Great input - MORON

  • While I'll admit my reply was crude... I am certainly not moron, nor am I a G-Unit drone. In fact I could call your a number of names, but calling you a tree hugging swine won't get me anywhere... As for only taking 10% of the population to change the world, it just makes proves that 10% of the population is susceptible to the constant brainwashing by the media, leftist politicians, and douche bag celebrities.

  • Although I am nothing close to a tree hugger and I do not think that this is a GREAT idea, I would expect someone with your vocabulary to come up with something more descriptive than gay...And that really was the comment that I was making. Other than that I have nothing against you but against everyone out there with and opinion that ammounts to nothing more than GAY...If we are to do anything, than we need open discussion from people of intelligence.

  • Just ignore guys like this. They are a plague to the internet because they have to find attention to themselves, and that is through being assholes. Ignore him, and he'll find something else to do with his life.

  • btw. Electric/hybrid cars are not the answer... Finding an alternative fuel (ie. Hydrogen) that can be easily utilized by vehicles we already have would certainly be a better option.

  • The only problem is that the amount of energy required to make hydrogen makes it rather inefficient. What most people don't realize with the studies that were done is that the costs used were subsidized by the government.

I would rather have the standard car be a hybrid at this point than the old gasoline models we have going around. At least with electricity we aren't at the mercy of oil companies (as there are many ways to make electricity, but only a few for gasoline).

  • Yeah true the only reason our government is funding fuel cell is so gas company's won't die out.

  • that car is fast O_O...

  • I was just browsing through youtube

  • so the car actually produces electricity...?? I don't think so... so I don't think being able to feed it back is any good.

  • the idea is that its like a movable battery sure its kinda useless but its a cool idea

  • I see this primarily as a car, and secondly a moving battery. Moving battery would be nice for an example in a cottage without electricity.

I don't know if you have a lot of those in US, but in my country (Finland) many people are having summer cottages and many of them have only generators, wind/solar power or no electricity at all. Moving battery would be good to have in there sometimes.

Electric car is superior compared to ancient fossil tech. That's the engineers opinion.

  • i agree. this car is worthless; the amount of electricity it can pump back into the grid is just a drop in the bucket. they would need to give these things away for free in order to make a difference. i think pumping electricity back into a grid is a fantastic idea; however doing it via v2g sounds like bad roi.

  • mass produce, \/ Cost

  • Before the customers buy those cars, they have to make chargers all over the country. The charger station have to be in every gas-station.

If they dont do that, the customers will not earn to buy this car. the car is dangerous when you crash ( weak), and in most countries, you have to pay to charge your car. Besides, there is few chargingstations around (today). In a year, it will cost you much. Then its better to buy a "normal" car, thats it safer, easiest and even more comfortable.

  • Let them make the chargers all over the country and create thousands of jobs we need ideas that can sell! Yes We can!!

  • I live in Canada and everywhere we park there is a place to plug in. Gas stations to charge your car? Gas stations serve gas not electricity. Gas stations would not be needed.

The place you work or shop needs to put chargers there, not a Gas Station.

It is also the same car as a gas one just running on electricity, so it is just as safe as every other car on the road.

Your opinion was noted just not taken seriously.

  • I live in Norway, and nowhere we park, there is no place to plug in. Just few places.

The producers of "Think" cars here in Norway, have got help from the goverment to not get bankruptcy. Still, the producers of the cars will not earn enough to selling them.

    1. reason: We have to pay to charge the car

    2. the winter is freezy, the car wont starts at -15 celcius

    3. Its difficult to find places to charge.

    4. If you charge at home, you using lots of electricety, and its that cost alot.

  • 1. People pay for gas, so paying of energy normal, I think

    2. Winter is freezy sometimes here, yes, but I don't see why electric car wouldn't start. Yes battery must be heated, but gas engine must be heated too!

    3. Well in Finland, your neighbouring country, we have a lot of connections for heating up the cars in winter time on parking lots. So why not using the same plugs for fillup?

    4. Electricity needed by car is cheap compared to gas. And electric car don't need energy as much as fossil.

  • Kirax13:

Electric cars don't "Start" they are just turned on. -15c is nothing for any electric motor that I know of. Gas motors are started with an electric motor and they start our cars here where the normal temps are below -15c. In fact it was -37c this winter and cars started as long as you plugged them in to keep the oil from freezing.

Your country provides its neighbors with electricity via the Hydroelectric dams you have.

Electricity is surely cheaper in your country than gasoline.

  • the rain is a problem??

    la llubia es un problema??

  • lol, no, why would it be?

  • I better get the Honda Clarity, that uses hydrogen..........and what is the only emmison???? WATER!!!!!!!

  • I love it!

  • They are too expensive because there is no mass production. Once many are made the price will plumett

  • He would have made it more aerodynamic, but that's no use on a vehicle that never exceeds 20 kilometers an hour.

  • Buen video

  • These cars are too expensive...

  • 70g for that shiet...fuck that GAS CARS ALL THE WAY lol

  • sub(4)sub?

  • This is great, no more wars for petrol

  • am just wondering what gona happen to the oil markets and if outher countrys have thes technolgy.

  • Demand for oil goes down, price for oil goes down. doesn't make a difference if other countries have it unless they use it and even then it would take a lot of these to make a difference.

  • so whats the point?

  • they need to work on cars with solar light just light put on roof of a car and go

You bet they have it but if they do then they wouldnt have us to work so hard in buying MONEY!

  • have you not seen the prototype solar cars, they have a top speed of like 10-12mph or something,

and from 1 days sunlight you could probably use it

for like 4 hours. they're not exactly compatable

    with most peoples lives.

  • I dont get to hear anything lol not unless I get it from utube lol thanks

I live in boooneys lo and the people here are so far behind

  • sucksssssssss

  • was that a scion

  • Yes It's a converted Scion xB called eBox, Google ebox or search youtube & you can find out much more. Tom Hanks has an eBox.

  • thanx
