A dollar short, but responding months later... Thanks for the correct footage. Amazing it could make all those turns while in tow. Such a fine old dining car. I hope to see photos or video of the progress they've made. I'm still hoping to save an old Pullman train car that's in northern Mexico. It will cost me less than $1,000 to buy but probably $20K to move. Wait till the US Customs guys see my train arrive at the border crossing...ha!
Car looks pretty decent inside usually by this time their gutted out and trashed. How did this car end up in Maine anyways in the first place? Im from maine and never heard of any great northern stuff over here
For the record, the car is a "Ranch Car" which ran on the Great Northern's premier passenger train, "The Empire Builder". The car is NOT a dining car; it is a lunch counter coffee shop lounge car. Its function was to provide lower priced meals and as a lounge for coach passengers.
At 3:31 TV news achor states that the train car is 90 feet long...make that 50-60 feet by my estimate. Great to see the engineering involved in relocating a rail car and it's getting some life renewal!

The car is 85 feet long. White Pine Lake was a lounge diner for coach passengers on the Great Northern's Empire Builder.

@HunterMann I would have to say that your estimate would be wrong.I have hauled a similar car from Trinity Newfoundland to Truro NS.
