There are many videos here on Youtube of them performing live and NOT lip-syncing, but in those days it was the practice on Top Of The Pops to lip sync to your hit. When I interviwed John Otway some years ago he discussed this.
@Babyhowdy233 I know I was there then Margaret Thatcher commented on it. But after hearing Joy Division playing live on TOTP, I thought it a good idea if they resorted to miming.
