  • Do the old mulsanne or do they do the bugatti circuit?

  • @IEATU95 full le mans track including the massive mulsanne broken up by 2 chicanes ;)

  • poor ferrari its so sad for it. what ? theres an audi in the crash, dont care about it

  • i laughed at the guy running away from the tires

  • @Light0ut1109 what are you on about ? This was the Dunlop curves at Le Mans in 2011! Not sure if your serious or playing stupid but these cars have never raced Watkins glen!!! I've got this race on DVD and watch le mans every year (went in 2009) so I'm pretty confident this is le mans :)

  • this was at watkins glen

  • McNIsh had a hell of a luck to escape uninjured but all that bunch of debris crashing behind the wall could have killed some bystander too...unbelievable nobody got hit.

  • Comment removed

  • Welp, im never driving that car on Forza 4.

Seriously though that guy is fucking lucky.

  • @PersistentResistance He hit the ferrari so he flew of, not by it self! But still, he waas still as you said, fucking lucky! :)

  • Italian (Ferrari) with 58 on it..........sign of the future?

  • Comment removed

  • OOOMMMGGG!!!! the audi is OK?

  • Look at all the wreckage coming over that wall. What a luck that no one got seriously hurt...

  • Maybe not a good idea to mix those 2 classes, just as why we dont see cooldown laps while qualifyings anymore. Reaction time is useless then.

  • LOL @ Steward with blue shirt at 2:33 it was like: WTF? and then the wheel falls at his side! BALLS OF STEEL!!

  • Can you imagine taking your shots and see the Audi get bigger and bigger REAL QUICK. Thinking, of F*** no time to run, lets at least finish the shots and die then....OMG And then the release, "Wuhuuu, MADE IT!" Just unbelievable lucky all these guys. Even the wheel could kill you in a split second.

  • and then there is the carbon fiber bits. When the Carbon breaks it forms some nasty sharp edges. It is light alright but man it can cut you easily...just....WOW. So glad the driver made it and doesn't have to live with having killed somebody in this. Bad chain of incidents.

  • It was physics people, no "God" was involved the majority of the weight was behind the barrier, thus when the car came to a stop atop the barrier, some force, probably the angle of the barrier turned the car, thus the weight was the determining factor in the fall of the car.

  • @Xtrovid BELIEVE IN GOD!!!!!

  • @Bugattiveyron2fast Do i have to in order to explain physics to a couple of no-brain youtube commentors? no! stop basing your lives off of a 2,000 year old fairy tale...

  • @Bugattiveyron2fast i have to buy a fictional book to understand cars... and BELIEVE IT. the true problem with our world, people take fiction as truth.

  • @Xtrovid

It's a miracle that no one got hurt.

it seemed that someone pushed the car off the barriers

  • Comment removed

  • the car was going off the barrier it was gonna fall over the photographers, from 0:15 to 0:16 it was the hand of God taking the car back

  • @FORD427W I was about the post the same thing. You can see a sign that says "GOD was here"

  • @FORD427W Hand of God......Physics....... All the same thing right??????

  • First 15seconds "omg, omg, omg, Omg" lo

  • Comment removed

  • 3.43 to 3.45 bmw omg

  • Gotta love the photographer in blue walking away from there. He's got no idea what's happening until a freaking tyre comes bouncing after his ass!

  • bet there's a big brown patch in mcnish's pants :D he deserved a longer run in f1 :( shame...

  • 2:26 Lol At the guy trying to protect his motorcycle from the car instead of run for his life.

  • It is horrible, but i actually laughed at cameraman being chased by a wheel

  • ouch

  • @thornrev - two men and a woman... Tho I'm not sure their names ATM (I'm terrible at remembering names)

  • a little bt like in final estination :P

  • lol the guy with the scooter was the luckiest one!

  • Amazing to see how the Peugeot crew got worried about the crash too. It shows that even though they compete for different companies, there's a true friendship outside the races or where someone gets in trouble.

  • i bet his head was spinning for a long time after that crash

  • A lotta OMG's goin on there....

  • is it 3 men commentating or 2 men and 1 woman?

  • I bet them photographers shit themself's then the car fliped

  • Auto Racing.....THE ONLY REAL SPORT!

    Glad no one was hurt.

  • fuck you ferrari ! they can be legends on the track in past but now are slow shits wich only can fuck of other cars not to win a race !!!

Ban a fucking ferrari from Le Mans Series !

  • @stanchomarinov - Geez they're running in another class.

  • wow, its amazing to think his only injury was a graze- from where he scratched himself on a peice of broken carbon fibre as he climbed from the wreckage! Was at la sarthe when this happened, the spectators reactions were priceless!

  • Some people actually got hit with debris. You can see it if you look closely, over and over again.

  • Wondering why we only see an on board view from the number 1 Audi?? Surely mcnish had a camera in his car aswell so why have we never seen the footage???

  • Weird to have a lady commentating, lol. Obviously she must have a motor sport background, but still.

  • @AdamAus85 She is a racing driver.

  • man if R18 exploded it would have been a 1955 disaster once again...goodness me

  • What track is this?

  • @Lamboman1016 circuit de la sarthe

  • I'm just glad nobody got seriously hurt/killed. That was one major smash.

  • has anyone noticed that if Audi didn't go with the close cockpit this year, McNish would be dead? talk about timing by Audi

  • Spectacular crash

  • Looks like an obvious place for catchfencing...

  • Germany is the shit !

  • Look at the guy in the light blue vest at 2:33. A tire is flying up in the air about to come down on his head and he don't have the slightest idea. He's looking off in the other direction. I finally hits the ground just a few feet away. C'mon, man, you got to pay attention.

  • A woman commentator? "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god". Thanks love, that was really helpful commentating.

  • thanks for audi´s safety in this situation...

  • Whoa..at least the 458 Italia's body still in good shape O_O .

  • @bonsema1 he had no choise otherwise the Audis would have done a redbull

  • get that bitch to make some tea.........

  • As long as the person is alive that is all it matters. The machine is re-buildable :)

  • allan mcnish in fact pulled a very very foolish move there...

  • That looked like it hurt, gotta knock the wind outta you

  • Freeze frame at 2:23 if that car would have gone 1 foot higher it would have cleared the wall and hit the cameramen, they are lucky.

  • 2:25 crap your pants gentelman.

  • its a miracle that noone of the marshalls and cameramans got injured from debrees

  • McNish has always been a suicide

  • Who is the woman commentating alongside Ben Edwards?

  • @UsonianAC Firstly i believe its Martin Haven ;) and its Liz Halliday

  • @780Motorsports Yes, it's Liz Halliday. I knew one of the commentators sounded like an American woman.

  • ferrari 2 x 0 audi!!

  • almost had their cappas detated!

  • looked like a bit of a knob move.... Nowhere to undertake...

  • I think Le Mans 2011 was like 1993 in F1. Two miracles, everybody is ok. But next year, Audi should change the visibility of the driver in R18 cockpit. I don't want of a new Imola 1994.

  • @fdlmotorsports very well said. that weekend in 94 was just the complete opposite of 93.

  • @fdlmotorsports i dont think the visibility of the audi was a problem, it was the backmarker not checking his mirrors or observing the blue flags and maintaining his line, still its just one of those things that happens in racing, however i do think the in 2011 the cars are far far safer than in f1 in 1993

  • Comment removed

  • I still squirm for the photogrpahers/marshalls who were inches from a face full of car

  • i want to see the crash from the photographers view that almost got hit.

  • poor guy who crashed... poor audi... poor race track...

  • these are the times when you sit back and think why they say motor sport is the most dangerous sport, R.I.P Dan Wheldon.

  • 00:04 ahahaha look at the reported running away from the wheel XD

  • The woman who commentated on this was the most fucking annoying commentator I've ever heard.

  • im hoping to be one day a le mans racer, and if this happens to i would say thank you god for saving my life , thank you for giving me a second chance of life, and my pant would have been full of shi..

  • from this it looks like McNish would never have made the turn, way too much speed.

  • the forgot about the ferrari ^^

  • I still cannot BELIEVE how lucky those people on the sidelines were, the way the car teetered on the top of the barrier. If it'd gone over they'd be dead. No idea how no one was killed in this.

  • @HuDaFuK One of the photographers dives for the ground and where he was gets showered in carbon. Stunning luck for none of them to get hit by debris too.

  • @HuDaFuK Agreed, the amount of people there it's unbelievable that the wheel that flew off didn't maul anybody to death.

  • The cause of the two Audis crashing are the slower cars

  • typical audi driver up your back end on the motorway :D

  • Im not even a German and i love German Cars! I drive a Q7 TDi!

  • Fuck audis and anybody that likes them =)

  • Comment removed

  • 0:04 - its funny how that photographer is running for his life being chased by a wheel :D

  • Oh my goodness stupid annoying female commentator "OOOOOH MY GOD"

    Shut up.

  • just imagine if that other car was one of the corvette's there will be a tsunami of total hatred towards the Americans from across the pond not that they already hate uncle sam from the get go and surely will get blame 100% on this matter. thanks goodness its one of the ferrari's

  • the problem is not different classes racing at the same time. As much as i respect Alan Macnish and what he has done for Porsche and what a great driver he is. wtf is he doing driving that hard when he is less then an hour 24 hour race

  • @MrPorsche91730 i have sat in the audi r18 at a car showing and you can BARELY see over the wheel wells. he wouldnt have been able to see the ferrari. Try laying down in your bathtub. its sort of like that

  • @mrtitsmigee i never said anything about him not being able to see the ferrari. i said wtf is he doing driving that hard less then an hour into a 24 hour race. i think he was just being careless and to agressive. a race car driver needs to think a couple of turns ahead. and seeing how much faster the audi tdi is to a ferrari he should of wated for a better passing oppurnity

  • @mrtitsmigee so you are saying the ferrari is still invisible no matter how far ahead it was? 20 car lenghts or 2? thats pure bs. he knew it was there. he might of not known exactly where the ferrari was, he might of lost sight of it when it was1 to 5 car lenghts ahead, but he knew it was there, if you get what im sayin. and like i said a race car driver needs to think a couple of turns ahead, and you still dont understand the fact he is driving to hard to early.

  • lol ferraris always seem to be wrecking the audis

  • I want my house built out of that car. I live in hurricane territory.

  • McNish's fault

  • Buy Audis! Good for your safety and good for our german economy ;D

  • @mcrubar

my neighbor can agree with you. his A6 was on a head on collision course with a drunk driver on the highway. he stopped, and the drunk driver hit him doing 85. he had no injuries

  • @mcrubar

85 mph i meant to say. just over 130 km/h

  • Comment removed

  • The debate about having different car classes in the same race will go on and on, but if the Ferrari had just come out of the pits, not yet up to race pace and with one Audi rampaging towards it that it can ALREADY see, what the f.., sorry, what the hell was it doing going for the racing line to the apex?

  • Cause of the FUCKING FERRARI.

  • thumbs up to engineers

  • Boring.

  • @19del67 i have to agree, he might have had a chance in the r15 or r10. but have that happend in the r8 he would have died

  • Mc Nish you have to stop your carrere in Audi's team, i cannot excuse your attitude.... Le Mans is an endurance race....

  • It isn't a testament. It is 2011 motorsport. Why do people say that. People could get out 5 years ago with a bit more bruising that McNish. I hate it when people say that.

  • Half a mile faster, or haf

  • The cameraman is fuckin Epic

  • The rest of the world must learn from Imola circuit now, its's the safest one with CEA technics that can remove a car from a track in 30 seconds and got all the angles fully protected.

  • @ProGamingZon3 maybe so, however imola is now at days a relative slow track and they could not clean up THAT mess and fix the track in 30 min or 45 min for that matter

  • omg i cannot believe he walk away from that wow

  • @ 2:27 you can see a Photographer getting hit by a piece of the car and dropping a $5,000 + lens right on the front of it, a lot of collateral damage.

  • @mteg9 Fortunatelly we got life garancies on those lens >_> cause they can hit 15k euros

  • @mteg9 There are at least two of them; one is wearing a red shirt with a blue vest over it (he drops a big white Canon lens) and the other is wearing an orange vest (he drops a big black lens which looks like a Nikon 200-400).

Many of these are full time but lot of these guys are only part time photographers. They do a good job but they have to buy their own gear. I have done work like this and the way you get paid, if you're lucky you can pay off your gear in a few years. Poor bastards.

  • The bike wins!

  • they need catch fencing!!

  • im buying an audi!

  • Comment removed

  • @iragekao what, so the wheels come off from a mild sideswipe? Vorsprung durch technik, my ar$e ))) Mind you, Hannu Mikkola's one stayed on all fours even when he drove into Finnish pine trees, perhaps Ingolstadt just screwed them together better in the '80s...

  • OH MY GOD!!!!

  • The dude in orange is pretty lucky at 2:23!

  • If that was an Audi R10 of a few years ago he'd have been history.

  • @b4d69 maybe, i think he would have made it however he would have been injuried

  • Wow how scary was that!!! Shows how strong the cars are though as Mcnish walked away. Must have been terrifying for the people behind that wall as well..

  • Just before the main impact, McNish hit a different bit of tyre wall that got him slightly airborne and made the main impact so spectacular. If that wall had been even and didn't have that bit pushed forward, the car wouldn't have rolled. You can see it on the far right at 1:30.

  • and btw what is her accent -australian, english or american.. confusing ?

    but good on her..

  • whats up with the blasphemy.. I mean i might be as religious as a tube of lube but i can appreciate a complete lack of professionalism in a token female commentator.

  • @pvtdangles Shes not a 'token' female commentator, shes a professional racecar driver who knows the driver of the car, she just saw smashed to bits, very well!!! A fairly normal reaction, shes not a professional commentator, shes there for her....wait for it.......racing knowledge!

  • @pvtdangles did you really need to comment on that I thought it was a pretty normal reaction to a horrific crash that thankfully nobody got hurt in. You must be the token dickhead in the comments section!!

  • @edd55r how'd you guess

  • @aydx0001 Dale Earnhardt died because he didn't have all the safety features that are in the cars now

  • @soccer12811 Don't you mean that Dale Earnhardt died because he forgot his safety when going 200mph. But even without a HANS really that was a minor shunt.

  • @Racecarwrecks there is a big diffrence in this accident and ands dales accident. alan hit rear on and dale head on, rear on your head would hit the the seat, head on, you could break you neck (without hans that is)

  • @heinedenstore I never said it was similar, I just said that NASCAR officials wait for someone to die and then improve their safety, unlike Britain, France, Belgium (even though it usually is a death) and Germany. There are at least 3 accidents which should've made the HANS device mandatory and if you want I'll make a video and post it up to prove this. It is stupid to not make HANS mandatory and add SAFER barriers when Ernie Irvan crashes in '94 but do when Earnhardt dies in '01.

  • Wow. Did Audi crash both their R18s?

  • @bandman232 2 of their 3 R18s, the 3rd won the race.

  • @BODKillinator Ah Thanks

  • haha isnt the sand trap supposed to stop cars? McNish just slid across it

  • People need to quit bitching about Liz Halliday commenting on the race, shes afar better racecar driver than most of us could wish to be and a 100x more qualified to commentate than the keyboard jockeys mocking her

  • @BODKillinator Well said

  • @BODKillinator to be honest i found it refreshing that someone had a more human view of such a gigantic accident. i applaud her for showing her emotion. i was doing the same fucking thing and i have no issue with it whatsoever.

  • camera man running away from tire

    "ahhhh its after me!!!"

  • Nearly pooped myself when me and my mate saw the impact and debris flying into the air. Thought we may end up getting hit by a wheel - Phew!

  • Stupid female commentator. Politically correct appointment no doubt. Hope we never have to suffer her again.

  • @NOSRAB66 Bollocks. Is it "politically correct" to try to attract female viewers or should motorsport be an exclusively male domain? How can you grow a sport and an audience if you don't make entreaties to new markets?

That's the trouble with reductivist thinking; you end up throwing the baby out with the bath water.

  • That woman is the worst commentator I have ever heard.

    What a massive crash.

There are half a dozen people over the wall there that are lucky to be alive!

  • Seeing crashes like this and notably Zanardi's and the drivers surviving makes me wonder why on Earth, such a mundane crash kills Dale Earnhardt.

  • He was very, very , very lucky!!! Thanks God the new racing car technology saved his life and everyone around!

  • it was the wheel folding under the car that stopped it going any further over the wall, quite haunting hearing the horror in the commentators voices when they see this happen

  • One of the bottom lines here is that Allan McNish survived this and will continue to be with us for some time. Let's not lose sight of that. He has become a real staple in road racing. I have my own view on this accident, but I'm grateful we haven't lost another (champion)...

  • @rmartin930 He probably had the best chance of anyone there, strapped into a heavily reinforced cockpit with all sorts of safety devices for just such an occasion. That crash could quite easily have killed several photographers who were just doing their jobs...

  • Nobody seems to be commenting on the new rear fin, which I think may have saved a few lives here. Like Bouchut at Eau Rouge in the 1000km this year in his Lola, I mean the car starts lifting as he's spewing sideways across the gravel. Without that fin it would likely have got air and started rolling before it reached the barrier and gone over it....THAT would have been terrible.

Also, that woman commentator almost ruined Le Mans for me this year. Everything with her sounded like soap opera.

  • To all those, who continue to harp on who was "at fault" and how McNish "probably didn't see the Ferrari..." Be assured...as the driver of a prototype car, behind another prototype, you CAN see a GT car over the top of that car in front of you; and, in this case, there was the advantage of having just come over the rise, which allowed a gaining advantage in this regard. McNish simply got a little carried away here.

  • Anthony Beltoise doubt that he even saw the blue flag, and saw the Audi's in front of him. but what ever Allen McNish was thinking from his mind, that was suposed to be his main key role of the game.

Which the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) should of took place investigating from the horrifiing crash which the Ferrari #58 again took out #1 audi R18 Mike Rockenfeller onboard that night, was even more severe and fright tragicing. moments as Mike Rockenfeller survives walking.
