  • gow do they wear down better or faster than stock tsl

  • nicee use the tho torch in a closed building... real smart

  • im learning about cars can sum 1 tell me wat there doin?and for wat reason

  • @LedZeppelinZR1 groveing the tire gives u more biteing edges & lets the tire flex better wich also improves grip

  • @drunk4x4guy thx man

  • those look realy good...but you shouldnt have to take the torch to the tire..iv grooved hundreds of swampers and a good gun will cut the rubber like butter

  • You missed one at 3.28 ..lol

  • ur fuckin stupid

  • WHERE CAN I BUY THE TOOL?

  • wow those look good

  • super swampers are good but dont buy the thornturds.

  • you tested it?

  • j'ai fait mes 33/12,5/15 pareils!!!

  • they are tsls because no one is going to run and cut 42 ssr radials on road

  • @punk531 you cant get a 42 ssr biggest they have is 38

  • 3:28 missed a spot lol looks good man!!

  • which super swampers are those? they look bad ass!

  • @12josejalapeno lol......Super swampers, duh.

  • @sexibassplaya123456 dude, you didnt help at all, there are tsl's, ltbs, and radial tsls, and then ssrs, but im pretty sure they are just tsl's. thanks for the retarded reply though.

  • @12josejalapeno haha I'm just givin ya shit, I really don't know either, maybe TLS Bias.

  • feel free to grove my 42" tsl's anytime. great job guys. minus the humping of the tire. dont get me wrong, i wanted to as well when i got mine.... but didnt

  • can we see them on what ever you put them on?

  • Awesome work, they look very good!

  • I dont know where yall are at, but you get all the boys in one big ass garage, make you some good ol money.

  • For what this?

  • they look like they would do alot better with the grooves in them

  • Wow that is soo dangerous that torch is like 1000-2000 Degrees fehrenheit

  • @ctb787 there not to bad, i use them at work all the time stripping worn rubber off of steel wear plates and other crap. heat of the metal with the torch and another guy peels the rubber off the other side with a pry bar.

  • @ctb787 its not dangerous, its not like they were holding it there. its like passing your hand over a candle quickly. no harm, no foul. hold it there and your in for a skin blistering treat!

  • Q? If thats such a good idea, Why dont the tires come that way from the factory?

  • @rudedogii better for offroad, not so good on road. makes them noisier. they are ment for on road, off road. tires like iroks are off road only suggested.

  • So fucking sick! I wanna work with you guys! Looks hella fun!

  • no, its adding more traction points and more channels for self cleaning ( mud to run out) and a smoother ride on the road

  • Wait so that's not like ruining the tread or anything.

  • How many blades did you go through doing all 4??

  • i sit mine by the fire place

  • so what's the point of heating it up with the tortch at first?

  • @bigtrucks44 so it cuts smoother and a little faster, and so u dont have to pick out the rubber pieces u just cut

  • get the rubber soft

  • good job !

  • wouldnt that take ages, and do you no if you can do that to simex extreme treckers?

  • does it make youer tred gro or wat

  • damn looks fucking sick! always woundered how wheelers did that. good job

  • wow alot of work butt bet them swampers work great now

  • wish they would do this from the factory. LOL

  • why the pre heat?

  • soften it up, makes it easier

  • I'm the maker of this video...waaay back in the day. I was the one humping the tire. :D The reason for the pre-heat- It was sooo cold that night. Like barnes said it was to soften it up. The groover we used is pretty much the cheapest one you can get. It needed a little help with the cold/hard rubber. The last tire we did had set out in the sun in 90* heat. Was much softer and easier to groove.

  • hows that give better traction??

  • Allows the tires Tread to flex and grab rocks better. Everyone has there unig style of tire grooving. check out my tires.

  • i heard there is a strange place like in liousiana or arkansaw that is hillbilly but speaks french dating back to the napoleonic conquest of the american mainland, that must be why they speak french

  • the acadians, were expelled from acadia, and sent to Louisiana, in the 1760s

  • sweet job, but why the torch?

  • damn dude, you made a new tire basically. Great Job man!! 5/5 stars on that one

  • great job!

  • what is the tool that they're using?

  • why he doing that ?

  • for better traction

  • how are these guys french?

  • Quebec FTW!

  • i love those tires LTB All the Way

  • pure art!

  • where do u buy those tools !!!!

  • No way do it !

  • that tire looks soooo much better ahaha..

what tool were you using never seen that before ??

  • que le hacen a la llanta????

  • they should start selling those tires like you've created them just with a different name!

    great work man

  • Jperemich.

Thinking about T.S.L Interco Thornbirds huh?

I've had my set of 35-12.50-15 Thornbirds for 3 years now and half of the tread in still there. I'm on asphalt most the time too, thou I don't commute. My GMC is an everyday driver. Anyways I didn't know what tire I wanted next back when I was looking to buy. In magazine's thornbirds look a bit tame, but in real life they are more aggressive than most. your truck will look like a tractor. remember T.S.L means Three Stage Lug.

  • It makes a huge difference but for off road use only. Don't do this if your big rubber will be on the pavement between wheeling trips. The grooves cut into the tread allow for more traction, especially on rocks. Now these tires can do it all. Mud, snow, and rocks. UN-cut T.S.L Swampers were never that good on rocks, now people are cutting grooves like this and creating an all-purpose off road tire. Plus T.S.L's are a bit cheaper than the other rock-crawl type tire.

  • ok when i saw him with the blow torch i was like.. WHOA...

  • @xmodrock not really a blow torch, its a weed burner.

  • is it really that easy?

or do you have lots of experience?

  • does it make that big of a difference to groove them

  • i have a 96 full size bronco 5.0 L, 6 inch rough county lift & 35 12.5 r15 pro comp x terrains. X terrains run well on the steet (atleast on my truck). I want thornbirds bc they look cool but everyone i talk to say they suck offroad and in snow and they burn up quick on the street. my xterrains see a lot of pennsylvania snow, a little bit of mud and a lot of trails. would anyone recommend thornbirds for a bronco? i need new tires and im undecided between trxus STS, tsl radials and thornbirds.

  • i ran 31 x 11 r15 Thornbirds on my '01 Jeep TJ. I live in Missouri & also wheeled Utah, Illinois, & Indiana. I can tell u they suck in the snow, but they're awesome on Moab slickrock and decent in the mud if u air them WAY down. Mine lasted about 25,000 miles on the highway & the rear locker really chewed them up on city streets. u would probably be happier with TSLs if u play in the dirt much IMO.

  • wot a mean video nw i can do it my self u guys rock

  • very cool, did the performance change in the mud and rock gardens? hows the cut mickey thomsons in ttc 07'.aloha.

  • Been alooong time since I made this video, so I don't really remember were to purchase the groover. I borrowed it from a fellow club member. It's made by a company called Ideal. I'm sure it could be found with some Google searching. "Ideal tire groover". There pretty cheap...$60 or so if I remember correctly. Different sized blades are also available. Thanks for the good words. It's not as easy as it looks. I was pushing hard enough on the thing to bend it.

  • where did you guys get that gun?

  • would't the grooves just make them be more like ats them mts?

  • That looks scary.

  • cool my new tires are grooved like that

well pretty close to it =0)

  • is that just 4 luks or does that really help in the mud or on rocks

  • where do you but that hot knife gun at

  • they look like they came from the tire store like that really good job

  • This video is well made, well edited and informative.

Well done ! Good work !

I keep watching this video... It's great ;o)

  • awsome job I just bought a set of those.

  • You guys make that look easy..It's not. Good job.

  • those ride to rough lol.I have them on my 1993 chevy shortbed.

  • were can i get one of these grooving tools???

  • yeah they need to come out like that it makes a great tyre out of them

  • I was also wondering where you bought the hot-knife??

  • if the rubber of the tire is warm and soft it is much easier to cut.

  • i mean the part wer he takes the big blow touch lookin thing to them?? y

  • so the rubber doesnt chunk when he grooves it

  • wtf y is he doin that??

  • Wow! I made this video years ago..lol! Weird to see it on you tube. I was the big guy humping the tire. haha! Didn't think I'd ever see that video again....

  • Pretty good grooving. If it were a mud bogger, it would be cut and grooved.

  • were did you get that tool to groove them?

  • It does not make the tire harder or stiffer. It simply makes more "biting" edges on the tire, for better traction.

  • grooving means yes making more grip and makes the tires a bit harder and stif i think right?

  • what did he use to groove them with

  • Nice Job! Always wanted to see someone groove a swamper. Thanks for posting!

  • much better look haha dude come do mine ?

  • Nice groove job..I assume your going crawling

  • both...de sst-tabarnak de torch! haha groovin' is good

  • wow thats cool. kinda a stupid question but whats the point? does it make it grip better in the mud or is it for rocks?

  • Yes, it will grip better on rocks.
