  • It's an expensive piece of crap. Don't waste your money. Customer service is rude too.

  • GET SMART PEOPLE...

I would rather flush the stuff down the toilet than breathe it when I empty the box! .... With some of the logic here I would guess the people that have parasites or C-diff in their stool should use a litter box too? As for dumping waste in the ocean... what happened to treatment plants... where I come from we don't dump wastes in the ocean or any water supply.. it is such a shame that such an eco minded state would do it.

  • HAHA You guys are LAZY!!!

  • I have own my CatGenie for a little bit more than a year. Even though it appears to be so easy and convenience my is 70% of the time not working properly. Most of the time it going into error mode and it is driving me crazy, to the point that I would never purchase another CatGinie or recommended to any of my cat owner friends and is a shame because this machine is very expensive $500.00. I am so disappointed.

  • munequitodeebano,

Did you contact the manufacturer about the problems you were having? If so, what was their response? If not, then you should do so. Maybe you got a lemon.

  • @munequitodeebano

Read the directions and the trouble shooting. You have set it up incorrectly. I was having trouble as well, the first week. I went thorugh the troubleshooting pages, and found I had not followed the directions properly, when setting it up. It works fantastic, now. Where in the world did you buy yours? No way should you have paid that much. I got mine on line at PETCO, and it was a LOT less than that!

  • thats preety coo

    i neeed one of thoughs

  • I'd suggest disposing of cat feces in ANY other manner than down the drain. The garbage can works perfectly....

  • garbage can = landfill = parasite gets into ecosystem anyway.

I wonder if Cat Genie can use the hot water faucet instead. Parasites don't do very well in boiling water.

Sanitizers are out as well and it cleans better, since 1/3 of feces is grease.

  • Agreed on all fronts. But if you live in a coastal area where your treated waste water ends up in the ocean, the only option other than landfill is to compost it (heating t.gondii to 60 degrees C kills it).

  • @Crittersmama so I guess you prefer taking a poop in the garbage can?

  • This is a TERRIBLE product! It's common knowledge that cat feces should never, ever be flushed down a toilet or waterway. It contains the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, which is now known to be responsible for decimating sea otter numbers (as well as affecting human fetal development!). Modern sewage treatment plants don't get rid of this parasite and dumping cat litter down the toilet in CA is now illegal. A good example of extreme gross negligence on the part of the Cat Genie company.

  • Then what do you suggest?

  • a forest

  • It's illegal to dump any form of waste in a forest.

  • @Crittersmama it technically isn't cat litter... and lol the idea of cats causing environment issues, is pure absurdity. If cats have it I wonder if a bear, raccoon, or even a deer can get it... hold on to your personal filters because our bottled water is contaminated... silly people believing everything they hear and on top of that passing laws based on BS information. XD

  • I bought a litterhouse instead and love it

  • aww a kitty potty
