LOVE the "afterschool special" reference, but not surprised to hear it from Ringwald, who probably either watched or acted in several of those. I watched those, too, but not the right way. I knew they were crap and enjoyed making fun of them. They were like early cult movies for kids in those days. I still remember one, "Marv Hammernan's After Me", about bullying, of course. Stupid but fun to watch.
