I have this camera for two month now. Using the AV cable to plug in the into the LCD. The image is not so good. Use the same cable i hooked up my old digital camera Canon Power shot A5, with only 5 megapixels, the image from canon look sharper. At first i try to convice my wife is the TV and the cable that the image from fuji is not very sharp. But after comparing with the old canon. I am lost. Same thing with the video. I've tested it with my cheap camcoder. ( cheap less 100,made in china).

Thanks so much for the response to my question. I do have lights so I'll try your ideas & see how they work. I do have a tripod but rarely use it. It seems like such a hassle to put the camera on and take it back off again all the time & now I've misplaced the little gadget that attaches to the camera that then fits into the notched piece on top of the tripod. I'm sure it's around here somewhere though so next time I find it I'll give that a go, too. For now I steady the camera on a chair back.
My camera came with a cable that you plug in the TV to watch and see pictures on it but it was not the HDMI cable, if I had a HDMI cable would it be better quality on the TV?
@RandomPlanetEarth Included cable is composite cable and does not provide Full HD quality. If you purchase a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, the quality will be much better.
@aj2719 S2950: 18x zoom 28mm wide, S3300: 26x zoom, 24mm wide. S3300 is physically larger in size than the S2950 but image quality/features are similar.
@Alessa754 Please go to the SETUP menu. Press Menu/ok, press left to go to the tab selection, press down to go to SEtup tab, press right to go to setup menu, press down until you see AF Illuminator, set it ON from there.
i have a question about my Fujifilm s2950 i'v bought several different attachments for it and they all work great. but shooting in the aperture mode or any mode how do i get the focal point short to where the subject im shooting is sharp and the background is blurred.? i enjoy your vids they r most helpful with questions i have, but i cant find any info on certain settings for shutter and aperture modes. any help?
@FBS2950Films Its much more difficult with this camera due to the size of the sensor, since small sensor, it's hard to isolate a subject and cause blurred background like DSLR with large sensor. One trick that will help is to stand further back from the subject and zoom in, this will help isolate the subject but you need to be outside and good lighting. You can also use Macro mode to help create this when close to your subject.
@meowselina It would perform similar to cameras in its category. In good lighting, the camrea can take some great images. Lowlight, most cameras do a bad job. If you plan to take photos, set the mode to P mode and set ISO to Auto (400) or Auto (800) to minimize noise in the image. Alway, use the flash when shooting in lowlight.
I have the S2850 which is very similar. I make beaded jewelry but I'm never able to take good pictures of it. Can you suggest what mode/settings would be best for closeups of jewelry? I'd like to list some on eBay but without great photos they'll never sell. Mine are always out of focus and too dark tho I have a light box. Thank you. Your videos are great! I've learned so much just from the few I've watched so far. Looking forward to learning even more to make best use of this awesome camera.
@zenapal Use the Macro (up to 10cm) or Super Macro mode (up to 2cm). If you have lighting to brighten the object, this will help. Don't use Flash. You can shoot in the "P" mode and set to ISO to Auto (400) to minimize noise in the image). Even a mini tripod will help. Press half way down to pre-focus to ensure you got proper focus. Hope these tips help. Also, you may want to use the 2sec self timer if using a tripod to prevent shake to the camera.
@AudaciousZombieSwine There is no Manual Focus with this model. If you would like to use Manual Focus, please consider the HS30/HS25 or even the X-S1 models from Fujifilm.

hey fuji guys, can you people please tell me if i should go for this camera or not...i am not a professional photographer, but i like to take photos ...so i thought that a semi slr will be a better choice for an amateur photographer like me...i just want a camera which can take pics like the one which are taken by dslr cams, pics taken with a manually adjusted focus...so will this camera be a suitable choice for me?
Hi, I have just ordered this camera, its on its way. I found your video really useful and cant wait for it to arrive! So now I have watched your video I wont feel daunted and will be more confident to start using it as soon as it arrives. Thank you. I have subscribed too :-)
hey fuji guys, i bought this camera recently but it keeps displaying a small yellow icon in the bottom right of a small image of a camera with a '!' next to it with small lines around it what is this? thanks
@1995lumby The yellow icon indicates the lighting in the room is not sufficient and so the camera will use a slower shutterspeed. This might cause your images to be blurred due to camera shake. Try turning the flash on or increasing the ISO setting on your camera if you don't want to use the flash. Also, if you don't use flash, try to hold the camera steady or use a tripod.
I have this camera and one of the reasons why I wanted an SLR camera i because of the difference between the color of the pictures, one thing I have notice comapring this camera with some Nikon and Canon cameras is that colors are not as vivid and as intense is there anything I can do in order to enhance those colors? and does this camera has color effects like some point and shoot camera ex: sepia and vintage color effects?
@yirasoriano1 Colour has to do with lighting. You get more colours when shooting in good lighting situations. Under overcast days, the colours will be less dramatic. You can change the colour setttings to "Chrome" via the "F button". This will punch up the colour and contrast. Also, when comparing images, please look at them on the computer and not the back of the screen. Also, to increase colour, try using the flash even in outdoor situations.
I would've paid a bit more for a 921K or 460K pixel LCD. Now I'm leaning towards the Nikon L120 because of its 921K screen. But the viewfinder on the Coolpix is tempting... But 230K?! OMG.
I'm looking for an ultra-zoom with good image stabilization, especially during video recording mode.
P.S. It's funny how ePhotoZine rates the S2950 higher than the S3200.
@fire1202 L120 have sensor and lens stabilization but it don't have EVF and well disappointing is that l120 have no manual controls ! However L120 have one of best macro / super macro on point and shot - bridge camera. Both are good cameras with + and minuses .
@brunomalakias1 Both are very good but the S2950 offers an Electronic Viewfinder which is useful for bright sunny days where it is tough to see the LCD.
@Ikillmarshmellows For this video, we use a digital SLR as we need the ability to add an external mic. For personal use, i currently use a S5pro (Fuji DSLR, very old but i find the best of colour and whitebalance) and a Fuji X10 for compact use. Of course, the best camera is the one you have with you so sometimes, i am force to use a camera phone.
very nice camera, i just bought one, however was slightly disappointed how the video goes out of focus so hard as soon as a pull back is performed, can the focus not be locked before shooting video to avoid this? thanks
@dvcrewteam You can change the Movie AF to Centre vs continuous. THe camera will set focus when you press the shutter button to start recording. The focus should not adjust afterwards.
@fujiguys hi guys thanks for the videos i tend to have the same problem when doing videos it just goes out of focus all on its own. it doesnt matter if the subject is still or moving. could you please be more specific with step by step instructions on changing movie af to center vs continuous if you dont mind. i would appreciate it. still learning my way around the menu and the different modes. thanks.
@MIZZNIGHTINGALE If recording a video clip of a moving subject, set the camera to Continuous AF. The camera will continually focus on the subject as it moves within the focus frame. If the subject is not moving and the camera is not going to be moving, set the camera to Centre AF. When the dial is in the Movie mode, press menu/ok, you will have the option to change the "AF Mode", Change it to either Centre AF or Continuous AF.
@KOJOMOSES aww man. Thanks, it's still a decent camera. I just don't know if it's worth it. I feel like there are good point and shoots with 14megapixels and decent settings, do you have/have you had this camera? If so how has it worked out so far?
@Brandonality I have the fujifilm finepix s4000. It's pretty much the same just better zoom (30x whereas the s2950 has 18x) and it is a great camera for various different aspects in amateur photography which is what dslr style cameras like this are for. If you want a good camera for vlogging I suggest you get a canon compact point and shoot camera with full HD like the canon powershot A3300 IS.
I have this camera and for the price it's really great! But is there a mic that I could buy for this camera? Because the videos are great, but I can't hear anything really.
i just got this camera and when i replay the video there is a ticking noise and obnoxious noises coming from it, i dont see why, what can i do for the noise to go away, if there IS anything i can do
@alandratube12 The camera is picking up noise from the focus motor and also if you zoom, it is picking that up too. Best to reduce noise is not to zoom during recording and change the focus option to "centre" so the camera doesn't constantly adjust focus during video recording.
Got this camera for christmas and it's actually pretty awesome. I am a DSLR user and have a habit of losing point and shoot camera's. This is great simple video's and great shots of the kids. and the video manuals super helpful.
Just bought this camera and am massively disappointed with the video. The amount of noise in the audio is incredible, as well as the noise of the camera being operated the background hiss makes it pretty much unusable as a video device. Is there anything that can be done about it?
@banjoquint It is picking up noise from the focus motor as well as the zoom motor. Try to avoid zooming and change the focus mode to "centre" so it doesn't auto focus during video.
@96xNatasha Keep the camera steady. Avoid zooming during video recording. Change the AF for mode to "centre", this will help to reduce noise from the Auto focus motor.
I bought this camera, I think it's very good for its price, it has satisfactory manual controls except the aperture that can be set only at wide open or very closed. You can take beatiful photos outdoors and you can play a little with DOF, too. Of course it's not wonderful indoor or in low light situations, because by 200 iso you can see a little noise, but if you use a wide aperture and a slow shutter speed photos will be light and steady, provided you don't zoom much. Con: LCD isn't very good
I have this camera, I got it today.. And thanks to fuji guys I took great pictures with this camera, it's amazingly easy to operate. I recommended it, and also record video in 720p ZOMG... And the pictures I took have a greatly quality. It's full HD Image...
I'm considering getting this camera. Who would you recommend this camera too? I personally have a budget but I don't want a camera that's not going to take very good pictures.
@ChibiMikuHatsune I recommend this camera to someone interested in photography but want something expensive to play around with. It does give you some controls over shutterspeed and aperture and helps you to learn a little about photography. With good lighting, this camera can take great photo's. It is a great value for your money. I would look at flickr and search for images taken with this camera.
I've been using canon point and shoot cameras for a while... and when using the manual (M) option and focusing, you can see on the LCD what the picture will look like, I mean too dark or too bright... this camera has this feature?? like a live preview??
@quutamo87 With this camera, when you shoot manually but adjusting shutterspeed and aperture, half-pressing to lock focus and exposure, it won't give you how the picture will turn out like. You have to fully take the picture. There is a guide however that indicates if your image will be over and under exposure. "A little tab that slides back and forth between + and - on a line. To much to the negative side and the image will be dark or vice versa"
@200415670 Using NiMH Low Discharged batteries, you can get over 400+ shots per charge. Regular alkaline: 200-300 shots. Recommend Low Discharged rechargeable NiMH type batteries like ones made by Sanyo "Eneloop"
Having an issue with mine i feel like it something i've done..... all the lcd contents work... but it only shows back and will only take black photos and NO the lens cap is not on!!! Please help!!!
@Poed912 Even if the camera is set to the SR Auto mode or P mode?. Do the images look black when you download the images from the memory card? You might want to contact Fujfilm technical support for additional support if the problem is not resolved. USA: 1-800-800-FUJI, CAN: 1-800-461-0416
@chinnochopped Rechargeable AA NiMH batteries and a memory card is first on the list. You can google Adapter Ring for S2950, there are 3rd party accessories that can allow you to attach filters and add-on conversion lens to this camera.
@Nkayraie Exclusive product, i.e. only 1 retailer is selling that particular model. Sometimes, the different names is to identify the region where the product is selling. i.e. S2960 sold in the UK, S2950 in North America. There are different reasons to have different names on the same product.
i mean if i am shooting video on 6x zoom and i want to go to 12x zoom ..is it possible ?.........or it will be digitally zoomed?...thannx for your reply
@canyoustealmyheart Both. Memory Card determines how many photo's/video clips can be stored. Most likely, you will run out of battery before you can fill a 16GB card (for example). On Alkaline, you can get approx 300 shots, NiMH rechargeable, 400-500shots, 1 Time use Lithium AA, 700 shots. On a 16GB card, you can store over 4000+ images at highest resolution (normal setting). So looking at that number, batteries will die before memory card is full.
If you are having problems with the internal mic capturing the mechanical sounds of the camera, a way to avoid capturing these sounds and improve the sound quality in general, is to use an external audio recorder and sync the audio to the video. Readily available digital voice recorders will do the job. Better quality recorders will give better results. I commonly use either an Olympus DS-30 or Zoom H2. Both give excellent quality audio. I also use them with lapel mics for narration videos.
@Drezkie You can use an external mic, caputure the audio and sync the audio with the video. Just load your video into a video software program. Movie Maker does a good job with replacing the internal audio with your external audio capture. Hope this helps.
Would this camera be good for taking vids for YouTube such as iPad reviews or generally screen captures (ie close up and still sharp video). Sort of what soldierknowsbest or tysiphonehelp does... Thanks!
@Truckfan1976 Depends on how fast the moving truck is and how far it is away from you. Typically, for action shoots, you can set the camera to the continuous shooting mode. Then prefocus on the truck or the area where the truck when end up, then press fully on the shutter to start capturing the action. If normal photo's, i set the camera to the "p" mode and set ISO to Auto (800) and then let the camera do the rest of the work. If it is dark, i use the flash when needed.
whats the best way to use this camera on a dull day? I bought this beauty today and I was so eager to use it but unfortunately it was, a horrible day here in Sweden. I got some shots but there is definitely something wrong with the camera settings.
@altafhussaine If you are taking a picture of a subject, use the Flash to add colour to the image. You could also change the whitebalance on the camera from "Auto" to "Shade" instead. This will make the image more lively. Lighting is important however when trying to obtain more colour in the photo.
@blush2pink part point? Do you mean more videos? No. sorry. Best thing is to check out the camera in store if possible in your area. Camera usually goes on sale so you can find it pretty cheap sometimes
OK, I bought this camera on Monday Nov.21st and I have 2 weeks to decide if I want to keep it.. a big concerns is how fast it gobbles up regular batteries. Do rechargeable batteries last any longer?? Today alone while playing with the camera, I went through 3 sets of 4 batteries!!
Also, I love the 18X zoom in my videos but the sound of the zooming in and out in the playback is bad and may be a reason to look for a different camera. What setting can eliminate the zooming noise??? RSVP ASAP THX!
@pixiebobo Use Low Discharged NiMH batteries like the ones Sanyo produces (Eneloop). They will last approx 500 shots per charge (or more). Using 1 time use Lithium AA, it last 700 shots per charge. As for the zooming noise, unfortuntealy, that can be solved uselss of course, you don't zoom. Most if not all cameras that offer zooming with video will have noise pickup by the internal mic. Even DSLR have that issue.
Sorry, I already returned the camera 2 days after I bought it because of these issues.. "Zooming noise can't be solved unless of course, I don't zoom"?? What kind of an answer is that?? Why would I not want to zoom with a 18X optical zoom?? That is one if not the whole purpose of this camera...Not acceptable and the zoom noise was very loud and grinding!!
Anyway to get a discount on this camera? I just watched all the overviews and it looks great with tons of features. I need something for my Digital Photography class.
@MadLittleMods This model is very popular and occasionaly gets put on sale at retailers. SRP is $229 but i have seen it sell for much less when on sale.
@MadLittleMods Idk if you've already been answered or already bought it but everywhere else from amazon to buy.com sells this for around 160$ which is REALLY good for this
@MrOhMyUsername I have seen other places like that as well but I just do not want to spend that much. I just need a good camera for this class and I am not sure if I will use it after it ends.
when i go to some concert venues there is always fog that gets used at venues. i want perfect photos so that you can't pretty much see the fog too much. what setting do i set it on?
@kbf90 1. Don't use the flash as the flash will reflect off the fog and be capture back into the camera. 2. Wait till most of the fog has cleared. 3. Fog looks good and gives it some dramatic effect, continue to shoot with the fog in the photo. Hope this helps.
When you do video recording does the audio distort when recording loud sound or music? No reviewers ever check that on digital cameras. I know it's not supposed to be a high quality video recorder but if no good Automatic Level Control is used recording video is almost useless. Put the camera in video mode, point it at your face and record and then make a sudden scream or shout at it. When you listen back see if the sound ever is ugly and distorted, even in the beginning. Thanks.
@DudeinCA52 There is not auto level controls on the camera for video recording. In a concert, if sound is very loud, there may be distortions. Average video recording, no issues with audio (picks up sound pretty good).
@DudeinCA52 If you are recording a concert or other loud venue, regardless of the video source you are using, it is best to capture the audio with a quality audio recorder. I would also use a mixer if possible and more than one microphone. Check out field recorders on a google search for some excellent choices or drop by your local music store. All of the major audio home recording equipment companies such as Sony, Yamaha, Tascam and Zoom offer models. I personally use a Zoom H2.
Hi. My camera will only record a 32sec clip in HD before stopping itself? It says I have 9min something remaining in the corner but it still stops at 32secs. I have a big memory card so its not that. Whats worng?
@Whitsnag88 Check the SD card to see if it is at least a Class 4 rated card. Slower cards will cause video recording to stop. Also, try formating the card using the camera as well.
@TheCpcheatshome I think if your take 20 shots continously vs 20 shots individually, the individual shooting will eat up more batteries in my opinion. I recommend Low Discharged NiMH batteries for any camera using AA batteries.
@TheCpcheatshome Pretty much the same. Differences are zoom. S2950 18x, S3300 26x, S3400 28x, S4000 30x. Size of 2950 is smallest however, the rest are the same size.
@MrAkshaydaniel Yes, Fujifilm service centre around the world can help with warranty. Please ensure you purchase from authorized Fujifilm retailer however and retain the receipt.
Hi, I recently got this camera yesterday. I would like to know what is the best setting to optimize the full capabilities of this camera? Also to get high quality pics for sports games? Thank you
@valchris89 Picture quality is best with good lighting. Saying that, keeping your ISO settings low helps to reduce noise in the image. I typically would shoot in "P" mode, with ISO set to AUTO (800). For sports game, try obtain fast shutterspeeds possible (by shooting in good lighting) or increase ISO as necessary. Don't use the flash as it won't be effective for long distance shots.
will this camera support a different lens or is there an adapter to attach to the camera :) also does it have a screw slot for a tripod to be attache :)
will this camera support a different lens or is there an adapter to attach to the camera :) also does it have a screw slot for a tripod to be attache :)
@skatechums This camera has no threads to attach add on lens or filter. I have seen 3rd party adapters that is pressured connected to lens and adds a thread. Tripod mount, Yes this camera does.

hey fuji guys, i bought this camera recently but it keeps displaying a small yellow icon in the bottom right of a small image of a camera with a '!' next to it with small lines around it what is this? thanks
1995lumby 1 month ago
@1995lumby The yellow icon indicates the lighting in the room is not sufficient and so the camera will use a slower shutterspeed. This might cause your images to be blurred due to camera shake. Try turning the flash on or increasing the ISO setting on your camera if you don't want to use the flash. Also, if you don't use flash, try to hold the camera steady or use a tripod.
fujiguys 1 month ago
@1995lumby Yellow Icon indicates "Possible Camera Shake" due to slow shutterspeeds.

I have this camera and one of the reasons why I wanted an SLR camera i because of the difference between the color of the pictures, one thing I have notice comapring this camera with some Nikon and Canon cameras is that colors are not as vivid and as intense is there anything I can do in order to enhance those colors? and does this camera has color effects like some point and shoot camera ex: sepia and vintage color effects?
yirasoriano1 1 month ago
@yirasoriano1 Colour has to do with lighting. You get more colours when shooting in good lighting situations. Under overcast days, the colours will be less dramatic. You can change the colour setttings to "Chrome" via the "F button". This will punch up the colour and contrast. Also, when comparing images, please look at them on the computer and not the back of the screen. Also, to increase colour, try using the flash even in outdoor situations.
fujiguys 1 month ago
I would've paid a bit more for a 921K or 460K pixel LCD. Now I'm leaning towards the Nikon L120 because of its 921K screen. But the viewfinder on the Coolpix is tempting... But 230K?! OMG.
I'm looking for an ultra-zoom with good image stabilization, especially during video recording mode.
P.S. It's funny how ePhotoZine rates the S2950 higher than the S3200.
fire1202 1 month ago
@fire1202 For better EVF, check out the HS30EXR or the X-S1 cameras from Fujifilm.
fujiguys 1 month ago
@fire1202 L120 have sensor and lens stabilization but it don't have EVF and well disappointing is that l120 have no manual controls ! However L120 have one of best macro / super macro on point and shot - bridge camera. Both are good cameras with + and minuses .

What camera do you guys use?
Ikillmarshmellows 1 month ago
@Ikillmarshmellows For this video, we use a digital SLR as we need the ability to add an external mic. For personal use, i currently use a S5pro (Fuji DSLR, very old but i find the best of colour and whitebalance) and a Fuji X10 for compact use. Of course, the best camera is the one you have with you so sometimes, i am force to use a camera phone.
fujiguys 1 month ago
very nice camera, i just bought one, however was slightly disappointed how the video goes out of focus so hard as soon as a pull back is performed, can the focus not be locked before shooting video to avoid this? thanks
dvcrewteam 2 months ago
@dvcrewteam You can change the Movie AF to Centre vs continuous. THe camera will set focus when you press the shutter button to start recording. The focus should not adjust afterwards.
fujiguys 1 month ago
@fujiguys hi guys thanks for the videos i tend to have the same problem when doing videos it just goes out of focus all on its own. it doesnt matter if the subject is still or moving. could you please be more specific with step by step instructions on changing movie af to center vs continuous if you dont mind. i would appreciate it. still learning my way around the menu and the different modes. thanks.
MIZZNIGHTINGALE 1 month ago
@MIZZNIGHTINGALE If recording a video clip of a moving subject, set the camera to Continuous AF. The camera will continually focus on the subject as it moves within the focus frame. If the subject is not moving and the camera is not going to be moving, set the camera to Centre AF. When the dial is in the Movie mode, press menu/ok, you will have the option to change the "AF Mode", Change it to either Centre AF or Continuous AF.

KOJOMOSES 2 months ago
@KOJOMOSES aww man. Thanks, it's still a decent camera. I just don't know if it's worth it. I feel like there are good point and shoots with 14megapixels and decent settings, do you have/have you had this camera? If so how has it worked out so far?
Brandonality 2 months ago
@Brandonality I have the fujifilm finepix s4000. It's pretty much the same just better zoom (30x whereas the s2950 has 18x) and it is a great camera for various different aspects in amateur photography which is what dslr style cameras like this are for. If you want a good camera for vlogging I suggest you get a canon compact point and shoot camera with full HD like the canon powershot A3300 IS.
KOJOMOSES 2 months ago
I have this camera and for the price it's really great! But is there a mic that I could buy for this camera? Because the videos are great, but I can't hear anything really.

i just got this camera and when i replay the video there is a ticking noise and obnoxious noises coming from it, i dont see why, what can i do for the noise to go away, if there IS anything i can do
alandratube12 2 months ago
@alandratube12 The camera is picking up noise from the focus motor and also if you zoom, it is picking that up too. Best to reduce noise is not to zoom during recording and change the focus option to "centre" so the camera doesn't constantly adjust focus during video recording.

Just bought this camera and am massively disappointed with the video. The amount of noise in the audio is incredible, as well as the noise of the camera being operated the background hiss makes it pretty much unusable as a video device. Is there anything that can be done about it?
banjoquint 2 months ago
@banjoquint It is picking up noise from the focus motor as well as the zoom motor. Try to avoid zooming and change the focus mode to "centre" so it doesn't auto focus during video.
fujiguys 1 month ago
This camera is awesome but a bit disappointing in the sound.. when you play it back it sounds a bit shaky. is there anything you can do setting wise?
96xNatasha 2 months ago
@96xNatasha Keep the camera steady. Avoid zooming during video recording. Change the AF for mode to "centre", this will help to reduce noise from the Auto focus motor.
fujiguys 1 month ago
I bought this camera, I think it's very good for its price, it has satisfactory manual controls except the aperture that can be set only at wide open or very closed. You can take beatiful photos outdoors and you can play a little with DOF, too. Of course it's not wonderful indoor or in low light situations, because by 200 iso you can see a little noise, but if you use a wide aperture and a slow shutter speed photos will be light and steady, provided you don't zoom much. Con: LCD isn't very good

ChibiMikuHatsune 2 months ago
@ChibiMikuHatsune I recommend this camera to someone interested in photography but want something expensive to play around with. It does give you some controls over shutterspeed and aperture and helps you to learn a little about photography. With good lighting, this camera can take great photo's. It is a great value for your money. I would look at flickr and search for images taken with this camera.

I've been using canon point and shoot cameras for a while... and when using the manual (M) option and focusing, you can see on the LCD what the picture will look like, I mean too dark or too bright... this camera has this feature?? like a live preview??
quutamo87 2 months ago
@quutamo87 With this camera, when you shoot manually but adjusting shutterspeed and aperture, half-pressing to lock focus and exposure, it won't give you how the picture will turn out like. You have to fully take the picture. There is a guide however that indicates if your image will be over and under exposure. "A little tab that slides back and forth between + and - on a line. To much to the negative side and the image will be dark or vice versa"

@Nkayraie Exclusive product, i.e. only 1 retailer is selling that particular model. Sometimes, the different names is to identify the region where the product is selling. i.e. S2960 sold in the UK, S2950 in North America. There are different reasons to have different names on the same product.

does the amount of pictures that this camera take depend on the battery, how big the memory card is or both?
canyoustealmyheart 2 months ago
@canyoustealmyheart Both. Memory Card determines how many photo's/video clips can be stored. Most likely, you will run out of battery before you can fill a 16GB card (for example). On Alkaline, you can get approx 300 shots, NiMH rechargeable, 400-500shots, 1 Time use Lithium AA, 700 shots. On a 16GB card, you can store over 4000+ images at highest resolution (normal setting). So looking at that number, batteries will die before memory card is full.

chinnochopped 2 months ago
If you are having problems with the internal mic capturing the mechanical sounds of the camera, a way to avoid capturing these sounds and improve the sound quality in general, is to use an external audio recorder and sync the audio to the video. Readily available digital voice recorders will do the job. Better quality recorders will give better results. I commonly use either an Olympus DS-30 or Zoom H2. Both give excellent quality audio. I also use them with lapel mics for narration videos.
cfogle100 2 months ago
@cfogle100 Thanks. We did the same for previous Fuji Guys video when no mic input were available on the cameras we used.

@Drezkie No. Sorry, no external mic input.

Would this camera be good for taking vids for YouTube such as iPad reviews or generally screen captures (ie close up and still sharp video). Sort of what soldierknowsbest or tysiphonehelp does... Thanks!
ipadwatcher 3 months ago
@ipadwatcher Yes, you can do similar videos. Lighting is important in Video. Better lighting, gives you better videos.
fujiguys 2 months ago

I got some shots but there is definitely something wrong with the camera settings.
altafhussaine 3 months ago
@altafhussaine If you are taking a picture of a subject, use the Flash to add colour to the image. You could also change the whitebalance on the camera from "Auto" to "Shade" instead. This will make the image more lively. Lighting is important however when trying to obtain more colour in the photo.

fujiguys 3 months ago
OK, I bought this camera on Monday Nov.21st and I have 2 weeks to decide if I want to keep it.. a big concerns is how fast it gobbles up regular batteries. Do rechargeable batteries last any longer?? Today alone while playing with the camera, I went through 3 sets of 4 batteries!!
Also, I love the 18X zoom in my videos but the sound of the zooming in and out in the playback is bad and may be a reason to look for a different camera. What setting can eliminate the zooming noise??? RSVP ASAP THX!
pixiebobo 3 months ago
@pixiebobo Use Low Discharged NiMH batteries like the ones Sanyo produces (Eneloop). They will last approx 500 shots per charge (or more). Using 1 time use Lithium AA, it last 700 shots per charge. As for the zooming noise, unfortuntealy, that can be solved uselss of course, you don't zoom. Most if not all cameras that offer zooming with video will have noise pickup by the internal mic. Even DSLR have that issue.
fujiguys 3 months ago
@fujiguys

Thanks.
DudeinCA52 3 months ago
@DudeinCA52 There is not auto level controls on the camera for video recording. In a concert, if sound is very loud, there may be distortions. Average video recording, no issues with audio (picks up sound pretty good).
fujiguys 3 months ago
@DudeinCA52 If you are recording a concert or other loud venue, regardless of the video source you are using, it is best to capture the audio with a quality audio recorder. I would also use a mixer if possible and more than one microphone. Check out field recorders on a google search for some excellent choices or drop by your local music store. All of the major audio home recording equipment companies such as Sony, Yamaha, Tascam and Zoom offer models. I personally use a Zoom H2.

Whitsnag88 4 months ago
@Whitsnag88 Check the SD card to see if it is at least a Class 4 rated card. Slower cards will cause video recording to stop. Also, try formating the card using the camera as well.

TheCpcheatshome 4 months ago
@TheCpcheatshome I think if your take 20 shots continously vs 20 shots individually, the individual shooting will eat up more batteries in my opinion. I recommend Low Discharged NiMH batteries for any camera using AA batteries.

Hi, I recently got this camera yesterday. I would like to know what is the best setting to optimize the full capabilities of this camera? Also to get high quality pics for sports games? Thank you
valchris89 4 months ago
@valchris89 Picture quality is best with good lighting. Saying that, keeping your ISO settings low helps to reduce noise in the image. I typically would shoot in "P" mode, with ISO set to AUTO (800). For sports game, try obtain fast shutterspeeds possible (by shooting in good lighting) or increase ISO as necessary. Don't use the flash as it won't be effective for long distance shots.
