I know how to add the effect but the problem is the effect last through the entire recording... How do you get the effect to start and stop at a certain point ?

@Glitchezz You have to split the clip where you want to stop the effect, and then split the clip where you want it to stop, and then place the effect in. Hope it helped

The film effects are available in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 and also in Vegas Movie Studio 8--I guess that comes standard with all the Vegas packages.

If you want to really help people why dont you show us how to work adobe promere, thats a pain in the ass! Sony vagas is easy, adobe premere is hard. Magix and sony vagas are one oof the best semi pro thats out there. Adobe promere is really good but you have to be space ship to work it, so have a nice day bucko!

No problem, reset to none just means that you have the effect added, but so that it doesn't actually affect your video (confusing I know.) It basically means you can mess with the settings from default not using a preset.

What you mean the Video Event FX window?

On the clip, there should be like an icon, if you just point your cursor at it, it should say Even FX or something like that, click on it and you should have it. If this worked subscribe to me and if you still have problems, PM me and I can get it hopefully fixed...

for some reason my screen is sort of split in two; When i drag on the effects only half the screen changes colour or seems to take on the effect. is there some sort of way i can fix this..?

Add invert filter 100%, then the film/grain filter, then a invert filter 100% again, that will turn the film/grain inverted but the tape correct... grain is not somebring bright, its black dots, and "flickering" turns darker, not the opposite as vegas programmed it lol... /a photographer
