It is a bummer....with all these immersion sets coming out, why not remaster and release this as well? I thought they are opening up the vaults, but really the immersion sets are just like a little taste. I understand , this would be like the holy grail, as would an original master release of kqed studios, but still better than nothing
@stratfat A holy grail would be pro-shot footage of Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, &/or Animals tours. I don't need to hear remasters of songs that i've known my entire life.
Having just seen three of the shows at the O2 in London (including being right at the front for THE Gilmour appearance!) I have to say that the edgy rawness of the four shows I saw at Earls Court in 80 & 81 provided the greater excitement. Much more use was made of the quad sound system and Rick Wright's keyboard in-fills were way above that of the current tour. This video does convey pretty well the differences. The masks on the surrogate band in 80/81 also worked superbly, though now absent .
@VickersDoorter agreed. although these vids do almost 0% justice to the actual raw soundsystem back then, it was simply amazing. it was less the show than it was the sheer groundbreakingness of that whole tour of the time. much <3
I´ve been at the WALL-Concert in Berlin...300.000 peoples enjoied it and this suimmer I´ll enjoy the Wall with my son in Hamburg...GREAT MUSIC never dies!
I still remember when I listened to this song for the first time..... I was 5 years old and since then, I listen to PF every single day of my life. After the Wall album, not even Sesame Street songs made sense to me. I lost my childhood! hahahaha
I've just joined to one of Roger's tour date here in Milan. It was just like staying in heaven, seriously. Of course if Dave had been there it would have been better, but anyway all the musicians were fantastic! :)
They performed this song outside the wall, it was a big surprise to me!!!
@Xiolablu3 Well, you seem to be a bit of a Gilmour-fanboy and/or Waters-hater (just IMHO of course.) I mean WTF? Are you saying that something like Hey You is mediocre?
@Jagethemage I agree with Gilmour that the music must stand on its own before you add the 'extras' like deep lyrics for it to be truly great. I dont care for Rogers lone stuff at all. All the good floyd tracks are where they are all working togther 1975 and before, plus the songs on the wall that were written togther. And the very, very best are where Rick Wright was involved too IMHO, Great Gig.., Us and Them, etc.
I was one of many in the audience of this concert.. all I can say is just great never ever to be fogotten..I was also at the second in 1981 same venue.. can't wait to go to the o2 2011
``He's an old pig,but still a big pig`` that reminds me of Bike. There is similar sentence in that song ``He's getting rather old,but he's a good mouse``
I can imagine you envy us because the 2 shows I saw in Earls Court in 1980 and 1981 (yeah...rub it in..!) was f*cking awsome...! NOTHING compared to Roger's 2010-2011 show.
@BrianBosboom you're not alone. It's very envying and how I wish they we're the same as what we have right now. Songs that are now on hype are the best for hell. It's a waste of time to listen.

Pink Floyd are something like God's gift to music. I will see Roger live in 4 days from now in Athens. 3 sold-out shows. IMF - Wall 0-1

I saw opening night of the Wall at the Nassau Colisuem in NY in February, 1980. Over 1000 shows later, still the best show I ever saw. Period.

"We always like to do something for the disco fans" <--- hahaha best line ever spoken in rock n roll.. actually best line ever spoke ever.
brings me back to my youth haha that is too rich. Disco was yesterdays "rap" music.
god bless the floyd

syd barret left the band when the psychedelic drugs took hold and released his potential..
when roger waters released his potential, however, he took the band with him :')

This is the best song off the best album of the best band in history!
fordescortracer 11 months ago
The best songs on the Wall IMHO are the ones where Dave participated. Run Like Hell, Young Lust and Comfortably Numb.
The rest is pretty mediocre if you just take the songs themselves (just IMHO of course.)

@Xiolablu3 Well, you seem to be a bit of a Gilmour-fanboy and/or Waters-hater (just IMHO of course.) I mean WTF? Are you saying that something like Hey You is mediocre?
einysjame 11 months ago
@Xiolablu3 Not really, Another Brick in the Wall (the 3 parts) are not close to mediocre, neither are Hey You, In the Flesh? and The thin Ice.
MrMadpenguin 11 months ago
@Xiolablu3 the album was not meant to have any of the tracks "taken by themselves", although everyone is entitled to their own opinion..
every floyd album should be digested as one 'track', by means of osmosis :)

Is Roger or Andy Bown using a Bassballs or some type of envelope filter on their bass or is that just a result of the hiss removal?
Mikemaniax 2 years ago
You know,
I'm not sure; But I would still prefer it this way because the original hiss was just awful. I think this is a much better listen.
Tommygun1028 2 years ago
Yes, Andy bown is using it.
