@dafuki what i mean is these days shaolin kung fu is more like modern wushu and somehow follows the modern wushu system, high jumps, fancy stuff and sword paly same as modern wushu and modern wushu is very useless in a fight, and if shaolin follows modern wushu, that makes it useless too, but at 1.02 u can see that real shaolin combat form no fancy movements and jumps/flips ,just pure self defense and fighting

@dafuki but i really dont think they can fight, coz to perform u ONLY train that very very hard and you will be good at performing only. To be good at fighting u must only train fighting , and thats what the monks lack so yea really dont think they can fight, they can only perform but good though better than nothing. Shaolin is not really the real deal when it comes to fighting

@MechPhantom watch Fight Quest - Kung Fu, mostly the end of the show (its available on youtube), they fight with the hosts (real MMA fighters, not world class ones though) you'd see they can fight.

Besides you should know even though they perform on stage, only the good acrobats do it on the world wide tour. The rest, I assume, learn to fight more than jump in the air

@dafuki oh yea i watched the fight , but i was told and heard that they are sanda fighters not shaolin monks/practitioners. Plus i remember one part when doug meet wei dao,the sanda coach they say that " since shaolin is a performance art " the masters/monks have chosen sanda for fight" something like at so ya i think that sums up everything,shaolin is more of a performance art just like wushu maybe no fighting at all,unless if it is traditional,but its rare these days.

@MechPhantom one of them fought a "regular" sanda fighter, the other one fought a shaolin monk. I belive the definition of a Sanda fighter is just a kung-fu ring fighter (as opposed to a kung-fu performer)

@MechPhantom I honestly dont remember. one fought and lost, the other kinda won. but in the end of both fights the masters called it a tie (competition isn't really a part of TMAs)

@MechPhantom Sanda is a term for Kung Fu style ring fighting, any style. Just like WuShu its also used for a specific modern "kung fu" style which is also called Sanda. So in any Kung Fu system, it depends on your teacher. For the modern Sanda specifically it is sport-oriented (tournaments etc)

@dafuki haha good vids thx so much bro, i was akso told that any type of kung fu the fighting part is sanda , like even shaolin uses it for fighting and the forms are to like keep them fit, i think sanda is like the only combat sport in china these days.
