what is wrong with people just walking by and just don´t care about him? I would scream like a 12 year old girl and hug him if he came walking against me
I love both The Tallest Man on Earth and Shoot the Player (as long as it doesn't give people any bad ideas) for doing what they do. These live shows reconnect humanity with music in what used to be mundane; it's beautiful. La Blogotheque inspired and you both promote such a beautiful thing. Thank you!
I am a huge TTMOE fan but i don't think his lyrics or anybody elses can be put above Bob Dylans. I like TTMOE's style of playing ALOT, maybe more than Dylan, but Dylan was a poet, and his lyrics are some of the best ever written. TTMOE makes the best music that is out today hands down, and i agree that he can be compared to Dylan, but certainly not put above him.
I know it's common to compare him to Dylan - but i like him far better...all apologies but I like his voice, style, lyrics far better than Dylan's - I couldn't ever embrace Bob Dylan's music completely - but this - i dunno feels flawless and easy - Dylan had the tension of the Vietnam war and protests as a backdrop so his music really arose from the times - but this feels even more timeless somehow-
I saw him play this song about 2 feet from my face in a crowd of about 60 people in an old church turned intimate music venue. Was lucky enough to get a ticket in a city where a thousand could have sold.
You know, this man started an entire adventure for me. I made my way across two provinces to see him play in Montreal, to find out I was stranded, with no cash and a big bottles of beer. Awwwh yeah. I have him some drawings I did during the show with a note asking him to jam with me, but no such luck.. He was probably tired, and security kicked me out.. To this day I don't know whether or not he came back out... But let me tell you. What a frucking incredible show. Real moving.
I'm never heard such honesty and simplistic beauty in a song before. It's just so simply amazing that this is modern and not a man from a hundred years ago. It's like we have a time machine that brings us back to a much simpler time in music. Stunning.....
"We don't have those in Sweden, thats a German thing".....thats priceless haha.
thats great you gave credit to blogotehque, why not just create a new way to introduce the artist and add your own flavor, i mean why keep the same black and white text motif? thats what im sayin
@lkjhgfdsa954 Originally we did the same credits design because we thought it would be more of an acknowledgement of the Blogotheque - and we definitely wanted to acknowledge those guys. The look and style of our clips has definitely evolved since then - and we've been talking about changing our credits too.
@lkjhgfdsa954 I Can't speak for STP, but why over complicate things by trying some innovative new thing that could totally suck. These, and Blogotheques, vids are simple and rather intimate, and it works wonderfully for both
This guy is great...but I'm sure he would slap the shit out of anyone who says he's better than Bob Dylan. Even if he is he would never admit it--or feed that kind of compliment.
As we've explained in other comments, we started Shoot the Player with the blessing and encouragement of Vincent and Chryde from the Take Away Shows. They were particularly interested in seeing artists filmed in both Paris and Australia - as Tallest Man is. We credit Blogotheque at the end of every one of our clips.
Hopefully none of this gets in the way of you enjoying the music.
This really an amazing video. TTMOE is an incredible artist. I love the people just walking by as if nothing special is happening. If I saw that on street my jaw would drop to the ground and my toes with tingle with the pleausre of complete and utter satisfaction.
oh... I'm a big fan of The Tallest Man on Earth... just talking about the way fonts are used... the way you film... and it's just a question... no hate :)
DITTO! ..so happy to see someone feels the same way - i believe The Tallest Man but i'll probably get a lot of flack for saying the Bob is lost on me :)
He's totally not using open Gm tuning in this song. I've tried. The Cadd4 above is really close. I been able to work out some of the chords in that tuning already.
maybe on brainystuff.de ?

@CharlieS9227 I completely respect your opinion, but Thousand Ways is insanely beautifully written.
As a non-native english speaker, I have to listen to his songs hundreds of times before I discover what's behind them...
Guess I should get into bob dylan some more? ;]

@dollemate Sounds like it's supposed to be open C, but everything is under that pitch, a bit closer to B. It's in tune with itself, though.

His guitar is tuned to Cadd4 (CGCFCE). I don't know what the chords he uses are called but they tab out to:
0x4200
505400
200120
002020
He throws this chord into the chorus: 020001. Just watch the video to see which chords he uses when and get a sense of picking, timing etc. Enjoy.
