This show was aired quite frequently on french cable - I love it.Not only the music/performance is great, but there are also very creative shots there. The only drawback is that Brett re-recorded his vocals for some of the songs. It's fairly common to do so, butI don't know, I prefer a slighly flawed vocal than a note perfect studio re-recording any time.
I was only 13 yo when I first heard about Suede on TV, with their Animal Nitrate and I was absolutely fascinated. I've liked them ever since and I've only been able to go to one of their concerts but it was amazing and touching. I couldn't get any autograph from Brett but while he was signing other ppl's cds and stuff I was staring at him touching his right cheek, looking at him as if I was looking to a God. My God at that moment. Great band. That'll always be my fav song. Love them. xx
Lo que daría por ver a esta banda en vivo, siempre fui fan de Suede, lástima que acá en México se emocionen más con Zoé o Moderato, es una pena...QUE VIVA SUEDE!!
beside the excellent performances by brett and bernard, i do think mat's bass also contributed a lot to the band, and in my opinion, he is one of the best bass guitarists.
@Jonny0W Not sure why you think that, he always seems to be overlooked, possibly because he's gone down the production road and isn't performing much anymore. Definitely don't think he's as well known as Greenwood and/or Coxon
@cath21212121 Hehe, sorry to seem flabbergasted. You're right- these days he is not as well-known as Greenwood/Coxon but I think he is highly rated. One is a question of fame- the general public and the young know Radiohead and Blur better than they know Suede- but I think critics and music fans mostly credit BB among best guitarists of his decade. "Hailed by some critics as the greatest guitarist of his generation..."(wikipedia)
Nice to see people enjoying this amazing '93 gig 19 years later!

@cath21212121 "Underrated"?? I think he's widely acknowledged as one of the best guitarists of the 90s, alongside Greenwood and Coxon

One of Anderson's better performances. Butler still steals the show, though.

the legend! Happy who could see them live. I wish I could, but I was 3 or 4 in 1993, I suppose ;)

Suede were good after Butler left, but awe inspiring before he did. Often imitated, never beaten.

bernard writes such dark but catchy melodies.
beastnitrate 3 years ago 3
But is it really just his melody? Or did Bert have some input?? ;-)
Best bit? Mat affords himself a wry smile at 1.18..
