Well, we did have a decent cold snap. However, this past winter went down as one of the top 3 snowless winters in Colorado Springs and also one of the warmest. January 1 to June 30 was the 3rd driest period in recorded history for Colorado Springs. Hoping we get more this winter and looking forward to seeing more videos.
Type in Colorado Springs Blizzard 2006 and I think that you might feel a little different about your opinion of a Blizzzard. Check out the vids around the area and in Monument Colorado on the outskirts of the city. You must not have lived in the area for very long. This winter if one of the driest on record and a little 9 inch drift isn't anything in comparison to the 15 to 20 foot drifts that the area has had in the past. We used to get storms like that more often then we do now.
@Weather2525 Sorry sunny boy I have been here for 24 years going on 25 this year. I have lived on the southside of town all my life so I know how it gets up north. This winter went from being a dry one to an extremely cold one quickly.
That was a joke of a storm. My Wrangler on 33" Duratracs stomped all over town with absolutely no lose of traction. The problem that day was, every douche that had a pile of shit car on bullshit all seasons was out that day. And to you truck owners, D and E load BFG All terrains ARE NOT SNOW TIRES! STAY OFF THE ROAD JUST THE SAME! If you want to easily get around in the snow, set your vehicle up for snow like I did.
that was a rather weak snow, i have 20 inches in my yard without measuring the 3 foot drifts or the 6 foot snow bank next to the driveway, it wasnt all at once, but about 14-15 inches of it was overnight and the local schools didnt even open late.
@mur1oc LOL okay its weak snow but yet it caused a 20 car pileup 30minutes north of my location. Its easy to say the shit is weak when you ain't here to deal with it.
@vfIskullangel having gone through conditions where a snowplow got stuck in front of my house because the snow was so deep and heavy. I've lived through worse snows, but I'm also smart enough to be inside before the blizzard hits.
what everyone seems to be forgeting though is that blizzard is defined by the wind speed and reduced visibility, so a 9" patch of snow isn't a good indicator of how bad a blizzard was/is.
@mur1oc Correct. The definition of a Blizzard is it has to be actually snowing (not blowing snow) winds of over 30kts and vis less than 1/2 mile for 4 hours.
@Jaz3chi - ya this video clearly shows some fool out measuring a DRIFT when there was grass covered lightly with snow lol. This guy is smoking some happy weed for sure.
@smikules You are fucking stupid. How about you read the info box instead of making a stupid ass assumpsion "HE"S MEASURING SNOW DRIFTS" You clearly don't know jack about shit. Sure this has been the most driest winter we've had in years but to say colorado rarely gets snow shows you don't know shit.
@smikules What I can't believe is the fact that you go and say "Colorado hardly gets snow" You obvoiusly have not lived here nor haven't lived here long enough to know that during the winter months this place gets snow almost every single weekend!. You can't make an assumpsion that it wasn't a blizzard, i laugh at those who say this was weak. WTF are you people in the Marine corps? Cause I haven't seen a storm that bad in awhile.
@smikules Have you ever lived here? Serious if you haven't please STFU cause we get the most extreme weather conditions of everything, snow, rain, hail. you are a fucking idiot to say Colorado never gets snow when in reality it snows just about every weekend here during the winter months.
@vfIskullangel Try Minnesota this year. We have had multiple storms each dropping an extra 15+ inches of snow. It is uncommon for the temperature to be above 0 degrees Fahrenheit. A few years ago I woke up in the morning and on my way to work the marquee for the local bank read -58F, and windchill was -79F.
We had 1(one) snowstorm that dropped 17" of snow. Not multiple. There was another snowstorm that dropped probably 5" and the sleet that we had yesterday. Though it is the snowiest year in 30 some years. 3 years ago I remember driving to a friends house and the thermometer on my car showed -46F.
@vfIskullangel Umm.. Colorado Doesn't get much snow. And Colorado Springs doesn't get much hail either. Just EAST of colorado springs gets hammered with hail and everything. But not the city of Colorado Springs.
@JusNov16 What? How long have you been here? Cause after 24 years being here I can tell you that the weather is not only strange but to the extreme. This has been the driest winter season I have experienced in while since the drought back in 2003.
@vfIskullangel Well after 24 years here you should move. "Extreme" doesn't apply to Colorado Springs. Move east about 40 miles. They get WAY more hail and severe weather than we do in the springs. I have lived in MN and ND, these winters are hardly extreme. In the summer you should go visit NE, KS, or OK, thats extreme.
@JusNov16 Well since you can't even predict whats on its way THIS coming monday you should think about another career..... Extreme applys to Colorado in general and any fool that says otherwise is a moron or hasn't been here for very long to make a correct judgement. They might get WAY MORE HAIL AND SEVERE weather but that doesn't justify the fact that when it rains it pours here. From here on till the summer months we will get snow nearly every weekend from now on. It's almost Scheduled.
@vfIskullangel What part of Colorado do you recommend for someone like 26 years old to live?? I live in Fl and want to move to Colorado just not sure where?
