strange how the memories flood back from seeing a logo and a few seconds of music. just saw the westward ident too. my granddad loved `out of town` and i well remember `how`.
Bring back the days when regional TV had an identity! ITV today is just one unattractive lump. All the old ITV idents were mini works of art, long before computers, all done with cardboard and stop-frame photography! Keep hoping someone will bring out a DVD with all the idents present, sounds a bit anorak I know but the 60's and 70's were great days of ITV.
Have a look on here there are multi ITV indent clips on u tube all merged as one clip. I totally agree bring back the days when a TV station bought a program they showed the station who produced it at the beginning and at the end not like today where everything is marketed under the regional company that is broadcasting the show.
Many thank's Voxac100b. Unfortinately I only have a dongle net connection so clips longer than a minute take days to load! The good thing is that Network, the DVD producer, when they bring out a series always include the old ITV idents on all episodes so it's like watching the prog as it was broadcast in the 70's. I'm sure you know of it but the website, TV Ark is a brilliant site for all things TV and all the old idents, including some rare B&W examples are there.
The spinning star was used only once, on the final programme broadcast by Southern. If you want to see it go to My Channel stgxf04, and look for 'And it's Goodbye from us' part four I think, might be part three - cannot remember how many parts I made of it now!
I'm getting a tattoo of the Southern TV logo tomorrow. I love regional ITV as was.

It looks like the logo for the "Church" of Scientology - you don't think there's a connection, do you?

I can't think of any other programme we got in Yorkshire besides Out of Town that had this ident for Southern. I like it.

I think Granada TV was the only intent out of all regions, which did not have a piece of music accompanying it

I don't think Border's caption had any music either.

I do love the guitar jingle. There is another clip where the star spins around and flies. i was 2/3 when Southern TV was defunct
