If they really want natural, take away the saddle. Duh. Bareback and bridaless is even better!! But I ride bareback with a halter or bitless bridal most of the time.:) but as long as your not hurting the horse, pressure is not bad. It helps guide, but your legs do most of that work (are supposed too anyways...).
My horse used to respond to my voice for almost any orders. I hardly ever had to use my legs or the reins. I never tried to ride her brideless though.
