I agree with you, but you should not be so quick to judge. It wasn't about money, or thrills. The landowner was going to pull them down and burn them. Instead, over 6 months I took them apart board by board, at great personal cost. I managed to save about 85% of the wood, which will live on in other forms, rather than going up in smoke.
I have done this kind of work before. One time I happened to be inside a barn when it fell before we thought it was ready. Obviously I survived. Although I did end up with a cracked skull and some major cuts and scrapes. But I can use the skull thing as an excuse now when I forget something or do something dumb
Not a good way to take down a barn! Looks like more wood was destroyed than saved..

What a shame! Old barns should be maintained. These wonderful barns will never be built again and they will be missed in the landscape.
