@ciawarrior I have camped in this area.....but only once.
If you live in the Ventura County area - my absolute favorite area to camp is in the Sespe Wilderness. When I say "camp" I mean backpack. I like to hike to where I don't have to camp around others. Check out the Sespe River Trail. It is accessed through the Piedra Blanca Trailhead. If you call the Los Padres Forest Ranger, they will tell you how to get there. The trail is flat, has lots of water and is great for camping.
first two times i went on this hike i almost got heat stroke, though that was becuase i wasnt expecting to go trhough my water so fast lol. hopeing the trail hasnt changed much since i last went becuase i dont remember how to get the the falls by following the water anymore :/
@minipancho94 You can literally get to the first waterfall by just rock hopping down the creek. It is tiring to go that route and you will likely get wet. People are sometimes surprised by how strenuous this hike can be in the heat. It can be unforgiving. It is especially hard on dogs b/c of the wet slippery rocks they are forced to pull themselves over. I nearly killed my Aussie here once. I'd bring a water purifier and a tarp for H2O and emergency sun shelter. Thanx for the message!
Ahhh, that's where you got it-- trailblazen'. Absolutely beautiful scenery and great cam work. I've never been to the socal woods, we seem to think it's all city down there..lol. JK... Hope you are feeling better.
Yes it is very beautiful here. Directly adjacent to Los Angeles we have the Santa Monica Mountains and the Angeles National Forest. About an hour north of L.A., the Sespe Wilderness is one of the larger true wilderness areas in the U.S. Thanks for the comment friend.
It is a great place to go. The only drawback is you'll get a little angry by the site of graffiti on rocks left by some of the local idiots. It is still a great place, however.

Looks like a nice place. I was just bushwacking my way to Black Star Canyon Falls and my arms are slashed up now...hehe. I bet if the people in the midwest saw those guys swimming in January they would be jealous.

Nice! I've done the very first part of the trail but quickly went the wrong way and just headed back. Even that took an hour to hike.

I screwed up and hit a nice patch of poison oak. It was a good hike but I now look like I was hit with a canister of German mustard gas. :)
