Just a small nit-pick; IIRC Santa Claus wasn't purely a commercial invention, he was based on St. Nicolaas (Sinterklaas). I don't remember exactly how he mutated into Santa Claus.

I agree with most of what you said. I do take exception with your statement that western civilization was based on the Bible. I would argue that the origins of Western civilization date back to the ancient Greeks. Hellenistic make possible the spread of the Greek Bible and its teachings in the ancient world. It was the rediscovery of Greek writings in the 15th century that sparked a revival of western civilization. The role of the Bible is significant, but it had precursors.
The poster was clearly a lame attempt to say 'socialist' health policies are the same as blowing up a hospital.
They can't see that Hitler's "socialist health system" (i don't know if he had one, I'm not a historian, but I doubt it's the system Obama proposes!) is what made Hitler evil...not the gassing people :P
They also see socialism as randomly chucking money at a crowd...If they think liberalism and anarchy are socialism I can't expect them to get it right.
In defense of the the Spiderman argument - the Spiderman movie was based more on the 'Ultimate Spiderman' series, and if I'm not mistaken, in that series it WAS a genetically modified spider. :p
