Wow, here I thought the research was done by a reputable group. Africa is full of scam groups trying to get westerners dollars. Apparently Dr. Oz and Oprah fell for it too!!
Ive beentaking african mango extract for about 3 months and ive lost 37lbs. However i DID change my eating habits and excercise. Ive tried to lose weight before without the extract and ONLY changing my eating and excercise habits and havent been as successful as i have been with the extract. It really works but you have to change your lifestyle also.
The "African Mango Diet" is just another supplement scam to make money. just like the "Grape fruit diet" they are all good so then just take them all...in whole- raw food form!
Fresh, raw, whole foods that are not juiced are the only sure way. not processed, dried powders or extracts. They don't even contain the plant fibers which carry the toxins out of the body. at best It's like moving the toxins from the liver and the gallbladder and not removing them causing a even bigger problem!
Thank you Larry this is very useful. Some of the people who are taking it, say they are exercising and eating healthy and guess what they are losing weight! Wonder why ? (in a sarcastic tone).
Thank you for posting this. I was curious about the "study", too...very well explained and nicely done.
By the way, does anyone else find it curious that none of the researchers at this university have a professional email, but rather use personal hotmail and yahoo accounts?
These same researchers did another study on another supplement called Cylaris or cissus quadrangularis which was completely phony also.
I have not made a video about this study yet, but will, and will explain how I know the data was faked.
Here is the study I'm talking about.
Oben J, Kuate D, Agbor G, Momo C, Talla X. The use of a cissus quadrangularis formulation in the management of weight loss and metabolic syndrome. Lipids Health Dis. 2006, 5:24.
Have anyone tried this, including the one who is talking about the product, the only way of proving this is by trying it! I have tried Hoodia for a week and did not work but I know some people that I worked with it did work for them but they took longer then one month. I guess I did not give enough time to Hoodia. I will try a month to see if it really works.
Apparently there is a lot of fake Hoodia on the market, so I would only buy from a large, reputable company.
The research suggests to me that it causes weight loss, but I would NEVER take it long-term because the patent notes that a study in rats found that giving them Hoodia made their liver "friable", which means it turned to dust with a little hand pressure.
Yikes!
Africans don't give it to children because children have DIED!
I've just come up with a sure-fire way to loose weight WITHOUT drugs. It's called "Exercise daily + only eat healthy foods and modest portion sizes" diet! This could be the single biggest break through of our time! Try it for 60 days. If you don't notice any change, please let me know.
@graycam I didn't notice any change at all with your "Exercise daily." I tried it for 72 days but haven't seen any results yet. Can I get my refund, please?
@vietdude1979 LOL. Sorry to hear it. Dropping weight can be a chore and a half. Yes, by all means. Full refund is in the mail (minus shipping and handling).
@sokkie The whole "why don't you just try it and see for yourself" motto is EXACTLY what these companies are bargaining on. You'll spend your $40 bucks or more plus shipping and handling. Then, you'll realize it doesn't work and attempt to cancel, only to discover that two additional shipments have already been processed and charged to your credit card. Then you have to jump through hoops to get the money back...if you even can. Thanks Larry for the detailed look into a suspicious offering.
larry!! great job i wish there was more people like you who help others to check pros and con about products we don'n know anything about,if we completly ignore what we put in our bodies we could end up sick not knowing anithing at all. thank you,i don't belive it also.
#2 DECAFFEINATED GREEN TEA EXTRACT FOR WEIGHT LOSS
The LEF also used to sell, or may still sell, a decaffeinated green tea extract product for weight loss.
Research from obesity research Abdul Dulloo, MD, PhD, who I interviewed about 10 years ago, shows that caffeine is an important component and interacts with the polyphenols in green tea to increase thermogenesis.
Good question! To be honest, the premise is nice, about our bodies being leptin resistant and all. We add to that problem with our poor food and lifestyle choices. So, even if you are taking Irvingia, you have to be willing to cut out all those fun things that stop it from working. In other words, Irvingia is not a magic bullet.
I have been taking it for three weeks and have gained weight! Very disappointed

I don't know if it has any effect on weight or not.
All I'm saying here is that it is obvious that this study is a fake.

Defiantly works as an appetite suppressant as well as an energizer. However, 28lbs in a month without diet or exerciser is defiantly not true.

Tammy,
No, I have not tried Irvingia / African Mango.
If you try it, let us know what you find.
A simple rule to follow to know if something is going to work is that you will know it right away.
If you don't lose weight in the first week, it is not going to work.
Companies like to say, "You did not use it long enough," but that it complete nonsense.
If you want to try something, buy it from a store where they will let you get your money back if it does not work.

I don't like seeing people get ripped off.
I don't like seeing people lied to.
I don't like seeing people being taken advantage of.
I don't like it when companies use phony studies to steal people's hard-earned money.
They lied to the us about hydroxictrate for weight loss. It's not effective.
The lied to us about pyruvate also. It's not effective either.
I am also going to make a video about a study done with a cissus quadrangularis formuation (Cylaris) that contains fake data.

Are you pushing out your own hidden agenda ?
Robert Harding
rockstarDax 2 years ago
Robert,
My goal is to always tell the truth regardless of where it leads.
I like the Life Extension Foundation and have read their newsletter and bought things from them since 1982...
But I have disagreed with them about several things.
#1 CLA FOR WEIGHT LOSS
They used to sell -- and maybe still do -- CLA for weight loss.
I think it is worthless.
The only human study I have seen on CLA in humans that shows weight loss, I believe it completely bogus.
larryshobbs 2 years ago
Robert,
The second thing where I disagree with the LEF.
So using a decaffeinated product is a mistake.
larryshobbs 2 years ago
Robert,
The third thing where I disagree with the LEF.
#3 CHITOSAN FOR WEIGHT LOSS
The LEF also sells chitosan for weight management.
The research on chitosan shows that it only blocks about 10 calories per day.
The research suggest to me that it is worthless, yet they continue to sell it for this.
In their weight loss protocol, they point to a 1997 study from Medstat Research claiming it caused a large amount of weight loss and fat loss.
This research was bogus.
larryshobbs 2 years ago
Robert,
The fourth thing where I disagree with the LEF...
#4 HCA FOR WEIGHT LOSS
They continue to sell HCA -- hydroxycitric acid -- for weight management.
The research shows it does not work.
A study by Steven Heymsfield, MD from Columbia University found that people given a placebo lost more weight than those given HCA.
larryshobbs 2 years ago
Robert,
Do you think it is wrong to sell product for weight loss based on bogus research if you know or suspect the research is bogus?
I do.
If you know it is bogus or suspect that it is bogus, I think you have to say so and stop using the bogus research to sell your stuff.
larryshobbs 2 years ago
Robert,
The fifth thing where I disagree with the LEF...
#3 SELLING A MULTIVITAMIN WITHOUT COPPER
This has nothing to do with bogus research.
I think they simply misinterpreted the research.
I would guess that they probably realize they made a mistake, but have not been able to bring themselves to admit it to the public.
Maybe 15-20 years ago, the LEF started selling a version of their multivitamin WITHOUT copper.
,,, to be continued in the next comment...
