The beauty of Waylon was that he was ours (the fans), not the establishments top 40 puppet. In hind sight, as a fan, I'm glad he wasn't an industry puppet, stuck to his guns and did his thing. Although it sucked in the 70's not hearing him on the radio.
yea Waylon broke the Nashville mould an he was Outlawed by them for a while, which was the best thing that could have happened . His fans never left him and still haven't RIP Waylon
Teddie, I am going to bookmark this. I wasn't sure what the title of this song was, but I knew I could find it on youtube. I was in college at Texas A&M in 1975 and drinking in a bar with 2 owners that kind of looked like willie and waylon called the Dixie Chicken. Pick up the pieces and take it on home, the singer aint singing and the drummer been dragging too long was one of the favorite songs there. I have 2 double waylon albums I bought the past 2 years. Thanks
This is another song that puts Waylon and Willie's fight to play their music THEIR way front and center. It should be a good motivator for today's artists - the ones the radio stations aren't playing and the recording industry doesn't want any part of. Thanks for yet another awesome song and video!
quiet and i'm loud, and i'm gatherin' a crowd and i like gravy - i'm 'bout half off the wall and i learned it all in the navy...
