The L85A1 only had two main problems, the magazine would often fall out under stress, and it jammed easily. I know this because I come from a military family and my father and uncle both used it in the first Gulf War. The new A2 version is brilliant though and is one of the best bullpup rifles around.

My friend has the ARES L85 and the grenade launcher, what he did to fix the battery problem was attach a PEQ box to the rail on the launcher. He did some custom wiring through one of the tiny holes on the launcher's heat shield so, he did not have to leave the top cover open.

Its British military service name is SA80 and it was only sold to the British military so I don't understand why airsoft doesn't use the same name as the only people who use it.

The Modelname is sometimes entirely different, like the G36 being called HK50 by HK back when it was new, and several other guns...M4 or M16 is also just a military declaration, the Model name is M and 3 digit number...and there are over 100 models<.<

SA80 stands for "Small Arms for the 1980s" and refers to the entire family of bullpup rifles used by the British Army. The L85A2 is the assault rifle, the L86A2 is the LSW and the L22A1 is a short barrelled version which was supposed to be issued to tank crew, but never was...

All British guns are given a "Land Force Designation" which is an L followed by a number...
