Hey, just a few quick questions. I have a 1971 302 and I'm looking to rebuild it, how much do the heads and intake cost features on this engine ad could a 351 cam work with all other 302 parts? And also is this engine rollerized?
@ultimaterocker14 The 351 Cleveland heads were first used on the 1969 boss 302 Trans Am race car engines. You'll find as many if not more 302 cams than you will 351 Cleveland cams. Ever hear of the 1972 -1982 Ford (Geelong Cleveland) Aussie built 302 Cleveland engine? Half inch smaller stroke crankshaft swinging 6" connecting rods, 351 Cleveland 2V heads, smaller combustion chambers, 2.05" int & 1.65" exh valves. It revs like a street version of the road racing 69 Boss Mustang engines.
@70scarrestoguy A guy down in Massachusetts has one in a lightened, supercharged 77 Mustang II cobra. Safely revs up to 7,000 RPMs. Do some research, define your goals, formulate a plan & stick to it. The 302 is a great little engine & their fun to work on.
lol, dude this is probably the coolest cleveland vid on youtube. Wicked response and totally dig the mural with pipes coming out the side of the building!
@v8maveco302 351 Clevelands didnt just come in Pantera's.. but yes this would be a engine that came in a pantera... they also cam in Ford Torino's, Mustangs, i cant think of all of them they came in.. but key thing they never came in a truck stock. and were only built 70-74
@Krieger91 first off a hell of alot cheaper (flowmasters typically start at 189 each) and way louder.. well not really after getting it tuned right unless you really rev it my mustang isnt that loud... cherry bombs.. glasspacks are 29 each from kragen (csk or murphys same thing) the only issue is they are alot heavier. another option would be the new thrush chambered muffler.. classic name new technology, same 30-40 dollar price tag as the cherrybomb pack.
@papabugs71 hmm I concede I havent paid too much attention lately, tho thats what they used to cost from there.. there still are alot over 100 tho.. and thrushs and cherrybomb packs are still the cheapest
@jaratt85 Flowmaster let their patent go a few years back. The welded thrush mufflers are flowmasters with thrush stamped on them. I have held them side by side & you cant tell them apart. Even the welds are identical !! The local parts house had a sale on the thrush mufflers during the summer & they were $25 bucks each. You cant beat that !!
@papabugs71 like I said lol.. I cant wait to hear a set of cherry bomb glass packs behind a built big block, with as good as they make my 302 sound, they must be amazing behind a bb.. Im dying to have a 70s ford truck again and part of me would love to put a set on it, but then again my mustang annoys me after a few miles so Id probably go with thrushs.. tho my muustang also has no sound deadener or carpet so that might help lol
I didn't know Tom Arnold built performance engines....... :)

@jaratt85 I don't know where you shop for mufflers but Flowmaster mufflers start at $69 bucks each from Summit.
