looking at it from a critical point of view, I'd probably rate Deja Entendu at the top. Weapon is more typical Long Island Emo, while Devil+God is a slightly pretentious and over-the-top. Although I find Devil+God to be my favourite album, I still love every single song from every album almost equally. Maybe it's just cause its the newest so it sounds fresher right now?
i wouldnt say that they have gone downhill... i'd say more of they have found their feet, because my favourite weapon was kinda punky/lively, but the two albums afterwards are slower, more acoustic and if you ask me, with more feeling.

The only reason the new album sounds so "emo" is because jesse got pissed that the songs got leaked before the album came out and refused to PRODUCE the entire album. he produced 2 or 3 songs and Vin produced the rest. i read it in an interview. jesse produced everything before. handcuffs,vin wrote. thats one of the most depressing songs on the album. and Limousine is about a true story of a 7 year old girl getting killed by a drunk driver.theres story behind everything they're writing.
yeah, i don't like the direction brand new is going in, too dark, too emo, and i am sorry for everyone that thinks they aren't emo but when everyone one of your songs has to do with melodramatic heart ache of some sort you are emo, its ok deal with it, i like them a lot and i can call them emo
if brand new reminds you of "storyoftheyear." then stop listening to them. because youre missing something, they write real music. nothing like story of the year...at all.
