Yes it is some foggy air or something like that. Ive seen a tv show on it... Really interesting but not that amazing once you actuall know how its done you could probably install something like that at home by now really easily ..
It's not really 3d. The images look to be projected on a fog, or mist that is being emitted from the device. The images are computer graphics. It is cool, but not 3d. Maybe experimenting with light wavelengths in a cube or sphere filled with fog or translucent particles would be possible.
Sorry to break it down to you but 3d projection does not exist yet to our knowledge...only those things w/ the mirror...and yeah you can clearly see that the image moves along with the steam or smoke or w/e the machine is blowing...I saw that technology on Discovery Channel I think it was.
Omg they even explained it are you serious? No seriously you're playing around right? It was a lady and you could tell that it was fake as shit...it was a green screen, 80's technology I believe...if not earlier than that lol.
My cat made something similar to this in her litterbox.

If use gas or mist, how the laser light shapes are fixed?(air particles are not fixed)
wks1030 1 year ago
@wks1030 shoot a lazer pointer at a piece of paper, move the paper around
why doesnt the lazer move with the page?

Its water vapor. Water vapor is blown up in a thin stream, and a image is projected onto it.

i actually made something similar. but just the display no the touch interface
all you need is some constant stream of STEAM and fire a projector at it ;)

@SMITHERSTHEMAGICIAN I think the "touch" part is more like how the x-box kinect works ...
