I was at this game when I was a student. It was bout 109 degrees and I was as hungover as a pontiac full of Indians. 5 of my buddies and I got in on 2 student passes (pre 9/11 you could leave the stadium then) and this was an epic game... This is the loudest I've ever heard Owen field, before or since during this play. I was at 2000 OU-Neb to put it into perspective. Great, great game.
from birmingham and was at this game. Great stadium great fans and great school, oklahoma i mean. This was without a doubt the most heartbreaking loss i've ever been a part of. Maybe one day bama will get to go back bc i'd be there for sure
I wish OU and Bama would play more often. Bama and OU fans know what it truly means to be a fan. It's about tradition and mutual respect when these two teams play. I was there that day and still get chills seeing this one. Boomer Sooner!
I am a Bama fan but I have to say that this was one awesome game even though we lost! Would be nice to see the two matched up again in the future. OU has some great fans.
@jennsmark6 I think it's safe to say most of our fans feel the same way about your fans. Congrats on beating those goddamn Longhorns in the title game.
I don't brag much but i told many people that bama would match up very well against ou that year. Fell way behind in the first half. Really gutsy calls by coach fran and we were back in it.
as a bama fan, this still makes me want to throw up. We did everything possible to win that game. Oh well, I can stand losing to OK. At least you beat coach Fran.
I love Oklahoma, Roll Tide. :)

Tyler Watts is the only QB in the history of football to throw the ball backwards.

Bassey almost had a Don Beebe/Russell Maryland moment.
Lucky for him, or Venables would still have him running stadiums.
Hard to not love Bama too. They are the only SEC team I really pull for.

To this day, I count that moment as the 2nd loudest stadium I've ever been in.
It seemed the OU fans were anxious, the Tide was moving the ball, and then the Recovery happened.
So loud, he ran right toward the Bama section, I couldn't believe the kid from Garland, TX did it. ugh
But man oh man, what a game!

2nd loudest I've been in, too. Loudest was Eugene when our kick got blocked. Ear-splittingly shitty.

The comments below are why 'Bama fans rule. Classy whether it's in victory or defeat. Y'all are welcome back in Norman any time, much respect.
