Which is exactly why I stood in the section between cars when riding in Japan. I've found the best time is anywhere from noon-3pm

Oh no, it's real! They even have platform attendents whose sole job at the busiest times is to shove people into the cars, literally packing them in so the doors can close. REALLY!!
