They can still be brought back even when they "die" onscreen, which Vinnie didn't. Plus Ryan Kwanten is open to the possibility of returning one day, or so I read not long ago. It is probably unlikely considering where his career is now but you never know.

if you miss ryan kwanten (vinnie patterson) so much then watch him on FX on fridays on True Blood, its awesome and hes even hotter now than he was back then :).
