I am still awe-struck by her songwriting skills, even if the arrangementrs were stripped back further, there's this amplified melodic structure, not unlike Cobain's!
Whatever happened to her indeed... She went on to make a gigantic stack of increasingly amazing records is what happened. In Exile Deo, Made in China and How to Walk Away are totally exceptional rocking wonder.
There were very few 90's albums that I liked as much as "Only Everything"; I cannot think of one 90's album that I liked more. Although I like many songs from her subsequent albums, all of those records contain songs that sound to me like filler. She has never again come close to matching that the overall quality of that one. Which is not to say that she couldn't. Nor does it even matter much, because songs matter much more than albums. This is a really good Juliana Hatfield song.
Juliana - damn, you rock baby! Dug you since I first heard your stuff; awesome voice and badass guitar, but your songwriting really rung my bells - something different about you that is really cool. Hope you're still out there doing it, and God would I love to jam with you! If you're ever in Grand Rapids Michigan.....?
I heard this on an old sampler called Current Vision or something like that years and years ago. Always loved it. Used to be girls who could rock...what happened to that? We need more of that.
It's such a shame that she never gained as much attention as some of her contemporaries of the time. She's such a better musician than, say, Courtney Love.
@seign It is a shame but we can at least say that we have a rare, special gem thats shared with her fans. Oh god, I just realize this song is 15 yrs old. Has it been that long? Damn...
@seign She's not just a better musician, but a more refined, better person than Courtney Love. I have no interest meeting Courtney Love. I would be happy to meet Juliana Hatfield.
Yeah, there was an actual video for this- I have that one too, but Youtube didn't allow me to post it. Juliana portrays a grungy/psychotic aerobics instructor in it-- haha!. This live version was from 120 Minutes Live.
@spmnh another 1 of her vids which was on beavis&butthead. the other i know of is `what a life'. in it b&b r diggin her looks & wishin they could jiggle da jello mounds
she's still performing and making music. i just saw her perform last saturday in Maine, and last May in Boston. she might be retiring from music or taking a break soon, though.
The song sounds a little distorted. It needs to remastered.

From 2.41 and out. Amazing rock groove and intense vocals! They really hit the nails. Chills! This is what rock to us is all about. All the best, V&R

One of my favorite musicians from the 90's .... she was so good ...whatever happened to her???

She is a good musician, but I really feel her voice is too soft for the kind of music she plays, it's very off-putting for me.

This song just popped into my mind. And here it is. Shame that they won't let you upload the actual film clip. I remember it. It was cool.

I haven't heard this song in ages! I miss the 90's, when music television didn't suck and they showed and supported quality bands making REAL music!

@RowenaEvan So true! The 90`s were indeed good! Very different from what we are being "force fed" on tv and radio now music wise!

Juliana portrays an incredibly hot and downright yummy aerobics instructor in it.
