It's real spooky how there was no profit taking today on Gold. DJIA was -5pts today, and the metals held ground even gained. Lots of non traditional buyers, Insurance companies, pension funds...I predict premiums for physical will go up. I predict the USD will go below the low set on 9/22 this week. Does no one see what's been going on here with the dollar? Before the previous dollar rally happened the number of dollar bears was over 90%. Whenever 90% of one group does anything the market goes the other way, hence the large rally. Now the number of dollar shorts are higher than before... 95%+. Article comes out about the dollar's demise... just like one came out about the Euros demise before it rose almost 50%.

I don't know if millions will die this winter , I am not a numbers guy but I know base on the current trend a lot of people will starve and suffer...a lot of factor plays in way I believe this winter will be brutal...i.e. -people won't be able to afford heat and get sick and get other people sick ..it's a collatoral effect I mean there are other factors also but as a collective feeling about what's coming it's not good.....

Aran08504: Once the USD loses reserve currency, all things imported will skyrocket. Unfortunately, we import just about everything. Any $ people will have will be spent on basics like food & shelter. Interest rates will have to go up if the government is to get any buyers of its debt. Most people will be flat broke. Local governments will go bankrupt. USA, the mixing pot, will become a boiling pot, as heterogeneous societies don't react well to economic hardship.

Its obviously not about terrorism. You can't really even fight terrorism. I live in the UK in Northern Ireland and I am amazed as I go to differnet malls and see people everywhere with packages weighing them down. I keep wondering how these people can be doing this given the economic situation everywhere. There are alot of new cars on the road too. We'll see how it goes in the future. I am preparing for the worst but most people here are oblivious to what's happening. I deliver post and talk to many people in town and they are clueless.

Technically gold has not hit an all-time high. Back in the 1980's it was at around $860, which in today's dollars would be equal to $2200, inflation adjusted. Gold still has a long way to go.

There are many reasons for the continuation of this war; oil for obvious reasons. To destabilize the region to align systems in this likely order(?); establish a military presence creating social impacts. To establish communication, transportation, (re)education, and restructure their infrastructure eventually. Also, for Russia, and I believe Israel's long term interest. Of course other countries will likely benefit from this war somehow. I would say any war at this point are for global reasons.
