Agree it sucks that the rainforest is beeing cut down but fact is that there have never been as much forest in the world as it is today. In the northern hemisphere, forest that is regrown after beeing cut contains lots more biological material (meaning it takes up more CO2...) than before. The rainforest cannot match the taiga in dealing with CO2...

@libbern Northern temperate forests rely on the seasons for regeneration. the winter season is a time for the forest to conserve energy for future growth. tropical rainforests do not have these climactic mechanisms and actually rely on constant warmth and humidity and rain forest trees actually trigger the rain to fall. tropical forests are being replaced by plantations for bio-fuel and not being allowed to regenerate unlike its northern forest counterparts..

If CO2 production from respiration = CO2 consumption there should be minimal change to CO2 concentration--significant only over millions of years. Since CO2 concentration is drastically increasing this must mean we are increasing production artificially and/or decreasing consumption.

The change is so drastic over a small period of time that factors other than breathing must be far more significant than breathing.

Listen up guys I'm a climate scientist and I do alot of diving in the Muff regions. It's awful what's happening out there. Where there was once lush hairy grasses now it's as if the whole haven was shaved. Terrible, truly terrible.
