Although i am into harder music, Disturbed will always be number 1 to me.

I grew up listening to them and their music helped me through some rough times. The show that i went to a couple days ago was amazing.

I respect their music and their fans, however, I don't really understand WHAT is so great about them that all of the people that I talk to who like Disturbed potray?

To me, their another band who is very famous and makes good metal music. That's about it.

bro, let me give same reasoning here:

first, most people who love disturbed's music, love because they feel they relate to the song through the lyrics and by the mood in the music for that content.

second, there are those who simply like the performance, with great transitions, add-ons, and what nots..

but for the most part. Disturbed is straight out high quality .. and they are doing great..

i don't see what point you are trying to proove since you said you respect them...but ok..
