I think door-holding ought to be a gender-neutral courtesy. Not just for men to do for women but for whoever happens to be opening a door for whoever happens to be a little ways behind.
I personally get a little annoyed with men who dash ahead of me or wrench the door out of my hands and usher me in like a sheep. By then it's not charming so much as abrupt and a little awkward.
Might as well just let whoever has the door get it rather than turning it into a strict gender role.
My dad still has 'common' courtasy. when i go places with him, he holds open the door for others, and they are "aww thank you". thank god they are, i would hate to see him pissed by some person who just cant take a simple favor. and he is always respectful, why is the world not like this anymore??? just cause we have fancy technology, we must forget our manners, apparently!! gosh, to all the pple who still have manners, give my comment a thumbs up.
@Guadie7 ... It's still like that here in the Florida keys... I live in Marathon, and when I was out running errands today, I held a door open for somebody 3 times and had someone ELSE hold a door open for me 4 times. It's all about 'Pass it forward'.

0.0...I would like a guy to hold open a door for me for once...and please let it not be a wierdo...-_-
There's a difference between being a feminist and asserting yourself. I think all feminists should rip out thier own overies. They're far too ...overzealous. True there's nothing wrong with a woman wanting equal pay and a job, but feminists i believe lose something all women are born with when they act stupid like that.
@TheHTAA ;) I get what you're trying to say, but being a feminist does not mean being a femiNAZI, so telling them to pull out their ovaries is not only offensive, but comparable to telling completely "normal"/oppressed women to tear out theirs :)
@TheHTAA I suppose it's hard to distinct when every one of them are extreme :P I wouldn't know, I don't think I've met any feminazis - or feminists. Hell, the closest I've gotten to one, is when I told a guy to stop calling every girl in our class "bitches" after which he started ranting about me being a feminist. I didn't get it. I was just mad about being rutinely insulted, lol.
@TheHTAA exactly. People think that everything is great and equal just because we have officially introduced equal rights. But there are lots of "little things," like the way women are spoken about and treated - and men, for that matter, who can't even wear a skirt (honestly, it's just a piece of cloth, really). We have to be mindful of what we do and say so that the world can become a place where we aren't judged and forced into an unfitting role because of gender.
@Zarilen How to word this...I agree that there is no exuse for being a judgmental jerk. Even so, there are aspects i expect of people because of thier age and gender. A girl of 16 years old should know the difference between looking nice and being a hoochy and she is by deffinition a woman by the age of 12/13. A male of 16 years old is an example to everyone whether they're looking or not and is a man by the age of 12/13. no matter what they dress like, they are a man and should act like one.>.>
@TheHTAA and why does a man have to act like a man? and what does that entail? holding doors? tell me what you think the difference between a 13 year-old girl/woman and and 13-year-old boy/man is supposed to be :)
@Zarilen Holding doors is a politness many abuse. Some women like their men strong and controling; thats thier ideal guy. For me i like the strong silent types who also know how to have a little fun. One thing about the 13yo is that they both should know that they are growing & should make every effort to learn; from whatever rolemodle there is available to them. When a child is 12/13yo then they realize that mom and dad arn't perfect and they look to other pople to learn from....(tbc)
@Zarilen ...Thats their growing & molding time, but first they have to realize who they are & who they want to be. That takes time. The mistake many make is that they just say "I am who i am, whatever" & not try to learn anything or make anything of themselves. When they're adults they start scrambling tying to figure out what they want & how they should get it when that should have been what they were doing in middle school & high school.
@Meestahjay ...please tell me that wasn't the first thing to enter your head...-_- No, in fact i was talking about "Let the man be the head of the house, but the woman is the neck and can turn the head either which way she wants."
See, BITD (back in the day) women were the ones that ran the households. The man may have made the money and brought the bread home, but the woman was in control of the daily affairs of the home.
Why would anyone look down on that kind of power?*^^*
every time you encounter a feminazi be sure to reply with "bitch if i have the time to hold the door open for you, you have the time to not be a total cock sucking bitch who acts as though she's the supreme ruler of the world. so fuck off."
dude if foamy/j.i.m held the door open fr me id b happy and im a grl. i wish guys did that more often i mean shit, i do fr them. i also give up my seat to sombody pregnant or carrying shit or help older ppl or disabled ppl carry stuff.
im nt saying this bc i want a grl scout badge or good karma, im saying it bc that kind of stuff used to b commen sence and showed u wernt an idiot frm a crap family that nvr taught u manners.
now if i do those things ppl look at me like im some kinda freak.
I still open the door for people, but they are so stupid and idiot like that they'll grab the door out of my hand and shut it before I can go inside! And the worst part it's outside of school during winter when I left my jacket at home! They say "well you can open it back up!" well I can't really when their fat body weight is leaning on it to where I can't get it open unless I ram it with my body with a running start! They tick me off, them and their arrogance!
I don't deny I am a feminist, but really I appreciate the people who are still kind enough to open the door. I dont not take it as a comment on my strength or ability to open a fricken door. I mean really? I will open the door for anyone behind me, elderly, or disabled. It's just nice and I expect that same courtesy from anyone else with a brain. I will not yell at you. Please do not let the door slam my face.
personally, i like it when people hold the door open for me, and i like to hold it open for other people too. i'm a woman, and i'm comfortable with it. i'm not a femminist..... just confidant in my abilities as a human being and as a woman
@Chise37 If you don't want to be associated with the man-hating lesbians, don't call them by a term that so closely resembles your own. Instead, call them by the proper term: "Misandrists" (the female counterpart of Misogynists)
@Chise37 So you are the traditional feminist? As in the one that truly stands for and supports equal treatment between both sexes as opposed to being an uppity, hypocritical bitch who does nothing with her life outside of emasculating men due to having penis envy? If that is so, then more power to you. It is a shame that very few reasonable feminist women like you exist anymore. Instead we now get the corrupt, stereotypical feminazi...nevermind.
@AggroVolken Yes, I really do believe in equality for both sexes. I want men to be respected as humans like everyone else, too. They're not all sex-crazed pigs. And we women aren't all nagging and weight obsessed. We're all here, and we're all equal.
@ExtremeRulez13 Same. I especially hate it when you open the door for people and they barely glance at you. I know we should do things out of kindness and not expect anything in return, but jeez. It's amazing how some people lack the ability to say "thank you". >_>
@kipkayify Exactly. It just shows how much people give a shit about stuff that goes on around them when they can't even say two fucking words of gratitude.
i saw a baby bridgade leaving a car and the mom left and left the baby in the car then it caught on fire luckily the baby was safe despite being surrounded by fire power of foamy but that was cause she left a lit cigar in the car.
Another reason why a feminist shouldn't make such a big deal about door holding is because a guy can't help it if the person behind him happens to be a woman when he decides to hold the door open just because she also happens to be literally a foot or less away. He also can't help it if he happens to be a guy. I hold doors open all the time for both men and women n on occasion someone does it for me. sometimes a guy too and I nvr complained.
If a feminist really gets offended by a man holding the door for her (just because she's behind him) she should slow down or pretend to stop and do something. He won't hold the door forever. Win-Win! He gets "credit" for trying to be nice and she gets to open the door for herself.
foamy if only u lived where i lived ppl hold doors for ppl and any mothers with a baby if they r blocking they way they usually move if they see u coming and they look after their babys :) i live in a nice place
This is very true. I find it ridiculous how on my way home from school, on a narrow pavement by a PACKED MAIN ROAD all the mothers with their little kids and strollers have total disregard for high school students coming their way. No, you're expected to WALK on the ROAD because of course it would be totally unacceptable to not bar the streets like some buggy barricade leaving no space at all for-
Last time I was in Texas, I was in a bar and the staff was so considerate. They held the door open for me as they "escorted" me out. (They even kept an eye on me until my cab arrived. I miss the civility of the South...)
Yeah, that kind of sounded sarcastic... Believe it or not, it wasn't meant to be. Guess I've listened to too much Foamy today. haha!
@314shamrock Try spending some time in places in the north other than Manhattan. So many southerners spend a weekend in the city, then spend the rest of their lives complaining that everyone in the north is rude. New York City is not the standard for courtesy in the north!
I have been living in Iowa for the past 5 years and Northerners (so far) have not been so rude, but more sneaky bastards here than anywhere else I've lived. I've even told my girlfriend that I'd rather be broke and move back South than to stick around up here and end up like these people. I respect rude people, at least they're honest. It's the "lie to my face while stabbing me in the back" type I can't stand.
@TheK9fanatic Yeah, I'm not coming to rural Texas; I like living in a place where I'm legally allowed to be gay without being beaten to death by men in cowboy hats.
@cyanmanta Okay, but don't expect me to go to a place where people base their opinions based on where you live. "rural" merely means less urban, but "ignorant" applies to everyone. Have a nice day :)
I've actually found more people holding doors open than in a long time. It could be because I walk with a cane and a limp now, but still it's kind of refreshing to see random polite acts.
i hold the door open all the time.... i never get a thank you, or they ask what's wrong with me when i'm at school and i hold the door open for all the people who walk out of the assembly.
I agree with foams here he is right on the subject. and the oblivious mothers totally XD
I fucking HATE when im on a god damn bus and theres a fucking baby brigader blocking the fucking exit.... the other day there were 2 on one bus.... I got out and had to wait for the next fuckin one....cause it was so packed
Exactly. I can't just assume one reaction over the other when I'm holding the door open for a female stranger. I'd say most women are grateful when anyone holds the door open for them, whether it be a man or a woman. I do it out of courtesy for both genders. It shouldn't be taken offensively by anyone, let alone a woman with a bunch of groceries. I've never met a man who was chivalrous because they thought women were weak and couldn't take care of themselves.
when i was sixteen id hold the door open for everyone, then this black guy decided i was being racist by holding the door open for him, as if i was implying he couldnt do it himself, i dont know what he was thinkin. but this is basically how it happened.
me:*holding door open*
him:"why you holdin the door white boy"
me:(knowing the door is on a gravity hinge....) *lifts the door off the hinge and slammed it on his foot.* "its called common courtesy @rsehole"
I hold the door for people all the time, and I just love to open them for old people while I'm wearing a rock shirt, it makes me wonder what they think.
I hate Faminazis. Hold the door open for them out of kindness and courtesy, they get insulted. Don't hold the door open for them, they call you discourteous and get insulted. Lose-Lose situation when it comes to them.
@AggroVolken My thoughts exactly. This comment is going in my next youtube video: "Youtube's greatest anti-feminist quotes!", if that's okay with you.
I get up and open a door for older people when most of these fuckers sit there and watch some guy in a walker try to open a fucking heavy ass door for a diner, and what do they do? go back to eating.... fucking self centered assholes cant get up to help someone anymore.
@TomQuoVadis The author of that quote needs to remember that in general, women DO earn equal pay for equal work now. The wage gap is due to the fact that many women still refuse to do the more repulsive, degrading, and disgusting jobs (i.e. the ones men are more likely to be willing to do). A woman working as a housekeeper in a hotel does not get paid the same as a man who works at a sewage treatment plant; a woman who works at a sewage treatment plant, however, does.
I opened a door for some person, then they purposely went through the other one, laughed went to their friend looked back at me high fived in some sort of accomplishment by defeating my devious attempt at opening the door being polite, and went on their way.
I still hold doors open. Because I'm a gentleman and I'm also fully convinced the day I stop will be the day my parents find me, slit my throat in my sleep, and then say "It was a tragedy that someone killed our boy." at the funeral.
there is noting worse than having the entire aile blocked by a double wide jogging stroller this evil device is three times the size of a regular shopping cart
This is unrelated but you know how you should always respect the elderly? Well, the ironic thing is that when a old person comes bumping into you by accident without saying "excuse me" is rude enough. Especially if they're old enough to know common sense and manners... But what can you do...? It's the world.
@starwarsfan651 I thought you said for a second there "I hold open doors for people since I am strong enough to throw one at them" I was like HOLY SHIT?! lol
I also can't stand when you hold the door for someone from a (small) distance and they take FOREVER to get to it!!! If you see me holding the door, WALK THE F*CK THROUGH IT!!!
i hold doors for everybody. i even go out of my way to do that. and i really do appreciate it when men open doors for me. but i like getting there first to emasculate them XD
I always hold the door open for others, it's just common courtesy. Thank god Foamy is in one of those nice guy categories unlike some men.

There's a difference between being a feminist and asserting yourself. I think all feminists should rip out thier own overies. They're far too ...overzealous. True there's nothing wrong with a woman wanting equal pay and a job, but feminists i believe lose something all women are born with when they act stupid like that.
Its called the art of manipulation~ (hahaha)
TheHTAA 1 month ago
@TheHTAA ;) I get what you're trying to say, but being a feminist does not mean being a femiNAZI, so telling them to pull out their ovaries is not only offensive, but comparable to telling completely "normal"/oppressed women to tear out theirs :)
Zarilen 1 month ago
@Zarilen Ah, got it. FemiNazi then~*^^* Though in my town there's hardly a difference.-_-;;
TheHTAA 1 month ago
@TheHTAA I suppose it's hard to distinct when every one of them are extreme :P I wouldn't know, I don't think I've met any feminazis - or feminists. Hell, the closest I've gotten to one, is when I told a guy to stop calling every girl in our class "bitches" after which he started ranting about me being a feminist. I didn't get it. I was just mad about being rutinely insulted, lol.
Zarilen 1 month ago
@Zarilen *^^* Thank you for telling that louse that. Its not feministic at all, but it has everything to do with respect.
TheHTAA 1 month ago
@TheHTAA exactly. People think that everything is great and equal just because we have officially introduced equal rights. But there are lots of "little things," like the way women are spoken about and treated - and men, for that matter, who can't even wear a skirt (honestly, it's just a piece of cloth, really). We have to be mindful of what we do and say so that the world can become a place where we aren't judged and forced into an unfitting role because of gender.
Zarilen 1 month ago
@Zarilen How to word this...I agree that there is no exuse for being a judgmental jerk. Even so, there are aspects i expect of people because of thier age and gender. A girl of 16 years old should know the difference between looking nice and being a hoochy and she is by deffinition a woman by the age of 12/13. A male of 16 years old is an example to everyone whether they're looking or not and is a man by the age of 12/13. no matter what they dress like, they are a man and should act like one.>.>
TheHTAA 1 month ago
@TheHTAA and why does a man have to act like a man? and what does that entail? holding doors? tell me what you think the difference between a 13 year-old girl/woman and and 13-year-old boy/man is supposed to be :)
Zarilen 1 month ago
@Zarilen Holding doors is a politness many abuse. Some women like their men strong and controling; thats thier ideal guy. For me i like the strong silent types who also know how to have a little fun. One thing about the 13yo is that they both should know that they are growing & should make every effort to learn; from whatever rolemodle there is available to them. When a child is 12/13yo then they realize that mom and dad arn't perfect and they look to other pople to learn from....(tbc)
TheHTAA 1 month ago
@Zarilen ...Thats their growing & molding time, but first they have to realize who they are & who they want to be. That takes time. The mistake many make is that they just say "I am who i am, whatever" & not try to learn anything or make anything of themselves. When they're adults they start scrambling tying to figure out what they want & how they should get it when that should have been what they were doing in middle school & high school.

@Zarilen Some Quotes:
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit."-Aritotle
"I am what i am today because of the choices I made yesterday."-?
"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them."-Einstein
"People can alter their lives by altering their attitudes."-?
"While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, the other is busy making mistakes and becoming superior."-?

@TheHTAA art of manipulation? like being a stripper? pure male objectification (im ok with that, we have it coming).
Meestahjay 1 month ago
@Meestahjay ...please tell me that wasn't the first thing to enter your head...-_- No, in fact i was talking about "Let the man be the head of the house, but the woman is the neck and can turn the head either which way she wants."
See, BITD (back in the day) women were the ones that ran the households. The man may have made the money and brought the bread home, but the woman was in control of the daily affairs of the home.
Why would anyone look down on that kind of power?*^^*

Chise37 2 months ago 96
@Chise37 yep....
TheMagnificentPony 1 month ago
@Chise37 If you don't want to be associated with the man-hating lesbians, don't call them by a term that so closely resembles your own. Instead, call them by the proper term: "Misandrists" (the female counterpart of Misogynists)
v1de0gamr 1 month ago
@Chise37 So you are the traditional feminist? As in the one that truly stands for and supports equal treatment between both sexes as opposed to being an uppity, hypocritical bitch who does nothing with her life outside of emasculating men due to having penis envy? If that is so, then more power to you. It is a shame that very few reasonable feminist women like you exist anymore. Instead we now get the corrupt, stereotypical feminazi...nevermind.
AggroVolken 1 month ago
@AggroVolken Yes, I really do believe in equality for both sexes. I want men to be respected as humans like everyone else, too. They're not all sex-crazed pigs. And we women aren't all nagging and weight obsessed. We're all here, and we're all equal.

feminists are usually the beastly ugly ones.
Craziguy33 2 months ago
Another reason why a feminist shouldn't make such a big deal about door holding is because a guy can't help it if the person behind him happens to be a woman when he decides to hold the door open just because she also happens to be literally a foot or less away. He also can't help it if he happens to be a guy. I hold doors open all the time for both men and women n on occasion someone does it for me. sometimes a guy too and I nvr complained.
Purplelady0790 2 months ago
@Purplelady0790
If a feminist really gets offended by a man holding the door for her (just because she's behind him) she should slow down or pretend to stop and do something. He won't hold the door forever. Win-Win! He gets "credit" for trying to be nice and she gets to open the door for herself.
I love lateral thinking... *grin*

This is very true. I find it ridiculous how on my way home from school, on a narrow pavement by a PACKED MAIN ROAD all the mothers with their little kids and strollers have total disregard for high school students coming their way. No, you're expected to WALK on the ROAD because of course it would be totally unacceptable to not bar the streets like some buggy barricade leaving no space at all for-
Right. I'm ranting now. Better stop.

Come to rural Texas, doors are sometimes held open for you even if yu're not using that door!
TheK9fanatic 2 months ago
@TheK9fanatic
Guess I've listened to too much Foamy today. haha!
314shamrock 2 months ago
@314shamrock Try spending some time in places in the north other than Manhattan. So many southerners spend a weekend in the city, then spend the rest of their lives complaining that everyone in the north is rude. New York City is not the standard for courtesy in the north!
cyanmanta 2 months ago
@cyanmanta
314shamrock 2 months ago
@TheK9fanatic Come to rural New York State and you'll get the same treatment. Despite what southerners claim, courtesy is not a north/south thing.
cyanmanta 2 months ago
@TheK9fanatic Yeah, I'm not coming to rural Texas; I like living in a place where I'm legally allowed to be gay without being beaten to death by men in cowboy hats.
cyanmanta 3 weeks ago
@cyanmanta Okay, but don't expect me to go to a place where people base their opinions based on where you live. "rural" merely means less urban, but "ignorant" applies to everyone. Have a nice day :)

@Kawiia17

A nice quote that I don't know who to attribute to:
"Feminism is about equal work for equal pay, not women should be superior and men should apologize for having penises."
TomQuoVadis 3 months ago 4
@TomQuoVadis The author of that quote needs to remember that in general, women DO earn equal pay for equal work now. The wage gap is due to the fact that many women still refuse to do the more repulsive, degrading, and disgusting jobs (i.e. the ones men are more likely to be willing to do). A woman working as a housekeeper in a hotel does not get paid the same as a man who works at a sewage treatment plant; a woman who works at a sewage treatment plant, however, does.
