@mangamachine i personally started off working on cartwheeling with one hand, then stopping myself midwheel........ maybe that's unorthodox and will get you killed. who knows. it's an adventure.
A handstand on one hand isn´t something that takes too much imagination to come up with, man.
It was probably done before capoeira even existed, by european acrobats or circus performers and asian martial artists. It´s just a handstand with one hand, nothing too innovative.
PS: try holding that "handstand on one hand" a little more, at this stage it looks like an aborted cartwheel.
thats what it is; an aborted cartwheel in the game of capoeira someone might expect a cartwheel (as they are used alot) but instead of following through theyd stop halfway and kick
No, break (the correct name of what you call "Breakdance", which was the term the media gave to it when it hit the mainstream in the early 80´s) wasn´t influenced by capoeira at all. You can check the b.boy documentary "The Freshest Kids" where old school b.boys who were there when it all began actually say they hadn´t seen any capoeirista when they started breakin´.
negativa au quebra esphina au olympica calypsto etc are all the same as breakdancing movments yet the above were created hundreds of years ago in another country and the bboyin moves were created less than 30 in major us cities...doesnt sound right to me
Seriously man I don't think capoeiristas were the first in history to think about an aborted cartwheel or a one handed handstand... I mean they're pretty simple moves.
ok! but breakin' has another context, it's in the context of a set, while dancing to funk music. What I'm trying to say is that I respect capoeira, but I hate that some (not all) capoeiristas try to credit themselves for breakin' saying it comes from capoeira, etc. It's not true!
