  • I'm still working on getting this down.

  • nice, but work on your ginga man

    axé...paz é um abraço

  • This is called in capoeira "au batido" what means beated au.. thats all for now jeje axe capoeira! Est. Piraça, Anaue capoeira

  • Hehe thats awesome, how did you do that?

  • is easier to practise it with someone else who holds your other hand, so its easier for you to keep the balance!

  • Hehe thanks man! =)

  • hey man. i've always been turning my torso over so that my stomach is facing the ground.

would trying to think about getting my back to face the ground help me out with this?..

  • @mangamachine i personally started off working on cartwheeling with one hand, then stopping myself midwheel........ maybe that's unorthodox and will get you killed. who knows. it's an adventure.

  • ah vamos fala em port , deixe q os gringo aprendao .... eles nunca falam port ¬¬

  • this is called AU BATIDO, meaning "kicking au" (kind of) - and au is cartwheel

    AU AMaZONAS iz something different

    ;)

  • A handstand on one hand isn´t something that takes too much imagination to come up with, man.

It was probably done before capoeira even existed, by european acrobats or circus performers and asian martial artists. It´s just a handstand with one hand, nothing too innovative.

PS: try holding that "handstand on one hand" a little more, at this stage it looks like an aborted cartwheel.

  • it`s not a 1 handed handstand, it`s not meant to be prolonged.

and yeah, au batido in tricking.

  • thats what it is; an aborted cartwheel in the game of capoeira someone might expect a cartwheel (as they are used alot) but instead of following through theyd stop halfway and kick

  • No, break (the correct name of what you call "Breakdance", which was the term the media gave to it when it hit the mainstream in the early 80´s) wasn´t influenced by capoeira at all. You can check the b.boy documentary "The Freshest Kids" where old school b.boys who were there when it all began actually say they hadn´t seen any capoeirista when they started breakin´.

  • negativa au quebra esphina au olympica calypsto etc are all the same as breakdancing movments yet the above were created hundreds of years ago in another country and the bboyin moves were created less than 30 in major us cities...doesnt sound right to me

  • Seriously man I don't think capoeiristas were the first in history to think about an aborted cartwheel or a one handed handstand... I mean they're pretty simple moves.

  • no they probably did not think of the first; but they were the first to think of tem in the context they were used

  • ok! but breakin' has another context, it's in the context of a set, while dancing to funk music. What I'm trying to say is that I respect capoeira, but I hate that some (not all) capoeiristas try to credit themselves for breakin' saying it comes from capoeira, etc. It's not true!

    Take care man!

  • thats an l kick or al batido or something
