I love Pacino in this scene. The way he's so calm and takes his time when he says "I want you to think very carefully about what you say to me" and how he uses his gun to point to the picture. Best piece of acting in the movie IMO.
Pacino's body language along with the sound of his leather jacket every time he moves really give this scene (played inside a car) some real kinetic tension. Thanks for posting this. I'd forgotten how great a movie this is.
when i saw the gun i thought lefty was about to kill donnie but when he pointed the gun to his head, that broke my heart. he REALY trusted donnie. how much it hurts when u trust someone than suddenly u smell something fishy.

this film is good but the end isnt accurate if left had any idea that donnie was an agent he wouldnt have hesitated to have him killed or have least told sonny
LIAM- i think he was going to kill him. remember he said "did i say you was a rat? ... i never said you waz a rat..i'm your best friend" .. think back when he said that you get sent for.. "it's your best friend that does it" he had plans to kill him but he wanted him to finish the job. maybe lay them both out... double kill.
hahaha. liam does have a point though. we have to remember we're watching a movie, and in a movie everything is open to questioning and interpretation. for instance, lefty pulls his gun and uses it to point at the boat. it's my opinion that he did that to build tension in the movie - cut to his mention on the dock that 'i'm your best friend'. he knows. both of the feds was going to get a bullet in the ear, like dominoes.
however, in reality, lefty would've been all smiles until the hammer dropped. there wouldn't have been any tension. that's why it's your best friend that does it: they get you well within your comfort zone.
That was the most touching part. Al Pacino is one of the greatest in the movie history. Just look at his intimate face after sayin' "If you're a rat..." Man that was really touching, he rules.
