Elliott had a lot more confidence by the time this show was filmed - he'd already been kicked off and I think his nerves didn't take hold of him. He does this song justice. I don't remember any of the other performances from this finale except his. (And I was a Taylor fan!)

THAT is what you call a vocal "MASTERCLASS".. I have given vocal lessons for 20 years and Elliot Yamin is the most talented singer..Male OR Female that has ever graced American. He lost because of poor song selection from Paula...and his own poor choice of an obscure Ray Charles song.. He sang them both well...but the teens and younger generation have never heard that song.. Had he sung a HOUSE is not a HOME or Ordinary People by John Legend...he would have won easily.

This is one of the reasons season 5 was the best and had the most talent out of any of the seasons. Literally everyone in that season was talented and worth voting for. Everything was perfect in that season, except taylor... which is the only reason why there are bad reviews about it or people have said its the worst season.

I too agree that Elliot is probably the BEST cover artiste of all time on AI. And yes he shd just do covers, because, apart from the disastrous Open Arms, he aced every single Stevie, Jarreau, Hathaway and Vandross tune. His original solo album was awful - boring hiphop stuff most synths and sequencers can produce in a few days. Stick to covers, Mr Yamin - you are the best.

It's comical now to see how much more talented Elliot and Daughtry were than the rest of the back-esp. Taylor and "The Kat" Kat is a hottie but can't hold a candle to those two vocally and c'mon, be honest Taylor is probably the worst AI champ ever. (Not a Fantasia fan either, but she is Billie Holliday next to that goofball!) Even Kelly Pickler has carved out an OK career, for Pete's sake. Elliot should cover "House is not a home".
