i recon if you shot those little lights seperately from your main action you could use a luma key to get rid of the cables that hold them together and only have the lights showing. it would be tricky to match the movement and to key it properly but it could be worth a shot!
What dolly are you using btw? Great lighting set up, what lights are you using to create the streaks in the back? and exactly which streak's plugin are you using? Thanks for the awesome videos!

Hi, I saw your tutorial, and I liked the effects you used to enhance the life of the video. I have a question. How many mm was the streak filter you used in the video, and can I get that same effect on a photograph?
@polcan99 One thing I don't understand is when you say "bring down the exposure" to compensate for the heavy lighting, on a Canon 7D, what would you bring down? The ISO? The Aperture? Both? I keep the shutter speed at 50 or 60 depending on whether I'm shooting 24fps or 30fps. And as far as I know there's no such "exposure" setting that I know of. Please advise. Thank you!

Hi, polcan99. I was inspired by your using of light streak and placing small lights close to the lens. Please check out my video because i used both technique you showed us in your video here. Please check it out and gimme some tips to make my video better. thanks
I'm in the market for a streak filter, was gonna go with the Optefex but the Tiffen looks great here. You said you used a 3mm one? I'm surprised at how pronounced the streaks are. I was thinking about getting a 1mm one... is the light 'fatter' and does it not stretch as far? I like the 'stretch' more than anything... ideally, I'm going for that 'Star Trek' look where the streak is fat and stretches across the frame nicely.
First of all I want to say I've watched at least 10 of your tutorials and I've found them all EXTREMELY helpful! I was wondering if I could ask you a specific question about the camera I just bought which as a Nikon D3100. At 3:40 I see how you adjust the exposure once you light the bright lights, however I'm not exactly sure how to adjust this on my camera without closing the Aperture. I want to keep the background out of focus. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
@DesmondDennis Check out my channel, click on the Tutorials playlist, and then watch the two videos about color correction. They're number 6 and 7. I show exactly how I do it in premiere, which has the exact same tools as after effects.

I still don't understand how you sing when you're being filmed. Do you play the song in the background and then capture the shot with yourself lipsyncing and then just fine tune it when you upload it onto your computer? Nobody seems to cover the absolute basics
At 5:57, how do u make the streaks on the lights?? Do you use a program or a lens because i was looking for streak lenses and couldn't find any... can you help me??? plz
@ShutdownEntVIDS That's done using a filter you put infront of your camera's lens... check out the link in the description of this video for the exact same filter i used, that you can buy online. I'm not the one selling it so I dont set the price, I heard you can find them cheaper in other places so if you find a better deal then let me know so I can also post that link. Thnx!
Make sure you have a computer capable of editing/supporting DSLR footage. Once footage is captured and its time to edit, you have two options.....either use software that natively supports dslr footage sush as Premiere Pro CS5 or you must use 3rd party software to convert your footage to something more managable.
@Iliqnozaurus What effects? There are no special effects in this video. it's all done in camera. If you're asking about the streaks, it s done with a filter you put on your camera... check out the link in the description of the video. Thnx!
so just like start recording video before playing the music for the artist to sing too.. and play the beep at some point between starting recording and playing the audio back?
hey i got another question for you.. i just recently made my music video.. and i had such a hard time syncing the audio perfect with the video.. are there any tips or anything you can tell me to help me out so my hair doesnt start to fall out again!
@MargenProductions sure! just use a distinctive beep or tone at the start of your video so u can easly synch the video up to that... like most people do when shooting films and they use a clapper board to synch the audio and video later on.
Great tutorial, some clever techniques, thanks for sharing , I dig your teaching and lighting style.:))

Yes, you can shoot with 500D aka t1i.
Just make sure to keep a few things in mind.
Make sure you have a computer capable of editing/supporting DSLR footage. Once footage is captured and its time to edit, you have two options.....either use software that natively supports dslr footage sush as Premiere Pro CS5 or you must use 3rd party software to convert your footage to something more managable.

with which program you put the effects ?

@Iliqnozaurus What effects? There are no special effects in this video. it's all done in camera. If you're asking about the streaks, it s done with a filter you put on your camera... check out the link in the description of the video. Thnx!

@Stepanskiy23 you'll want to get the 550d, that camera is awesome. 500d is only slightly less expensive and very limited in video options

@FlyinangeLproduction Sure! Check out the music video I did for JReyez using the Canon 7D which is the exact same quality as the 550d

hey i got another question for you.. i just recently made my music video.. and i had such a hard time syncing the audio perfect with the video.. are there any tips or anything you can tell me to help me out so my hair doesnt start to fall out again!
MargenProductions 1 year ago
@MargenProductions sure! just use a distinctive beep or tone at the start of your video so u can easly synch the video up to that... like most people do when shooting films and they use a clapper board to synch the audio and video later on.
