All right...it is torture. Can we agree that there are different degrees of torture? Would you say waterboarding is more humane, and has less after effects than, say...having your fingernails pulled out? Electric shock to your genitals? A power drill used to drill holes in your arms and legs? An electrified rod inserted in your anus?
you guys dont understand that this is not waterboarding. In real life the subject is tied down by his legs, arms, and head to a platform hanging upside down. He is then dropped into a tank of water and only after he stops quailing is he lifted out. He is then revived and he process is repeated as many tomes as they like.
@normalguyhere Ohhhh! This isn't real waterboarding? Gee guys, thanks. I was under the impression that we had recreated a Gitmo torture chamber in my bathroom. Thank goodness you guys are here to set the issue straight.
@AngryDuck9 hes right this isnt waterboarding, its placing a towel over your face and putting water on it. part of the waterboarding torture is to be tied down to make the victim feel helpless. if you want to test the effects of watrboarding do it the right way or change the tittle to Placing a Towel Over Your Head and Pouring Water on it Experiment.
man you lasted 2 second among friends in the wrong positon, without beeing tied down and previously brooken down and garanteed that you were in control all the time. It was a good intended experiment but dosent hold up as evidence 4 any thing. If you retry it be careful, you could die.
That doesn't look like real waterboarding but are you saying having a friend pour water over your face for a couple seconds is kinda torture but not effective torture or what?
Yeah we realize that a bathtub isnt Guantanamo Bay. But we wanted to see for ourselves how bad it is. And its pretty bad. Going into it I was of the opinion that its torture, coming out of it I was of the opinion that it sucks, but its not torture. If getting water up your nose and feeling like maybe youre gonna drown for a few seconds is gonna save lives then I say go for it. The problem then is making sure to use something like this on the right person. Not just any Muslim the government sees.
No, not at all. Provided that the people detaining the Americans had a good reason for doing so. The "torture" itself isnt where the problem lies in my opinion. Its on who its used and why.
If you become a spy, or a terrorist, or affiliate with terrorists, you need to expect to be caught, and probably tortured. And all Im saying is that if I was going to be tortured, I would much prefer getting some water up my nose and throat than getting my arms pulled out of socket or some of the other methods Im sure we dont know about. And that goes for anyone, I dont feel that Americans in other countries who are caught deserve any better treatment than the people in Guantanamo Bay.
@AngryDuck9 If your bitching about what went down in Guantanamo bay....shut up with it.
I'd rather be stuck in the dark G, then in some cave in Afghanistan, likely said, I would rather have my arms pulled out of my sockets, then some of the other things that goes on over there.
As for who should be overseeing these punishments. Who knows? Ideally it wouldnt happen. But it does and it will continue. No one is ever really qualified to decide the fate of another human being. Hopefully some sort of black and white method is used. But Im sure there isnt. Also what does waterboarding have to do with Imperialism?
Lol, do you really think they are going to stop after a few seconds if the terrorist says so? It goes on and on in real life. Besides, you were in a wrong position.
is this legal?

So you would have no problem with waterboarding being used on Americans in the custody of other countries?

lol, who would would determine a "good reason"?
Even in our own country there seems to have been no court overseeing it.
Ever wonder why people see the US as imperialists? this is a good example :(
But hey, everyone else will follow our standard of when it's ok when they have our spies or soldiers in custody right?

@Paramite84 As I said before, My bathtub is not GTMO. I understand that. It was merely an experiment to see what it feels like.
