A CIA report recommended against military intervention for which the planet should be grateful as that could have easily escalated into a nuclear war. Khrushchev was a loony and much less was enough to trigger the CMC in 1962. When Eisenhower in his SOTUA called on the Congress to regularize the status of Hungarian refugees Khrushchev said that's "rather in the nature of the support that the rope gives to a hanged man."

Hát igen, meg ha tudnánk is, hogy miről beszélünk. A déli harangszó nem a nándorfehérvári győzelem miatt szól, ugyanis már III. Calixtus rendelkezett a harangozásról, majd VI. Sándor pápa véglegesítette , hogy délben szóljanak a harangok. A célja pedig az volt, hogy imádkozzanak azokért akik a törökök ellen mentek a háborúba, nem pedig a diadal emlékét hirdeti. (Ez ráadásul Hahner Péter a Pécsi Tudományegyetem tanszékvezető professzora állítása, aki valljuk be, talán érthet hozzá egy kicsit).

@kisjakab Tévedés! III. Calixtus 1456.VI.29-én adta ki a Cum his superioribus annis kezdetű bulláját, amit maga Guttenberg nyomtatott ki Mainzban. Ebben különleges bűnbocsánatot ígért mindazoknak,akik imáikkal segítik a "kereszteseket". A harangozás az imára hívás jele volt és kezdetben 3 és 6 óra között volt. Csak 1501-ben rendelte el véglegesen VI. Sándor a déli harangszót. Ergo, eredetileg a déli harangszó nem a diadal miatt szólt.

Slavs and austrians should show more respect towards magyars. My understanding is that there were also MANY jews in the Austro-Hungarian army.

I'd like to remind that in World War II Hungary was a Nazi ally and its troops participated in the occupation of the Soviet Union. There were three Hungarian SS divisions. So don't try to depict Hungary as a poor victim of Soviet aggression.
