Kirk has always nailed his solos. This is back when Lars cared about playing drums the right way is more like it. He has been pretty good on the World Magnetic Tour, but until then he was off quite a bit. He still doesn't play the double bass on One very well, and has totally lowered the volume and snap sound of his bass drums. I'm sure it is so people can't hear how bad he.
