I'm agnostic and I don't like religious lyrics much, but I still love Dustin's songwriting. Despite many biblical references, it can still be interpreted very universally. Take this song - everyone needs a place to rest their heads, no matter if it means being surrounded by people you love or if it's about faith in anything. It inspires me to be a better man - someone, who's able to take someone elses burden for a while, so maybe someday they will return the favour. Thank you very much, guys!
@matzSVK thats true you can interpret it like that but these guys are talking about the relief they experience in their lives through the Power of Christ! What you say makes sense maybe and sounds nice but personally speaking, nothing has ever compared to what i have found in Jesus. No relief is like being freed from your own shame. Just some advice. Hopefully i didnt come off as an offensive jerkk there, that wasn't my intention
@davapp9 No offence was taken. Perhaps you're right about the relief you speak of. But there are many ways of defeating your own inner demons. And I walk my own path. Yet I can enjoy Dustin's lyrics, because they're not some meaningless preaching. You can actually relate to them regardless of what you believe in. And - try taking someone elses burden once in a while. Only few feelings are better than what you feel when you look into somebody's grateful eyes :-)
Look, the song is ABOUT JESUS. 'Interpret' it all you want, the song will always BE about Jesus. You can't take a chicken and tell me it's a large pigeon. Dustin didn't write it so a bunch of assholes could argue that the song is really saying the exact opposite of what it was intended to say. He wrote it to show his faith in god and in a way, to worship god. So anyone who has the arrogance to say that they know the meaning of the lyrics better than the person who wrote them, is messed up.
@blynnhughes I so totally agree, the meaning of the song is none other than Jesus the Christ. Most of the lyrics were taken out from the Gospel and those that aint were the artists giving the song a little modern twist, which suits Christians like me just fine. The Christian message needs to be made relevant to our times as well as during Jesus' times. And before everyone starts arguing stupid things about the song, LISTEN to what it's saying, there is so much meaning in this song. It did for me
@blynnhughes yes the song may be about jesus. but that's just your interpretation. we all have a different perspective of everything that occurs. may i remind you, this is art. meant to trigger people's emotions. you may see a chicken, i may see a small dragon based on how ive been raised and what ive been exposed to throughout my life. that is what music does. everyone has their own connection. their own taste. this is why there isnt just one style of music, one instrument, one song.
@silentoceans311 the majority of thrice's songs have a christian message, if you like the music that's great too, but to interpret the lyrics as something other than christian is ignorant in my opinion especially for this song. Dustin is incapable of writing a bad song, and you should really do some research into what the songs actually mean.
@Bugeda100 of course. it may be obvious that he is referring to christian belief but even the reference can be interpreted in different levels. and lol. yea they're pretty good. i feel that same way about brand new. jesse lacey is just phenomenal.
im glad that they have changed their sound but still have kept a creative edge to their music, they never went corporate, always stayed unique. You have to love that in a band.
For those who "just want to listen to the music", you cannot fully appreciate the song without considering every aspect of it. This includes the lyrics and the intended meaning behind them. To throw this out simply because you don't care about God and don't want to hear about Him would be a denial of it's true meaning and an injustice to the song. So ignore it if you want but don't bag on others who embrace it. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest...
...Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matt 11:28-30 (NIV)
@martianmallow "You've been scourned at fine restaurants and kicked out of church", what does that tell you about self righteous christian assholes with a superiority complex, who sit in church and listen to fables about people helping, then spend the rest of their week selfishly guilt free.
@dewi981 I have to admit, as a Christian, I agree with you there. Christ told us to be humble, to help whoever is in need, be like the Samaritan and not the priest or levite. Unfortunately, there are many Christians who don't do it. Our Lord have said lip service and such ain't going to work with Him, and proving that we are His is not by what we say but what we do. And above all be true. I will admit I don't deserve the title "Christian", none of us really does, if you truly understand Christ.
@dewi981 Not entirely sure how that relates to my comment and there's quite a lot to your question but anyway... I know that Christians are not perfect people (just like everyone else) and the church is most certainly not perfect. Christians and "the church" make mistakes but the point is that Jesus is the one we follow, and not the church or other Christians. We often do a shoddy job of representing Him and that sucks. We are not perfect but He is.
@OCumulo Tbh i dont care for you comment, and i dont think anybody else does, why bring up such rubbish music on a commenst section of such a master piece
It would be naive to think you could enjoy this song without giving respect to the one who originally wrote the lyrics. Thanks to Christ for His words of wisdom and His promise of new life if we follow Him.
@onecrossonedeath there is a reason thrice isn't classified as a Christian band, its because they do not want to be pegged down, and have it define who they are as a band.
@onecrossonedeath Actually, it would be presumptuous to expect people who enjoy this song, from the bottom of their heart, to relate it to the same thing you do. "The one who originally wrote the lyrics" as you put it, is about as relevant as wether the egg or the chicken was there first. Words have meanings outside the ones they are given by YOU. Thanks to Thrice, for a heart-reaching song. Let's all learn the real lesson and give the weary a place to rest.
It's true your entitled to your own opinion, but you have obviously missed the point. The person who wrote this song and sang it has clearly gained some knowledge he intends to share with anyone with open ears and open hearts. The message is that if your tired, and your troubles are waying you down then you find rest, relief and love in Jesus Christ. Say what you want, but your just contridicting the author.
@emilymonroecna I do more than just admit to that. I'll outright proclaim that. I tell people about Thrice anytime I can. I've been listening to Thrice for quite some time. Calling them fantastic is not sufficient. Dustin is by far my favourite lyricist, Teppei is an amazing guitarist, Ed is no slouch on the bass (see Stare at the Sun for a single example), and Riley is not just a fantastic drummer, but his solo stuff is really quite good too.
@solololomon It's contradictory. That makes it fun. Just don't think to hard and you'll get it. lol also I was high when I posted that so I felt prophetic.
The Bible says not to argue theology or religion, but to present truth and let it speak for itself. Jesus is real, and He's saved me from a lot of crap and death (literally and spiritually) Jesus did heal the sick and raise the dead. The same power he had was given to us by Him in the great commission and the day of Pentecost....however yeah lets just enjoy a freakin sweet video, and a sick microphone!
@counterculturecc in many people (including myself) music has taken place where religion is supposed to fill.... so the subject of the songs is irrelevant just as the true meaning of anything in the bible is also irrelevant, its how you personally translate whatever is said/sang/played into your own life... that is the meaning of spirituality.... whether a band is christian or whatever doesn't matter.
I don't care if it's a religious song, I'm not religious, and I don't see a need to argue over whether there is a god or not, especially over youtube. We're all on this video to listen to Thrice, who I think are awesome if they're Christians or not.
Christianity is the stupidest thing anyone has ever come up with, let the non-christians interpret the music for themselves. Enough of the christian bullshit please.
i'd really like to see thrice doing a very very very crazy experimental video (e.g. like Portishead "The RIp") i think there would be great potential in that.
I absolutely enjoy their vids i'd really enjoy them pushing the edge too
@HellzChrist Your attempt at a witty bash on all religion was not funny in the slightest. If you're so skeptical about the Bible, why recognize Christ AND Hell in your own youtube name?
Good song, even though its about dying and going to rest in the earth. Hence why it was put on the earth album, its not a song with any sort of christian message behind it.
@acejesse13 you're wrong. Sorry, but its a concept album. There are lots of innuendos are there, but the definition is different. Either way, I'm done with this arguement, lets just enjoy the music.
Many of Dustin's songs are from the Scriptures, and many of them are from scholars/books/studies he's done... GK Chesterton, CS Lewis, and the Bible seem to be the biggest influences--I've spoken with him before... he's a Christian and quite a humble man.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I believe that our savior is a giant tampon. Can someone please help me get some bands to start playing songs about tampons and maybe we can write up a book and mass-produce it? Thank you!
why say that? Dustin believes there is a God, this song is taken right from Jesus' words... how do you know there is no God? and I am just wondering, not trying to trap you in wording.
@AgonyPlace dude, theres no need to be such a jerk. Just because you don't believe in a god doesn't mean you have the right to be a dick to those who do.
For all you who don't believe in God, why do you care what other people believe? We say God loves us and we're going to Heaven... So what? If there's no God, as you believe, then nothing at all really matters, does it?
@L30NlTU5 why do you care what others choose to believe? maybe they can find more reason in their lives without the ever present fear an omnipotent father figure in the sky.
@darknight0dc Think of it this way: If I'm right, then it makes all the difference what others believe. What everyone believes. If I'm wrong, then my ranting and banter will die along with me and the world will go on changelessly.
@L30NlTU5 whether you are right or wrong is irrelevant, you are certainly not going to convert anyone via Youtube, all you're accomplishing is alienating people and creating irritating "comment wars".
@darknight0dc Not so. Anyone who cares enough to reply obviously thought about what I said, and so I accomplished something. Whether I'm right or wrong is not irrelavent, it makes the biggest difference in the world. All I want from these comments I leave are for people to think about it, and whether in a great or small way, you have. If the comments you see irritate you, why do you look at the comments?
@L30NlTU5 I don't know why I look at the comments, probably because I am curious about what other people think about good music. but since that never seems to be the case in the comment section I'll stop looking.
@darknight0dc The Bible says not to argue theology or religion, but to present truth and let it speak for itself. Jesus is real, and He's saved me from a lot of crap and death (literally and spiritually) Jesus did heal the sick and raise the dead. The same power he had was given to us by Him in the great commission and the day of Pentecost....however yeah lets just enjoy a freakin sweet video, and a sick microphone!
here is a great idea lots stop talking about jesus and god and the devil and all that shit and watch this fucking great music video huh???? can you kids do that?....ok rock on
@Yeti642 You're just as childish as replying, there is no such thing as a mediator on the internet. This video is about walking hand in hand with Christ, if you listen to the lyrics they're straight up talking about the Bible. You insult this video by not talking about it, by not discussing it. Empathy is a terrible thing, don't fall any further into it.
@madman3247 With all due respect, I think (hope) you mean apathy. "Apathy is a terrible thing". Empathy is putting yourself into someone elses position and trying to feel what they feel - compassion. Empathy is a great thing. In fact, there isn't enough of it in this world. Apathy on the other hand is indifference, feeling nothing, an emotionless state of uncaring.... I hope you meant apathy...
i love all these songs and the religious meaning they have. i think religion is a great thing for man but i do not personally believe. it just cant get through to me. i have found more sense evolution backed up by science. nonetheless there is nothing wrong in believing it gives hope to the hopeless.
it takes more faith to believe in the many flaws of evolution than it does to believe the bible. u cant actually count all the holes and stretched truths in evolution as there r too many. the "theory" of evolution is just as much of a religion as Christianity
explain how the bible is a hole in itself. there is not 1 man has ever pointed out a human error within the bible. i read it cover to cover, old and new testament, 5 going on 6 times. i among many others KNOW the bible couldnt have been driven by any MANS knowledge. the book of revelation has foretold many of the occurrences which are happening today
It's a very common thing that is done by man, if you've read than you know that the explainations are very vague and not just straight to the point, fortune tellers do this, telling you very vague things that happen in everyones life, with some tweaking the same technic is applied here.
o yea cuz u know... the book of revelation has just predicted exact events and a specific order thousands of years ago, but its obviously just vague knowledge like what fortune tellers do.
u cant even give me a valid point, i call u out on something uve said and u throw in the towel. that is ur whole life, anytime som1 tried to open ur closed eyes u refuse them. u dont even listen to wat they have to say. im open to debate anything at anytime i have an open mind i have researched many theories and religions and i have found wat i was looking for. u on the other hand take the easy way out by strictly believing wat is told to u and never have to work to find answers yourself.
I spoke my mind and what i felt, whatever valid points it lacked is irrelevant, because after i've said whatever i want to say, i don't have to care.
And why should i? It's a arguement about a goddamn story book on a Thrice video, do you feel that i'm obligated to give you a thrilling arguement filled with scientific facts and prophets words? I'm not.
You know what i believe in? Living, because its what all humans do, and we should start focusing on that and not on a invisible man in the sky.
(C...King)So you believe in what you believe because you have done extensive research on the Bible and have come to the conclusion that the Bible is not something that you can believe in? Here are some scripture verses then, to remind you, that you would have read when reading the Bible to come to this conclusion.
Since what you believe in is "Living." Jesus had some things to say in regards to living. Verse 26 in Matthew 16 says this also..."What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"
Your intitled to your opinion, and you in no way made the implification that you were attacking, your defending what you believe and cudos to that.
I'm just stating that i'm alive, and look at things as either a waste of my time, or not at all.
And based on my interests and just simple nature, i don't wish to rush into a long and complex arguement about who's right or wrong when i can spend that time writing music, or being happy in whatever makes me so.
One more thing. And just remember this. Although you refuse to believe and while He knew that you would (hopefully only for a season) He died for you! Well, for your sins. That you could LIVE and be free. So intense(when looked in to)! "It is finished," Jesus said on the cross. Declaring that sin was conquered.Thank you Jesus for the price that you paid(for Christopher King).
You just gotta accept it buddy. And what a great time of the year to do it! Bust it Chris. Ask Christ to reveal Himslef to you and He will...if He hasnt already. Like myself and many others in the past, you/we just run. Stop running. Start listening. Hope that encourages you rather than makes you angry. Peace...
There are actually much more specific prophecies in the Bible than just those in Revelation. I'm sorry I don't have the exact reference but in the one of the minor prophets books of the Old Testament is an exact prediction of how many days it was from the capture of Jerusalem to the day Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. So yeah, there are a lot of vague prophecies in the Bible but there are also some very overt and explicit prophecies also.
i dont believe in a god. whether its yours or someone elses god. and ive yet to be convinced otherwise. there may have been a man named jesus, there may have not. all i KNOW is what is here on this earth. physical things. we are a part of this earth, this puzzle. we humans have a done a pretty good job at figuring out how to control the masses and personally any religion makes me very uncomfortable.
history is agreed upon fiction. does no one else see that? go read some daniel quinn. please :)
Well, evolution is science and science is truly awesome, a great human knowledge. But science is confined to explaining the natural world isn't it? What place does it have in explaining the supernatural? Science wouldn't make sense of religion. It can't and it won't by its very nature.
Even after if everything that could be known about the universe is explained by science, we are still left with the questions like "what is the meaning of life?", an answer man has forever been seeking.
I understand your disbelief right now. But please also think about how maybe things don't make any sense without God. How do know what a crooked line looks like? Because you know what a straight line looks like. The world is not about good vs evil and no God. Evil is a rebellion because how would you know what is evil without knowing good in the first place? Evil doesn't depend on what evil is, it depends on what good is.
God is good and there is nothing else like Him. Trust me.
how do you know if someone is evil or bad just because they did something bad?
what they thought they were doing was right, so they're not technically bad, i mean its wrong to label someone and put them in catagories of good and bad justice and evil. Your god says that all men were created equal, wheres the equality?
Well, allow me to ask you where you got the idea of equality from in the first place.
Where does evil come from? I mean, you have to know where it comes from before you can say what it is right, right?Maybe evil doesn't really exist at all.....
well evil and good come from the beginning of time. no?
man always has to have someway to distinguish who is their enemy and who is not. Man has to constantly have some fight ( or war ) going on. Man loves pain no matter what, you cant even deny that. The Romans used to watch it for pleasure, correct? so thats where good and evil comes from.
Theres light and darkness in everyone, wether we let it overcome us we have to choose, i choose nither.
So, if good and evil are entities from the beginning of time, then they must be independent of each other since they came to exist at the same point, right? Now, what is the reason that you call this one side "good" and the other side "evil"? They are two completely different, independent things but you point out that man needs more "good" and less "evil". Isn't that being unfair to "evil"? You may say there's no such thing as being unfair to evil but why are you bothered at unfairness to good?
You are disgusted at this thing called evil and you prefer the other thing called good. Now "good" seems righteouss to itself and who is man to say that it is not? "Evil" also seems righteouss to itself (they are independent, remember?), yet you take sides and scorn the thing called "evil". Why would you do that?
So my next question: So good and evil come from the beginning of time, but What IS "good" and "evil"?
what's wrong of being christian? god, that doesn't matter at all! We are all human, we are all the same in diferent ways. We just need to accept each ohter (wohoo) In this case, its not about religion, its about music, good music in fact :D PEACE AND LOVE DUDES
thrice has been my favorite band ever since the begining they are a very talented band creative as SHITTT:| i love them:) this song is so relaxing but kick ass at the same time:) they have sick beards haha.
there's a difference between a band being christian (ie relient k, blessthefall) and a band of christians (ie thrice). there's a distinction there, and people who are getting upset by thrice being a band of christians are missing that
this song is amazing i believe music can save lives if u find the right outlet music bleeds though ur pain and helps lessing ur burden

The same power he had was given to us by Him in the great commission and the day of Pentecost....however yeah lets just enjoy a freakin sweet video, and a sick microphone!
counterculturecc 1 year ago 6
@counterculturecc in many people (including myself) music has taken place where religion is supposed to fill.... so the subject of the songs is irrelevant just as the true meaning of anything in the bible is also irrelevant, its how you personally translate whatever is said/sang/played into your own life... that is the meaning of spirituality.... whether a band is christian or whatever doesn't matter.

Good song, even though its about dying and going to rest in the earth. Hence why it was put on the earth album, its not a song with any sort of christian message behind it.
kablammy1 1 year ago
@kablammy1 It does have a Christian message dude, it's based off a passage from the Bible.
acejesse13 1 year ago
@acejesse13 the perspective it was written from is for all who are old and weary to come rest in the earth.

@kablammy1 It is still based off the Bible, like it or not, it is.
acejesse13 1 year ago
@acejesse13 you're wrong. Sorry, but its a concept album. There are lots of innuendos are there, but the definition is different. Either way, I'm done with this arguement, lets just enjoy the music.
kablammy1 1 year ago
@kablammy1 lol i think your wrong. the entire song is straight from the bible...word for word
cutsandbruises101 1 year ago
@kablammy1
I'm sorry kablammy--this is not an argument, this is the truth. This song's title/lyrics are straight out of the Scriptures.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28
Many of Dustin's songs are from the Scriptures, and many of them are from scholars/books/studies he's done... GK Chesterton, CS Lewis, and the Bible seem to be the biggest influences--I've spoken with him before... he's a Christian and quite a humble man.
droptozro 1 year ago
@kablammy1 agree, just because the words come from a christian scripture does not make the song itself about christianity.
also, regardless of the song's meaning it is a piece of art & art is meant to be interpreted differently for everyone.

darknight0dc 1 year ago
@darknight0dc Think of it this way: If I'm right, then it makes all the difference what others believe. What everyone believes. If I'm wrong, then my ranting and banter will die along with me and the world will go on changelessly.
L30NlTU5 1 year ago
@L30NlTU5 whether you are right or wrong is irrelevant, you are certainly not going to convert anyone via Youtube, all you're accomplishing is alienating people and creating irritating "comment wars".
darknight0dc 1 year ago
@darknight0dc Not so. Anyone who cares enough to reply obviously thought about what I said, and so I accomplished something. Whether I'm right or wrong is not irrelavent, it makes the biggest difference in the world. All I want from these comments I leave are for people to think about it, and whether in a great or small way, you have. If the comments you see irritate you, why do you look at the comments?
L30NlTU5 1 year ago
@L30NlTU5 I don't know why I look at the comments, probably because I am curious about what other people think about good music. but since that never seems to be the case in the comment section I'll stop looking.

@madman3247 With all due respect, I think (hope) you mean apathy. "Apathy is a terrible thing". Empathy is putting yourself into someone elses position and trying to feel what they feel - compassion. i love all these songs and the religious meaning they have. i think religion is a great thing for man but i do not personally believe. it just cant get through to me. i have found more sense evolution backed up by science. nonetheless there is nothing wrong in believing it gives hope to the hopeless.
MrCaitball 2 years ago
it takes more faith to believe in the many flaws of evolution than it does to believe the bible. u cant actually count all the holes and stretched truths in evolution as there r too many. the "theory" of evolution is just as much of a religion as Christianity
iwantlootla 2 years ago
haha the bible is one big hole in itself.
MrCaitball 2 years ago
Yeah, I guess life evolving with no apparent explanation of what is driving it is comforting to know. Now all is well.
It's simple. Life started from the ultimate equation:
(nothing x nothing)+nothing = something.
DUH!
It's only the greatest accomplishment of science and logic! C'mon, people!!!
fenderian 2 years ago
explain how the bible is a hole in itself. there is not 1 man has ever pointed out a human error within the bible. i read it cover to cover, old and new testament, 5 going on 6 times. i among many others KNOW the bible couldnt have been driven by any MANS knowledge. the book of revelation has foretold many of the occurrences which are happening today
iwantlootla 2 years ago
It's a very common thing that is done by man, if you've read than you know that the explainations are very vague and not just straight to the point, fortune tellers do this, telling you very vague things that happen in everyones life, with some tweaking the same technic is applied here.
ChristopherIanKing 2 years ago
o yea cuz u know... the book of revelation has just predicted exact events and a specific order thousands of years ago, but its obviously just vague knowledge like what fortune tellers do.
iwantlootla 2 years ago
It is, but your blind faith makes you believe otherwise, i'm done argueing, find someone else to convert.
ChristopherIanKing 2 years ago
u cant even give me a valid point, i call u out on something uve said and u throw in the towel. that is ur whole life, anytime som1 tried to open ur closed eyes u refuse them. u dont even listen to wat they have to say. im open to debate anything at anytime i have an open mind i have researched many theories and religions and i have found wat i was looking for. u on the other hand take the easy way out by strictly believing wat is told to u and never have to work to find answers yourself.
iwantlootla 2 years ago
I spoke my mind and what i felt, whatever valid points it lacked is irrelevant, because after i've said whatever i want to say, i don't have to care.
And why should i? It's a arguement about a goddamn story book on a Thrice video, do you feel that i'm obligated to give you a thrilling arguement filled with scientific facts and prophets words? I'm not.
You know what i believe in? Living, because its what all humans do, and we should start focusing on that and not on a invisible man in the sky.
ChristopherIanKing 2 years ago
(C...King)So you believe in what you believe because you have done extensive research on the Bible and have come to the conclusion that the Bible is not something that you can believe in? Here are some scripture verses then, to remind you, that you would have read when reading the Bible to come to this conclusion.
golfer0422 2 years ago
Matthew 10:39: Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Matthew 16:25: For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
Mark 8:35: For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.
Luke 17:33: Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
golfer0422 2 years ago
Since what you believe in is "Living." Jesus had some things to say in regards to living. Verse 26 in Matthew 16 says this also..."What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"
golfer0422 2 years ago
I say these things with sincerity and am in no way trying to attack you. Sorry for butting in on the conversation...but I had too say something.
golfer0422 2 years ago
No man, don't worry about it. lol
ChristopherIanKing 2 years ago
One more thing. And just remember this. Although you refuse to believe and while He knew that you would (hopefully only for a season) He died for you! Well, for your sins. That you could LIVE and be free. So intense(when looked in to)! "It is finished," Jesus said on the cross. Declaring that sin was conquered.Thank you Jesus for the price that you paid(for Christopher King).
golfer0422 2 years ago
You just gotta accept it buddy. And what a great time of the year to do it! Bust it Chris. Ask Christ to reveal Himslef to you and He will...if He hasnt already. Like myself and many others in the past, you/we just run. Stop running. Start listening. Hope that encourages you rather than makes you angry. Peace...
golfer0422 2 years ago
i truly pity you
iwantlootla 2 years ago
There are actually much more specific prophecies in the Bible than just those in Revelation. I'm sorry I don't have the exact reference but in the one of the minor prophets books of the Old Testament is an exact prediction of how many days it was from the capture of Jerusalem to the day Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. So yeah, there are a lot of vague prophecies in the Bible but there are also some very overt and explicit prophecies also.
TheNatedogg56 2 years ago
i dont believe in a god. whether its yours or someone elses god. and ive yet to be convinced otherwise. there may have been a man named jesus, there may have not. all i KNOW is what is here on this earth. physical things. we are a part of this earth, this puzzle. we humans have a done a pretty good job at figuring out how to control the masses and personally any religion makes me very uncomfortable.
history is agreed upon fiction. does no one else see that? go read some daniel quinn. please :)
MrCaitball 2 years ago
Well, evolution is science and science is truly awesome, a great human knowledge. But science is confined to explaining the natural world isn't it? What place does it have in explaining the supernatural? Science wouldn't make sense of religion. It can't and it won't by its very nature.
Even after if everything that could be known about the universe is explained by science, we are still left with the questions like "what is the meaning of life?", an answer man has forever been seeking.
curryisderelicious 2 years ago
sorry guys I don't believe in god. It just never got through to me and it doesn't make any sense.
kayofsea 2 years ago
@kayofsea
Trust me.
curryisderelicious 2 years ago
how do you know if someone is evil or bad just because they did something bad?
what they thought they were doing was right, so they're not technically bad, i mean its wrong to label someone and put them in catagories of good and bad justice and evil. Your god says that all men were created equal, wheres the equality?
Rinkei9 2 years ago
@Rinkei9
Well, allow me to ask you where you got the idea of equality from in the first place.
Where does evil come from? I mean, you have to know where it comes from before you can say what it is right, right?Maybe evil doesn't really exist at all.....
Where do you get the idea of good and evil?
curryisderelicious 2 years ago
well evil and good come from the beginning of time. no?
man always has to have someway to distinguish who is their enemy and who is not.
Rinkei9 2 years ago
So, if good and evil are entities from the beginning of time, then they must be independent of each other since they came to exist at the same point, right? Now, what is the reason that you call this one side "good" and the other side "evil"? They are two completely different, independent things but you point out that man needs more "good" and less "evil". Isn't that being unfair to "evil"? You may say there's no such thing as being unfair to evil but why are you bothered at unfairness to good?
curryisderelicious 2 years ago
You are disgusted at this thing called evil and you prefer the other thing called good. Now "good" seems righteouss to itself and who is man to say that it is not? "Evil" also seems righteouss to itself (they are independent, remember?), yet you take sides and scorn the thing called "evil". Why would you do that?
So my next question: So good and evil come from the beginning of time, but What IS "good" and "evil"?
curryisderelicious 2 years ago
