  • Only the US and India have private healthcare systems. That means 99% of the world has socialist medicine. Niether the US nor India top the medical statistics charts. They are much better then some...much worse than others.

  • Sick of "BAILOUT,BAILOUT,BAILOUT"-sounds kinda like "BARRABAS,BARRABAS,BARRABAS"!

  • no one is suing to get their freedom back. we consider having health-care a part of our freedom

  • freedom, what is the last war you help in to battle for freedom?

  • Uhm our troops are in Afghanistan now, It's worth noting Canada was in WWII well before the Americans as well. If you're talking about Iraq well it's been proven our PM at the time made the right decision.

  • Canada's Healthcare system is pretty shit.

  • you don't know what your talking about

  • I don't? My Uncle's sister died waiting to get treatment for her cancer in Canada. By the time she got diagnosed with it it was too far advanced.

One of the reasons she moved to Canada was for the great free healtchare! Too bad you wait forever to get diagnosed with your problems unless it is immediately obvious and severe.

  • i'm sorry my friend, but i don't buy that one bit. i've been a canadian for a while now, and i've known many with cancer. some have died and some have survived, but never was anyone denied treatment, or delayed to the point of any risk. you don't know what your talking about. i'm sure there are details you'd rather not disclose that powerfully weaken your argument.

  • Cool Republican circlejerk

  • About crossing the border...

Most areas of Canada are not densely populated enough to justify the expense of a specialty clinic for themselves. It is cheaper to send someone to a private clinic south of the border.

I don't imagine the private clinic minds the business.

And this notion of people 'wanting their freedom back' is down right stupid.

I don't know anybody who feel oppressed or stifled because they don't have to worry about medical treatment or the bills.

  • If they don't like their health care system, why do they have a holiday for the guy that introduced it.

  • NO fool, he is exactly right! Just becasue you like socialism does not mean America is going to tolorate it!

Stay in Canada Socalist moron and when you get cancer, sit on the wait list and dying, dont try to cross the border to come to America!

  • I'd rater be on the wait list than no list.

  • no one is on any wait list fool! not even the illegals! don't try to tell American's about the american system just becasue we have a slight problem with electing a communist who will be out of office with all his czars and cohorts in congress shortly. american will not be an england, canada or russia so STFU!

  • I am an American. President Obama wouldn't have continued Bush's bank bailout if he were a communist. Bush had more czars than President Obama has and they aren't really czars anyway that's just a nickname Nixon came up with.

  • none of bushes czars were communist like van jones, he did not attend jerahmiah wrights radical church for 20 years and get married by him. he was not born in kenya, and was not educated in muslim schools or raised as muslim with a socialist character behind him from childhood.

  • VAn Jones isn't a communist. President Obama was born in Hawaii.

  • Total lies. The Canadian healthcare system has flaws but well ovr 80% of our population is happy with it.

  • true!

  • He forgot to mention the part where Canadians have a higher life expectancy than Americans under Universal Healthcare.

  • Franks go shove it up your ass

  • The Canadian system is starting to fail because the government isn't taxing the people enough.

In the end we'll end up with poor service or nothing.

That goes for all social programs, its everyman for himself .

The government just spends money they have no way of making money.

  • Canadians I have talked to almost never get sick and they HATE paying HIGH TAXES for something they never use.

Universal Health Care benefits those people with health problems. It punishes the working class.

  • Pvt you have shit for brains

  • Man, this is one of the most stupid comment i have ever heard.

UHC benefits everyone. How do you know you are not going to have a cancer if the next year, or a very disabling disease ? If you dont they you know what UHC is for...

I pay far more in tax that i use every year in medical expenses but if i get really sick i will never go broke...

How much do you keep aside in case of this kind of event ?

  • @Melpheos1er

Well, in the United States a consumer can purchase quality affordable health care through their employer.

You need to look at things from the stand-point of the lower and middle class. People who make less than 50k a year can not afford 12% sales tax on items. Then additional taxes on top of that.

Every job I have ever worked offered very good Health Insurance options. Congress can do something. They can allow insurance companies to compete outside of their states.

  • You do realize why the insurance companies, their lobbyists and, as a result, Republicans want cross border shopping for their products and services right?

It is so they can benefit the same way credit card companies do. By pitting State Legislators against each other to write favorable laws to attract the head offices.

Ever wonder why all you CC's come from N. Dakota or Connecticut? It is because they have relaxed the usury laws so they can screw you on interest.

  • My wife's company had to switch health insurance programs because the rates went up 20%. They'll go up again soon and maybe the next time we'll lose it altogether.

  • Congratulations on your elevated freedom.

I bet you can't wait to start shopping for a new policy!

Oh, the choices you will have!

  • Then can we go to Canada and get free care? It would save me from flying to Thailand to get the same care as the US at 1/10th the price.

Franks is no Weiner I'm sorry to say.

  • Since when are we suing lol

  • These are more Republican lies. As a Canadian, we have some of the best hospitals for treating cancer in the world. I love our health care system and wouldn't change to the American system in a million years.

  • These 2 idiots have no clue as to what they are saying. If you ask Canadians if they would give up their health care, there would be a resounding 99.9% reply of "NO!!"

The only ones that would say yes would be the extremely wealthy that would have something to gain.

Our healthcare system works just fine! It is the greed care in the USA that is the problem.

  • They're bashing Canadian health care but it ranks 7 places higher than their own in world rankings. These politicians would be better off not acting as if they know everything about every other country's health care system. Get yours in line first and then worry about everyone else. And no, we're not fighting to "get our freedom back". Offering affordable care for all makes us more free, not less.

  • Freedom for the rich! The problem is that means no choice for the poor. Is it moral? If we have a system that everybody could choose, it will be great, but they don't want that.

They want "Wealth Care" for the heath insurance companies.

  • i'm canadian and i love our health care system. i don't know anyone here who shouts out "i want my freedom back". this is propaganda in the making. shame on you for using canada to argue for not providing universal health care to americans!!!!!!

  • I wish my contry had your healthcare system. There is a conservative canadian that writes letters in my local newspaper from canada. Which annoys me. I wonder why he can't bith about the country he lives in being so liberal rather than Massachusetts or America.

  • how many members of congress is he addressing, one?

    everyone else playing golf?

  • Nah getting their kick backs from insurance.. And then playing golf.

  • re: TheHaightAshbury

Probably not many, considering it's largely a non-issue.

Just a bunch of people that want to free-ride by having access to high quality catastrophic care, without paying anything for it.

What's more, are you aware almost all the bullshit they highlight of with the Canadian system is for elective procedures.

And yet Republicans (And many libertarians) try to act like those wait times are associated with medically necessary procedures.

Which is in many ways disgusting.

  • nice show sponsored by the health care lobby with well paid "actors" !!!

  • Amazing. What a lie to make about Canadian health care. I think they should wear their glasses when they supposedly get this information. Speaking of law suits regarding health care.. *coughs* You should be speaking for yourself in comparison, Congressman.

  • i'm confused, who am i suing up here for my freedom? *scratches head*

  • haha, both sides are full of shit

  • Since when did Congress start having floor conversations?? O.o "Mr. Speaker, I request 10 minutes to talk to my good Republican butt buddy about an issue that has nothing to do with the bill."

  • @whoo689 They call it a "colloquy". I think it's pretty silly. However, I would rather them chat and not pass so much legislation.

  • haha, I know, wtf is this about?? Is this supposed to be a debate?? This is retarded

  • re: soundmoneyfan

Well if you note at the end. The room is basically empty.
