  • im sorry but what a shit boring video,,,have you read this from a book

  • haha so thats pretty much anything :-)

cool, Ive had many birds and Im lucky none ever did that, I hate it, grrrr

  • My chickens have never been the same since I sent them to the mini-spa...it was such a dissapointment to them. They were so expecting a vacation in the Bahamas.

  • Very informational, thank you. Something I think is important to add is that some birds who pluck but also mutilate the skin may require a collar or other device to prevent opening a healing wound, infection and/or death.

  • people spend hundreds of dollars on testing and 99% of the time the problem is emotional.

  • 4 the most part yes, But when I blunder it's bad.... and usually requires attention.

  • I took my green wing macaw to the vet, and he says that the plucking is, at this point, a habit. When I got the bird, he already had this habit. Could keeping him entertained with other things help cure this habit?

  • Possibly, but not a guarantee. Depends on what caused it in the first place.

No matter what the habit is now, the more your bird is occupied doing something else the less it will pluck, if there is a guarantee not due to a health or physical issue.

Diet has proven a BIG factor. Poor diets lead to a multitude of health issues, second to boredom. Foraging toys are an asset. Water bottles help. Bacteria infections cause a lot problems.

Interacting with your bird is the the best prevention.

  • Lol... Massive List x]

  • I know. :-( Sorry. I would not be surprised if I actually missed something even. Feather picking is one of the hardest symptoms to treat sometimes.

I say symptom because I think it is the response to another problem in every case I have seen, weather physical or emotional.

If you can find the initial problem or problems, you will have the ability to create a plan of treatment with a degree of success.

Going untreated will only create additional problems.

  • Thank you so much for posting this!

  • What a list.. LOL. It is good that somebody put this video out there. I only wish I would have thought about it first. Thank you for all your good work.

  • Thank you for the advice

  • I have a lot of anxiety about my bird plucking. I have anxiety of a lot of things though xD Thank god he has never done it. I keep the best care of him as I can. If you wanna see him I have a vid of him on my channel :D

  • HI great video I like the change instead of doing video's of only birds that need new homes you are teaching people to deal with commen problems so there birds will not windup there.Great job!!!!!

  • Thank You. There are not enough hours in the day for me to produce the vids. I wish I could.

TY TY. If you watch this video three or so times you can absorb the info. Lots of info here I hope. At least to get you thinking.

  • I still look fat! lol

  • Bull. You do NOT look fat! I like your dress though, that's pretty. :)
