To the folks who keep bringing up the fact that the song was originally written by that Brecht dude and that the Doors version was it's self a cover: This is really just a case of the Doors's version being way more popular than the original (as well as this craptastic cover by Manson), it's like "Me and Bobby McGee" being considered a Janis Joplin song even though it was written by Kris Kristofferson(sp?). Sometimes the original is just not as good as later versions.

@ThomB666 Well, MM annonces the song as "another one for Berlin", where Brecht and Weill used to live in the Twenties and where they wrote this song. He obviously refers to the original. Actually all later versions (sung by men) are misguiding. This song is part of a stage play. It's about women forced into prostitution by her poverty (Oh, don't ask why!). It's about Berlin in the 20s. Oh, and "that Brecht dude" actually was one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Google helps. :)
